I've seen it worse than not bothering.
Used napkins.
my mom used to throw a paper napkin on her head when forcing us to study after i was baptised.
i've seen scarves, and shawls, and a very few hats.. isn't using a napkin on your head just the same as not bothering?
what a dumb rule too.

thoughts?.
Where are the sources in that article proving dubs were "onto something"? I've never heard any sort of actual evidence that dubs "do better after nonblood surgery". Some people have claimed that, including that wacko at that noblood site, and when I looked up the references they did not contain evidence.
Let's remember, dubs encouraged blood transfusions in their literature until around the 1940s. Then suddenly the cult leaders craved a novel way to set their members apart, make them exclusive.
And this they found in blood. NOT because of any medical "knowledge". Because of New Light in their religious doctrine. They weren't "onto" anything. Their religious teaching happened to have a few unintended side effects, good and deadly.
Even in the 1970s when Hepatitis was being transmitted to millions, or in the 1980s when HIV was doing the same thing, did the dubs ever say you shouldn't take blood because of those things. They only claimed it after the fact, after science identified those viruses.
Over the centuries, they made a bunch of BS claims exaggerating the risks of blood and lying about the benefits.
mmkay. You can read more in a publication by Kerry Louderback-Wood, Jehovah's Witnesses and Blood: The Tort of Misrepresentation. (I think I got the title right.)
Vietnam and our last dumb wars made it necessary to treat combat soldiers with something quicker, better? then BT.
Good point. This is me. The last few nonblood products that went on the market to treat bleeds were developed due to military needs. If jehooplas were really catalysts for this sort of thing, why only nonblood surgery and not nonblood products to treat bleeding?
yes, i threw my wt library out: my recycle bin was full.
even if i had imagined this experience to be similar to a prisoner getting rid of his chains, this was not so.. instead, it brought up all the memories i had shared with my family where we were excited about the release of the revelation book; the clear feeling of ultimate knowledge when we showed the live forever book, the questions i had practiced with my family in the organized book, my cousins who got baptized as well.
somehow, all i could think of was only the good memories i had shared with my family and almost cried about it.. and then, i started to think of the division, the hatred and the pain that became prevalent in my family as some were disfellowshipped and thus, ostracized.
The high control nature of the org is to deliberately highlight only positive things about itself in the memories of members. Sometimes it works.
Not your fault.
hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.
i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.
we do about 2 bible studies a week.
There are jws who do not know about the Y restriction.
And this lady is STUDYING. Jeez people, calling her names?
OP, please keep asking your questions and don't be discouraged by the way you were treated. Many of us have been terribly abused and manipulated by this religion, and we're bitter. Also, there have been many fakers on this site trying to stir up trouble, so if anyone says something a slightly bit off-center, they tend to get jumped on.
Keep thinking, keep your inquisitiveness. You're on the right track.

There is no "happy medium" on anything in the JW religion. You can verify this with the people you're studying with.
So because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.
Revelation — Its Grand Climax at Hand p.72
Christendom's religionists were lukewarm to an appalling degree. Instead of welcoming our Lord's return in 1914*, her clergy got embroiled in the slaughter of World War I, in which 24 of the 28 contending nations claimed to be Christian. How great their bloodguilt! During World War II, which was also fought largely in Christendom, false religion's sins again "massed together clear up to heaven." (Revelation 18:5)
*FYI, the 1914 doctrine has been totally changed since this was published.
the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.
ITA with the OP.
I do believe though, when we're talking about window washers giving people false and harmful legal, medical, psychological and marital advice, then it's appropriate to call them a derogatory term that refers to their arrogant pursuit of these acts despite a total lack of qualifications.
well there you have it folks.
they have passed around pieces of paper for each publisher to write.
down how much they are willing to give the society every month for their entire lives!.
Still giving each person a slip of paper and telling them to think about how much they can give per month is still a form of control and power trip. I don't take kindly to anyone telling me what to do. And they messed up big time by pulling this stunt.
Agreed, and it's the sort of thing the Borg has poked fun at other churches for doing, for over 100 yrs, IIRC.
Asking people to pledge for a monthly voluntary donation is not charging anything, nor is it a fee.
I think it's important to be accurate when we're venting.
i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.
i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .
i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.
I just want to know that someone out there has been through something like this and that maybe all this anguish and depression and feeling hopeless will go away.
Of course, there are many of us.
It will go away over time.
This guilt is not coming from your parents anymore. It's coming from inside you. You were brainwashed (not a pretty word, but it's true) to feel this way. And now you need to unbrainwash yourself.
Your parents' behavior may never change, but your reaction to it can.
russel is burried under the pyramid.
according to none other than frederick franz himself, in his own words!.
i read some wt trolls on here trying to say that he is under the marker a few feet away.. that is not true.
I agree it doesn't matter much. Maybe only as a source of interest to wt history buffs or trivia hounds.
It doesn't matter to those who are out really, and those who are in believe it's just a body. They have no doctrine making a dead body of any significance.
I guess it could matter if there was some sort of lie or conspiracy about the burial...
I put on a tissue tee and he said, "Oh honey, your shirt is threadbare."
