hi all.. i have noticed that many of our forum members have sought professional help from counsellors who deal with ones like us who have broken free from high control groups or "cults".. my self esteem has been rocked by recent events in the cong, and while i know ttatt it still has taken my joy in life away quite a bit.. as you all know, mentally i broke free from the org several years ago, but now that i am trying to start making the physical break, i feel really unsettled and nervous.. i wonder if a good counsellor could assist in helping me clarify and sort my feelings and emotions , and provide help to take practical steps to cut all ties with the org?.

if anyone can provide ideas of good counsellors, it would be appreciated.. thanks everyone!.

About 2 years into my 4 year fade I hooked up with 2 mental health counselors who helped me a lot.

My super dub spouse didn't want anything to do with joint counseling so I went alone which hastened my recovery from the destructive cult.

I strongly suggest counseling, especially if you are feeling depressed.

Gave blood today for the first time!

red cross had a blood drive near me, i decided to go give blood.

i hydrated well, ate some red meat for the iron last night and at lunch, we and gave a pint of blood.

i felt mildly embarrassed, i had no idea what my blood type was.

well, i made comments on a couple of post already, but i guess i should somehow introduce myself.

i choose the user name to hopefully try and identify my past while working for future changes in myself.

Welcome to the board!

Once you figure out the truth isn't the truth things become much more clearer about the farce of a religion known as Jehovah's Witnesses and when you figure out the Watchtower Society is just a corporation which has managed to fool the governments into believing it is a charitable, nonprofit organization you'll see even more hypocrisy and shady business deals conducted under the guise of religion.

i don't want to turn in my token time anymore.

it's only a few hours counting what we do with the kids.

i don't want it counted for their skewed statistics- or to just for the sake of doing it.

Hell, it's all fudged by every Jehubbah's Witless anyway so just keep turning in some token numbers until you move.

You'll stay off the hounders' radar screens and you will still be doing your part in helping the organization post their inflated figures in the yearly report.

When you do move, visit all of the local area halls, figure out which one has the most senile elders, fewest rules and zealous kingdumb proclaimers and have your cards sent there.

Then attend one or two meetings and mention that your family will be moving out of the area soon.

Don't let any of the dubs know where you live and your fade will be basically pain free and easy.

If your relatives come to visit, attend one of the halls you haven't been to in awhile. If you get love bombed tell your relatives that you are so happy to be in such a loving congregation.

Just a reminder: if there is ever any discussion or debate that is too intense which you don't like then you can visit any one of millions of other web pages instead. Shock horror.
And what is so bad about debate?

Anyone who thinks this forum lacks professionalism and manners needs to visit the JW forum on Topix where they'll see see some real knock-down, drag-out fights.

This forum is mild compared to a lot of others.

Besides that, the Jehubbah's Witness moderators on a lot of JW forums delete any post that faintly criticizes the Watchtower Society/Jehubbah's Witlesses.

I think most of them know something is wrong but the indoctrination is so deep that it overwhelms their common sense.

Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses

i was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.

this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.

it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

Australian Jehovah's Witnesses seem to be better educated than North Americans Jws too. Maybe the Americans and Canadians started saying if they can why can't we.

Have you read the thread on Topix.com about higher education.

One Australian Jehovah's Witness not only has contempt for higher education, she hates the medical profession and claims that anyone who goes to a doctor when they are sick has no faith in Jesus (she actually implies that they hate Jesus).

Her grammar is atrocious.

A 2 year old has better powers of reasoning than she does.

The poor woman swallowed the Watchtower's crazy ideas about education and asked for 3 refills.

When 'worldly' people who have never set foot inside a kingdom hall say that when they see a Jehovah's Witness wearing that junk and see it on local kingdom hall property the first thing that comes to mind is the golden calf you can bet that almost every one who sees that junk except gung-ho JW's recognize the idolatry.

im no longer an ms.. as many would know from our chats via this forum, i've seen it coming for a while....and while the way it was done stinks, i'm really happy to finally be free!.
