i was already on my way to my second fade when i went to the wildlife photographer of the year 2012 exhibition, but this photo made me lose faith in the idea of a loving creator......(the gazelle has been injured by the mother cheetah so she can use it to train her cubs to hunt).

With all due respect to krejames, it's not awful. It's how cheetahs, and every other large predator, lives. When large predators are exterminated, a biomes health deteriorates as the herbivores, like gazelles and deer, reproduce beyond the capacity of the land to support them, as Aldo Leopold explains so eloquently in Thinking Like a Mountain. It does, however, tend to poke holes in the whole benevolent designer theory.
How is being eaten alive, after being terrified daily by predators chasing you and your babies, not awful?
Yes it's how they live, and it's awful.
"Not awful" would be no overpopulation in the first place, and those that live get to do so in reasonable freedom from fear, torture, hunger, pain and disease.
I've had many cats over the years and none of them killed for hunger. They killed for sport, left the corpses on the doorstep and came inside to eat catfood. They cornered their prey and played for hours with them, preferring them to be half dead so they could have more fun, if I let them.
Dolphins rape, etc. The animal kingdom is brutal and there is no good creator behind any of it.

Its like a political party, or a national identity, a brand loyalty, it needs symbols, the jw org website is a symbol for them, then the objects, the white flags, hats, pins
I wonder why they didn't select a white glove instead of a white handkerchief. I mean, that would have been really cool. They could have gone for the world record on the number of people dancing to Thriller simultaneously.

They are required to file certain forms and the public is entitled to those. The government says you should ask the org first to send you copies. I got no response to 2 requests. Then I told the gov't I got no reply so I'd like it from them directly. Used the FOIL lingo and everything. No response.
So I think what it would take is for someone to move through all those steps, keep documentation (certified mail receipts), and then file a complaint with the government for not honoring the FOIL.
Go for it.

hot flushes and facial sweating, the most noticeable to others.. a sister i knew used to laugh and pretty much, mock me.
i used to say "you wait till you get them" , without being nasty.. i seriously hope she suffers.

jdubs have little sympathy for anyone or anything unless Mother Borg specifically directs them to. They have no natural kindness, only displaying kind-like behavior if programmed to do so.
It sounds like her ignorant lifestyle that lacks normal knowlege and social skills is punishment enough.

My guess, not having been there myself of course, is that you symbolize his son to him and that's what the emotion is about.
I had a similar thing happen when an old peer of mine got into some trouble at the kh--I think DFd. Her dad came to see me and broke down emotionally, begging me to come back to the meetings because he didn't want me to die at Armageddon. He had never had any sort of emotional discussion with me ever, and this conversation took place in a public area with people he did not know observing in shock.
“And I will listen, and then maybe I can tell you, and you can listen to me.”
That could mean he wants to express doubts, but it really sounds to me like he wants to bring you back to the fold.

Perhaps my biggest mistake when two elders met with me at home to question me about whether I was unapologetically gay was to ask them if they wanted me to give them full-body massages before we began the discussion.

The Normal Heart (movie)
by rebel8 infinally got the guts to watch it last night.
it was so heartbreaking.. i was a partially brainwashed teenager when the story depicted in the movie happened, a few hundred miles away.
i remember the advocates' angry outbursts on tv and the dying men in hospital beds, holding hands.. being a sheltered jw, i had no exposure to homosexuality and only the twisted teachings of the wts to taint my views.

Ok, so I have been really deep in thought about this movie and why it affected me so much. Here's what I figured out, in case anyone is still reading this.
I don't know why I need to talk about this but it is bothering me, so here goes.
In the 80s I was a jw teen with hemophilia in NY, where the AIDS crisis essentially began in the US. I had not had my medicine for a long time because of dubbery.
Once news came out about AIDS, the dubs practically tripped over themselves jumping for joy, that jehoopla was vindicated. I remember that being said at the conventions and the thunderous applause. It was like when he told the jews to bury their poop--he had his reason and you should follow it by faith even before science tells you why.
Everyone expected me to be gloating over this more than most, because I had risked more by not taking blood. Barf. Instead I just found that attitude despicable.
I was in the 4H Club, as they called it, and the dubs pretty much thought all of us were evil. Haitians because of voodoo, homosexuals, heroin addicts, and hemophiliacs because the root of the word means "like blood" and jehovah hates people who like blood.
My peers were dying and I was terrified. No one seemed to be actually taking action to stop this crisis, only to gloat over the sinners who deserved the virus.
That is, no one except ActUP and Gay Men's Health Crisis, who were speaking out, advocating and actually helping people.
National Hemophilia Foundation took money from organizations who deliberately distributed tainted clotting factor for profit and testified against their own members in court.
My supposed advocates were turncoats at the worst moment in our history, when we needed them the most. And gay men's advocates were providing housing, comfort, and getting laws passed to help stop the spread of the disease and treat it. Sometimes they were even using in-your-face tactics to push for change. Mine were helping the enemy.
Could homosexuals be so evil then? Could a loving, intelligent god really feel that a penis in a vagina=good but a penis going in an opening 2 inches south of the vagina=totally evil?
I remember seeing dying men holding hands in the hospital, and thinking that seems so sweet and loving. How is this evil? It gave me the opportunity to examine what I had been taught by the dubs.
So my religion betrayed me by not letting me get medical care and then pretending as though god made the rule because he knew about this virus, and my advocacy organization betrayed me. The only ones who seemed to be doing the right thing were ActUP and GMHC. Which one of these organizations is good and which is evil, I wondered.
I am grateful to GMHC and ActUP for reducing the spread of the virus. I probably owe my negative status to them.
