Why the WTBTS is liable for Sex Abuse Cases
by Coded Logic inthe problem isn't just that kids are getting raped by people in their congregation.
the problem's also that anytime someone has "serrious charges" brought against them the elders add notes to that jws publisher file.
and, if the elders don't take the matter to the police or, as is often the case, tell the victims families not to take it to the police either, this establishes a level of accountability.. take daniel fitzwater for example.

It's all about WHO knew about it, WHAT did they do about it and WHY did they do nothing about it.

newbie to site looking for fellow DF's and DA's (or anyone else who has good conversation to offer)
by eyefell4it2 ini am new to the site.
i started perusing it this weekend and wish i had found it 10 years ago when i was on my way out.
anyways, long story short, was df'd for you guessed it...fornication or "loose conduct" even though i had been a pioneer with an elder father, grandfather and uncle and no previous issues.

Welcome eyefell4it2
I love your handle.
I have a couple of questions you can answer privately to yourself.
1. Do you still believe the Jehovah's Witnesses have da troof?
2. Do you believe that other denominations may not be as evil as the JW's believe?
I hope you enjoy the board.
I have been out for 10 years this month (November 18) and have more real friends in than I ever did in the JW's, unconditional friends at that.
Some of them are christians, some are not.
Some are even members of the opposite sex and contrary to what JW's teach, none of try anything when we are alone together.
I saw more fornication, adultery and broken up marriages in the JW's than anythingt I have seen in the world.
Most of the marriages I observed in the JW's were miserable and one or both spouses were very depressed and unhappy.
Personally, I believe the denomination causes a lot more problems in marriages than happines.
It certainly doesn't provide and viable solutions to screwed up marriages.
Most marriages that survive are the ones where both spouses ditch the wacky religion.

I vote for the person based on his stand on issues and programs.
I have crossed party lines quite a few times in the last 10 years.

Rick Simons vs Irwin Zalkin
by Calebs Airplane inthey're both doing an excellent job... but which lawyer do you believe is currently best equipped to expose the watchtower's child sex abuse scandals and cover-ups?.

Zalkin
He knows his shit and he knows the Watchtower's too.
Plus, he bypasses the local congregation goes directly after the Watchtower Society for not doing anything after they found out about the molestation and because the Watchtower Society owns the kingdom hall where the perpetrator attends or attended.

in this ground-breaking bumper show, we interview irwin zalkin, the lawyer who filed and won this new child abuse case against the watchtower organisation, which saw the victim, jose lopez awarded $13.5 million.. i think you'll agree with me (after listening to the interview) that irwin really knows his 'watchtower' stuff!.

If you have been inactive for over a year can you get disfellowshipped?
by cognac ini've read conflicting things so was hoping to get this clarified.. .

Honesty
It depends on how much of a threat to the congregation you are perceived to be.
Telling just one JW what you really think and have found out can get you invited to a kangaroo court and subsequent shunning by most of your family and friends.
Keep in mind that your friends and family are involved with an oppressive, high control group which cares nothing about indivual's feelings or constitutional rights.

Since The Bible Sponsors Disciplining Your Children Do JWs Say It Is OK Spank A Child?
by minimus inis it ok to spank your kids?
is it ok to discipline them using any force?.
.
-
Honesty
Some JW's have been observed beating their child within an inch of his/her life for a minor infraction.
Other JW's (especially those with an elder in the immediate family) take a milder approach to discipline.

Romans 14:23
by StarTrekAngel ini bumped into this text (romans 14:23) during one of the meetings.
yes, most times i find myself drifting away from the meeting into some real bible studying.
do i understand this correctly or is it saying that even good things should be done by faith or else is a sin?
-
Honesty
It says that everything that is not from faith is sin.
