Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...
by Alfred inin 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.
oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

New method of appointing Regular Pioneers!
by stuckinarut2 ina new arrangement for appointing regular pioneers has been announced.. in the past, a person would have to fill in a form from the society, this would have to be approved by the local elders, then this would be sent to the branch for final approval and appointment.. now it is just the local elders that approve it.
it doesn't need the branch approval any more.. they are selling it as a way to "speed up the process in order to be more effective in the ministry during these urgent times blah blah".

It's called CYA.
The Watchtower Society wants to be as far removed as possible form the local congregations so when a pioneer is charged with child molestation the Governing Body can say we didn't even know he was a pioneer.
Watch for MS and elder appointments to be made by the acting CO's. That was another CYA move by the GB when they began using local elders as CO's.
It's all about the $$$$

by 2pink inmy husband and i (both born in jws with extended family all "in" except for one of my sisters who left when we did) left the church 5 years ago.
we did not fade, we just didn't believe it anymore, told our families so and left.

Simple and quick.
Romans 6:7
The Watchtower uses it to claim a person who dies has paid for his sins.
Where does that leave the new covenant and Jesus' sacrifice which Matthew 26:28 says paid for our sins?
Acts 5:31 says that God exalted Jesus to His right hand for the forgiveness of sins.
If our death pays for our sins then there was no need for Jesus to die for us.
Also Romans 6:1-14 has nothing to do with our death paying for our sins.
Romans 6:1-14 describes the new life a believer experinces in Christ.

Welcome powermetal4ever!
Although I like it too, I'm sure the JW's would consider your choice in music not only worldly but much worse :)
It's good that you are out on your own because it makes fading much easier without the added problems of the JW's so called encouragement to go back to meetings.
I look forward to reading more of your posts.

"Who are we to question /god/?"
by LovelyEunie inhas anyone had this line said to them when there was questioning involved?
did it irritate you because when questioning did happen that line was almost always used as a shut down to keep you from going any further and to make you feel guilty in the process?
because we're just idiotic and feeble minded human beings, so surely we can't possibly begin to question the likes of god.

The next time someone throws that crap at you, counter their ignorance with Numbers 11:11 and Numbers 16:22.

Two Witness principle
by Rattigan350 inone thing that i agree with is the two or more witness principle.. i have an experience to tell why.. at work for lunch i go to my car and eat and read emails on my laptop (since i can't bring my laptop in).
one day a hr director and my director told me about an occasion where i was in my car and a woman went out to her car that was next to me and left for lunch.
she came back and pulled in a spot and saw that i was in my car to the left of her and what came to her mind was that i must have just pulled in after her and she felt uncomfortable with that and thinking that i was following her and she went to security.

Blondie's Watchtower quote said, "Since she is part of the clean Christian congregation" but how can the congregation be clean when it allows accused and convicted pedophiles to sit in its midst?
How about people who have been publicly and privately reproved for committing acts the Watchtower Society say are gross sins?
How can Jehovah's Witnesses claim to be in a "clean congregation" when they totally ignore 1 Corinthians 5:13 which commands them to Put away the evil person from among yourselves?

Finding a new family? First post!

i love the topics and it has inspired me to say hello to all my fellow apostates.
i was awakened to how my family feels about me and my wife shortly after the international assembly.

Hi SpeedRacer!
Don't worry too much about your conditional JW family because some of the younger ones may wake up and realize what they are involved.
You'll find plenty of friends on this apostate board who will accept you as you are.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses THAT Bad?
by minimus ini'm not fond of any religious fanatic.
islamic fundies can be downright crazy.
mormonism seems silly to me.

They have the truth and belong to Jerhover's only approved religious organization.
They are being led to waters of righteousness by the 7 member faithful and discreet slave whom Jesus appointed in uh, uh, 1919.
They obey God's commandments given to Moses and follow the Governing Body's interpretation of it faithfully.
How can any of them be bad?

Copy of my DA Letter
by airborne inthis is my first time posting here, although i have been a visitor to it for around a year.
after doing a simple google search under "jehovah'switnesses" over a year ago, i found ttat.
i was deeply unhappy with the congregation and decided to educate myself, and boy what an education i have gotten so far.

And that's just the way it is.
The organisation has kicked Jesus in the head and replaced Him with the 'faithful and discreet slave' AKA the 7 popes on the Governing Body.
Those false prophets are deceiving 7 million people and will surely burn in hell forever for their blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
I say good riddance to them and all they represent.
