Great picture!!!
Very appropriate that the borg is fulfilling prophecies in Revelation.
so we have our circuit overseer this week.
we're getting the crap kicked out of us (figuratively) for our meeting attendance.
we have attendance in the 70% range for some of our meetings.
Great picture!!!
Very appropriate that the borg is fulfilling prophecies in Revelation.
ever since leaving the org 10+ years ago, i have often wondered about wearing a cross and if it is wrong to do.
i think the jw's see it as an idol, and i do know that the baptists actually pray to the cross because after i left the org, i became baptist for 2 years and they did pray to the big cross on the wall.
i'm not sure i believe that praying to the cross is such a good thing to do, but is wearing one as a symbol of my belief wrong?
Col 2:14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
The JWs are modern day Judaizers who have substituted a more oppressive and restrictive WatchTower Law, demanding moral and physical purity, for the Mosaic Law. Thereby, they are being made a public spectacle by their denial of Christ which they prove at their annual Memorial.
As one who puts faith in Jesus I look to the cross as a triumph over the wicked forces of evil and death.
I wonder what the reaction would be if someone went to a District Convention where one of the WT Gods Governing Body was in attendance and showed him a cross.... hmmmm.
I don't know much about the baptist religion except they also believe in a trinity and the rapture, a paid clergy , resurrection to heaven or hell at time of death , eternal hell fire...
Heathen, the baptists are so poor around here most of their churches can't afford to pay a clergyman. Most of them in these mountains I live in don't even have a GED let alone a HS education but they seem to be sincere in their belief in Jesus. The ones that do pay the pastor, I have noticed that the pastors are mostly pretty humble men that don't put a spin on the bible. I think in every denomination there are problems with clergy/laity classes just as the dubs have that stumbling block... GB, Branch overseer, DO, CO, Elder, MS, Pioneer.
.
i am pretty sure this is what i am.
i would love to chat with anyone else who might want to sort some stuff out with me.. many thanks!.
Welcome to the Board!!!
I PM'd you so that I would not stumble Uzzah with my new found faith.
However, I can understand why so many ex-jws are turning away from Christ after their experiences with Satan's organisation. I almost did myself but that is exactly what the objective of the WATCH TOWER BIBLE and TRACT SOCIETY is... to turn people away from the saviour of the world no matter how they can accomplish it.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone here (other than the WTBTS monitors, of course) by calling a duck a duck. After several years of involved daily studies of the bible, christianity, ancient and first century history including most known bible manuscripts and secular records available to researchers I have reached a personal conclusion that the WTBTS is definitely spirit directed as they have claimed.
we stayed at a door talking bad about the householder and they were listening for 5 minutes.
what's that scripture?
about a birdie and a king??
As an active dub I would stay until they threw me out which is a good thing because I really believed the BS of the WTBTS at the time until the scales fell off my eyes and I learned the truth about the troof. Now I spend my days engaged in spiritual discussions with many JWs even though I am regarded as the chief apostate in this area. Some people just will not blindly comply with the evil borg's directives to abstain from apostates. Maybe they know deep down in their hearts its all a big lie.
ed bell will be arguing for barbara anderson in the tennessee court of appeals on april 14th.
this case may go to the supreme court.
it is very important for a lot of us.the wtbs hides behind the first amendment whenever they can (usually in money related cases) and then disposes of the rights of individuals who wish to leave, coerces families and causes families to break apart.
Thankyou for the info. I have filed contempt charges in a child visitation case regarding the rights of both parents to have freedom of worship at their respective places of religious orientation against an active Jehovah's Witness who refuses to obey those freedoms legally adopted by the State of Tennessee. I think the WTBTS calls it 'theocratic warfare' these days.
i was wondering if anyone else has had a hard time making friends since leaving the organization.
being raised as a jw, it seems difficult to me, as i was never allowed to have any friends who weren't other jw's.
as a result, i have isolated myself to only my immediate family.
Welcome Happy Camper!!
By all means think of a hobby if you don't have one. Not only will it help take your mind off the stigma that comes with the shunning that is so 'lovingly provided' by the borg but you can meet some really nice people. A visit to a good pyschotherapist helped me, although it about wore the whole staff out before I finally felt de-programmed enough that I wasn't hanging onto my therapists almost 24/7.
After I discovered the 1st WTBTS lie I started exploring all their publications until I couldn't handle all the deciet and lies they have propagated over the past 100+ years. That led me to conclude that if those dimonz had lied about so much maybe, just maybe they were lying about the churches of christendom. It took me a while to go into a church but with the help of several real friends I finally made it. Then I almost had a mental relapse and breakdown when I found out the reason the WTBTS condemns christendom so much. Those illegitimate Pharisees (that's right, they don't know who their Father really is) are very clever at keeping people away from the Christ. They do this either by their blasphemous once a year celebration whereby 95%+ of the members physically and publicly deny Him by refusing to partake of the emblems being passed through the congregation and by defaming and slandering all of christendom when they know that most of the Protestant groups worship (see Hebrews 1:6 in most translations and even the NWT 1961 edition until they realised it didn't fit their denial of Jesus and they revised it), glorify and praise Jesus Christ as King.
Hang in there!! You will meet many new friends in the 'world' and on this board.
you may remember i posted two days ago about a ten-page jw tsunami report that was e-mailed to me.
it consisted of about three separate letters.
since the report was so long, i tried to copy and paste some of the quotes from a word document and only got two out of seven.
They'll never get it.
Just like they will never understand the meaning behind Jesus' words when he talked about the tower of Siloam. They always want to put the FDS spin to it when it just showed that the time to repent is now because we never know if we're going to be here tomorrow.
sunday the 17th iwill be meeting him for the fist time.
i would like some feedback as to any questions you all may have(i have a bunch of my own) of which i will post next sunday night.
please keep them as short as possible so i,m not carrying a whole book when i go.
His faith in God instead of an organisation and his courage to stand up for what he discovered has probably had more of an impact on many who had serious doubts as to the WTBTS's claims and prophetic writings than he realises. It helped set me free to worship God instead of an organisation.
i think it's kind of funny.
how do they explain more people this year than lasts?
i thought the number was suppose to get lower as they died off?
This is getting to be complicated for my poor mind to make an adjustment. I think I'll just go read my bible.
i apologise for upsetting most of you by logging onto this site.
i stumbled onto it by accident and stupidly never noticed that it said discussion forum, everyone welcome.
i just thought it was a site where witnesses discussed subjects, and did not expect such a negative response to my naivety.
Hi Yvonne,
WELCOME, WELCOME, DEAR ONE !!!
Don't worry about any of us being offended or upset with anything you say here. We hope you feel the same way. It is so good that you have an open mind and we sincerely desire that you let us know how you feel about different topics as you will find that most here will definitely not hold back how they feel.
Who knows, you may help some of us as we walk along the path of life.
Please don't take it personal that some of us have very negative opinions of the WTBTS. Many on this board are atheists, agnostics, active jw, non-active jw, disfellowshipped jw, disassociated (I prefer the term disaffiliated) jw, never been a jw, studying with jw's, believers in Jesus and that He is the way and the truth and the life, believers in the WTBTS and Governing Body of jw's and they are the way and the truth and the life, New Age, Scientologists, buddhists, muslims, and any and all others. Did I leave anyone out of the mix? If so, please accept my apologies and let us know your views on life and it's everchanging light.
