  i was raised a jw, third generation.

  grampa was a congregation servant and then elder, my dad was an elder for years.

  i made it up the ranks fast, you were not anybody if you did not become an elder, i was appointed at an early age.

I had to sit through the talk about how "homosexuality in the congregation has caused Jehovah's spirit to leave the congregation and the congregation is now a spiritual wasteland....   When they announce the first gay witness wedding I might - I am not gay, but love all people. Especially if they have an interfaith ceremony with a female priest. [snicker]

  You should have come with me to the meeting a few years back... still snicker about that today!!!!

  i've been dying to see them and i managed to get tickets before they sold out for wembley in november this morning.. has anyone seen them live?

  My Afrikaans is a bietjie kak... wel ek kan dit maar praat, maar my tik is kak!

  Ek was in Rhodesia geboore en waneer ek was al viertien jaar oud na Suid Afrika getrek. Ek was 'n getuie en vieldiens gedoen in Lichtenburg for amper a jaar...daar het ek geleer om die taal te praat. Nou woon ek in Engeland... ek's hier nou 13 jaar en kan NOG die taal praat. En ek het geen Suid Afrikanse vriendiene hier. Waar woon jy?

  These guys should be spin doctors really. Those poor blinded fools who have given up their lives, careers, education for Bethel service being turfed out like this. DISGUSTING.

  I also can't help think of the married Bethel sisters who so desperately pined for children, but were denied that (God given) right and desire by their "need" to stay at Bethel. And what of Tony, the brother at Bethel who told me I was MAD to leave Bethel when I did as he would not want to be anywhere else when Armagedeon hit... wonder what he thinks now.

  i thought it was time i posted here, having been lurking for over 4 years (on and off).

  well my wife is now out.

  we never really discussed the issues i had with the troof, although she of course new what some of them were.

  what a revelation!

  this is my first post and what a revelation this site has been to me (excuse the pun) if only this had been available when i walked away from the "truth" in 1987, it would have made life a lot more bearable for me.. i was brought up a jw and was baptized at 14 because i thought it was the right thing to do, endured a very strict upbringing combined with the dreadful routines of worship, study and door knocking.

  we were deprived of any enjoyment (tv, friends, outings, fun, etc).

  education was a bit of a disruption, having moved to where the need was greater our schooling was interrupted so many times we never made any friends.
