  Whenever the publications quote people going on about how they love preaching, it makes me want to gag. What a bold-faced lie. I seriously doubt there's a sane person alive who enjoys that crapola.

  What is donotlink?

  Linking to dubious websites

  You've all heard there's no such thing as bad publicity. On the internet this is doubly true. When you link to a website — regardless of the reason — this strengthens its position in search engines. This means that a bad review of a website makes it more popular.

  When you are discussing or alerting others to a website that promotes a fraud, scam, cult or other questionable business and you link to that site, search engines will (after a while) improve the offending site's rank.
  Therefore, more people will find these shady websites, and will be exposed to their content without getting the proper context.

  That's where donotlink comes in.

  With donotlink.com, you can link to sites without giving them "Google juice".

  Donotlink uses three different ways to block search engines from crawling a link. So you can post the link on forums, message boards, facebook, twitter, reddit, and other public places without giving shady websites any undue credibility.

  What does donotlink do?

  Using donotlink.com instead of linking to questionable websites directly will prevent your links from improving these websites' position in search engines.

  How does this work?

  Much like standard url shorteners, donotlink creates a shortened url to the website you submit. Just use this url instead of linking directly to the website, and we'll do the rest.

  If you don't want to visit donotlink.com every time you use this service, you can also put "http://www.donotlink.com/" before the website's url like this:

  http://www.donotlink.com/www.example.com/shady/stuff.html

  How does this prevent search engines from crawling the website?

  Donotlink routes links to questionable sites through a unique intermediate url that forwards the visitor to the destination through javascript.

  • This url is blocked in our robots.txt file, so (search engine) robots are discouraged from crawling it.
  • The "nofollow" attribute of the link and the intermediate page give robots another reminder to not crawl the link.
  • If a known robot does decide to crawl the link, our code will identify it and serve it a blank page (403 Forbidden) instead of redirecting to the url.

  But we don't stop there. We are continually improving our algorithms — a clever combination of blacklists and bayesian inference — that identify crawlers and bots, so even search engines and scrapers that don't play by any rules will get caught out.

  I had been texting a boy from another JW congregation and sent him a picture of us on the beach… which meant we were in bikinis. Unfortunately, his mother went through his phone and came across our “horrible” photo. It led to Church elders coming over to my house to counsel me.They told me I was guilty of making him masturbate.

  some background:josie the miniature schnauzer is now 12 years old, so she's old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.

  however, she insists on peeing in the middle of my beautifully tended lawn, which, as a consequence, is now covered in brown patches.

  i've remonstrated with her a number of times and each time she purports to show a diplay of repentance, that is, she slinks away on her belly with her ears flattened down tightly to her head.

  Obviously this is your fault. You failed to demonstrate the correct place to pee.

  First you need to rectify that. Second you need to bring her into a small room with several older dogs, who will interrogate her as to why she is not baptized at such an old age and investigate her sins. She is probably not even a virgin either.

  I am just in awe of technology. So many of us did speeches like this in classes before the Internet existed, and only a few dozen sitting in the room heard it. Now look at how much easier it is to distribute a message! Hundreds of thousands of people now are not vulnerable to join a cult, just from that single act.

  Getting married when you are spiritually out

  i met this amazing girl about 6years ago at my local congregation.

  i was 100% in back then.

  about 3years ago i woke up spiritually and kept it undercover till a few months ago.. this girl is still very in (but she doesnt really do the things a reaaal jw should do.

  I was 500% out of the borg, and had been for a very long time, when I met mr. rebel8. And once he found out I had been (forced to be) a jw as a child, he asked me to vow I would never go back.

  mr. rebel8 has no cult history himself. He just understands that brainwashing can cause relapses. So think about all that--a non-jw objectively understands the cult relapse potential, and here you are thinking about deliberately entering a relationship with an intent to expose your future children to the cult.

  If a person is "in", it is entwined inside her core self. It's who she is (as evidenced by how painful extraction is).

  Sure, she may feel right now that this difference between you is fine. She's young and still at the age when rebellion and open-mindedness are part of the developmental stage she's at.

  But it is a probable eventuality that she will find herself someday need to bring things to a head, making a painful choice between you and the borganization.
  

  If you are starting out a marriage with this giant divide between you, I worry you are starting a doomed relationship.

  Would it make sense to try to have her bring her decision to a head now, before you get engaged? Let her know what's at stake and give her time to decide. Maybe she will continue to explore the facts with you.
