Denver Colorado, USA--and you? I stay on-line mostly during the week at work.
I have been toying with the idea of starting a grass roots dialogue session between citizens (and non citizens) of middle eastern descent and others. Just get together over coffee and talk. I would love to get some Jewish americans in on it also. If we could all just talk and connect with each others' humanity.
I've heard about the radio broadcasts. I was listening to the radio this morning and they said that the US is losing the propoganda war. I find this more disturbing than anything else. Also, what do we know about this northern alliance we're getting into bed with? Isn't that how the Taliban got into power? I really wanted to see the UN take over with a broad based government.

Excellent article, Rex! Thank you for posting the link. I have grown weary of seeing and hearing from only the extremists in the news. It's demoralizing when all you hear is how much they hate the west. I've heard that protesters have accused the Pakistani president of standing under the "cross" (equating this war as that of Christianity vs Islam--this is a blatant political move to manipulate and foment the Islamic fanatics). I would like to hear from Moderate Muslims. Or Christian Middle Easterners. Or Middle Eastern secularists. Or anything other than the foam at the mouth, hateful protesters we see nightly, burning our kind in effigy. It's embarassing to see humans behave in such a way. I know these fanatics are not entirely representative of the middle eastern world. So, how does the west go about fostering any kind of secularism present in the middle east, as Rushdi suggests?

The watchtower is true

About voting and the governments, etc. At least with a vote (that is a voice) one can openly disagree with the government, work to change it, etc. And all without risk of being cut off from your family, social fabric, and/or livlihood, which happens in many cases in the organization. Can you question anything about the governing body or local elder body publically without being at the very least interrogated and put on suspect list? Please try it if you feel so inclined to test said theory.
Anyway, I've got to go. I've got class tonight--big test! Still glad you're hanging around here.
Peace,
B.
p.s. WHIZ!! Where you been? Haven't heard from you in a while. I've missed some of your commentaries. Hope to see more of them. -

I'm bummed!!! I'm in Conflicted's wife's shoes!! She's due in February? Me TOO! Congratulations!!!
I would LOVE TO GO!! How about another one in the summer? Although, we were there in July and it was hotter than blue blazes for our mountain acclimated bodies. So, we had to stay in the hotel as much as possible and entertain ourselves. Our pic is up on Stephanus' site.
Anyway....
Have fun!! Take lots of pics.
Love,

Hey, Nytelecom, are you billy? If so, it's funny!
You asked if spending hours on end online makes one a "looser" er I mean loser.
What came to my mind is that since most of us now have jobs with offices and desks in front of computers instead of scrubbing toilets and washing windows (not that there's anything wrong with those), we can pop on and off all day long and still get our work done, and make a great living.
Just my 2 cents....
Oh and billy, that line about oral sex giving you bad breath, is that the official WTBTS party line against oral sex nowadays? Regular sex leaves you smelly and gooey and sticky all over (if done properly)--better stop that too. I'm sure if they could find a way to legislate and police it THAT would end too.
Hey, enjoy your "paradise"! billy.

Something Sinister About JW Books?
by Englishman inwhen i was a little lad of 7 years old, my parents would drag me - literally kicking and screaming - to the kingdom hall.
i used to hate it with a vengeance.. it wasn't just the weird language that i detested, but there did seem to be something of an evil aura about the place.
i recall the chap who took my parents bible study telling them that satan was working through me to try to stop them attending meetings.. it was around this time that i started to become fearful of being alone or in the dark.

I don't believe it to be exaggerated at all. There are many subliminal and covert messages conveyed, that to the young, developing human psyche could instill a primal feeling of sinisterism. I, too, remember the horrid pictures portraying armageddon. I lay awake at night as a 5 y.o. wondering what it was like to just not exist (because I KNEW I wouldn't make it--some scripture in zechariah about probably you MIGHT make it--if you'd done everything right). I used to toy with suicide as a child (run out in front of cars, etc. make bets with myself--if the next person who comes into the room has blonde hair, you'll die within the year--morbid stuff for a child under 10--I think trying to quell my fear of death, as fear and death are EVERYWHERE as a JW). The childish mind attempts to sort it out the best way it can.
Also, I think the thing with E-man may have had to do with the age. His whole existence up to then was turned upside down. His parents were "taken over". Like invasion of the body snatchers.
OMG, that's what JW's remind me of---POD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!B.

I AM NO LONGER A JW STATISTIC
by Cassiline inthis has taken a lot of courage to post.
my life with the jws has been one hardship after another.
i am sharing this to help others see that jws claim to be loving and forgiving people while they are not.

My God, ((Nita)) and ((Cassi)). I'm just sorry it took me so long to open this post! I am sad and proud, all at the same time to be in association with you. You are strong. You are a survivor. Good for YOU!!! Now no one can ever take your power away.
As for "Pure"heart. This being is merely reflecting the pharisaic attitudes of its leader, the WTBTS. Still, it's good, you know, in the long run, to have these little reminders of how the organization and its adherants view people (I beleive the pharisees called the rank and file of their day, Amaherets [dirt people]). They are an unloving, unmerciful, judgemental organization. If there is a god, it is hard to imagine they will not be called to the floor for their reprehinsible, inexcusable actions and inactions towards the people who had no where else to turn, especially the most vulnerable--the children!
Sickened, but soooo not surprised,
Bridgette
