some of you may know that my parents and whole family do not have any contact with me, apart from my dad who has provided his mobile number for "family business/emergencies".
i never try to contact them anymore after a negative experience after being beaten up trying to break up a streetfight last november when i called my dad and he hung up as soon as he realised it was me crying on the other end.. .
anyway - i decided that just because they want to forget about me i don't have to be the same anymore and i wanted them to know how happy i was.
I think it was the right thing to do. (Happy 30th, BTW )
You are actually partially using a dub technique, ya know. You let them know that when they're ready to come around, you will welcome them. That's what they do to DF/DA/faded people. Of course, you subtracted the whole morally superior thing!

she is jw and obviously i'm not, our relationship has gone almost exactly like many of the ones discribed here, hiding from parents, familly, church, etc.

ok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.
You are right; the Bible does not support the theory that there is one diety who is all-good, all-powerful, and all-knowing. My concept of the Bible is as other posters have said; it is an historical book, but not inspired by the Christian concept of a diety. If you ever get a chance to take a college course on basic philosophy, it will expand upon this concept.
Even if we think some of the Bible is inspired by God, how do we know we're seeing it as it was intended? What about the 100s of books removed from the Bible (not included in the Bible) at the Council of Trent and never replaced? The New Testament was largely written by people who didn't witness the events first hand--what does that say for accuracy? If these events really took place, wouldn't it make sense that at least some people who saw them would take the time to write about them?
When you think about it, IMO, all we're left with is a universe that suggests intelligent design. The rest we really don't know about at all.
yesterday, while i was folding and getting ready my papers for my saturday paper route, i was in the jw chatroom on yahoo.
there were quite a few jws there (which has become an unsual thing - most diehard jw chatters have gone to paltalk where the control over a chatroom is more rigid) and i engaged a couple of these jws.

i would contend that anyone that thinks he/she has a "relationship" with the deity is fooling themselves.
first, you can't imagine an unknowable essence and second, if you try you are dilusional.. any thoughts?.
Spirituality can also mean your pursuit of your internal sense of morality and doing good for others, to accomplish something meaningful in one's life, a sense of calm/peace, a sense of connection to the physical universe and to humanity. IOW, a person need not believe in a diety in order to be spiritual.
The poor old fart should have been put out to pasture and retired years ago. What a pathetic religion that forces a decrepid ailing old man to keep working right up until he snuffs it.
Is there some evidence to support the contention that it was the religion forcing him to keep working until his death, that it was not his personal choice? I realize we all have our issues with religion because of the things we went through, and that colors our perceptions. Honestly though, I've always heard he voluntarily accepted appointment to Pope at age 62 and continued working until death voluntarily. If there's some information to refute that, I'd be interested.

Seriously, this scripture is one of the main reasons I choose not to worship the Christian God. If he does exist and he did inspire someone to say that in his special book, he's not somebody I admire. If he does exist and did not inspire that scripture, then he should have made it known those were not his words.
this has always troubled me:.
i was studying to be babtized although i was raised around the "truth" i still had to have an official study.
so i was taught that i had to go to jehovah in prayer stating my desire to be dedicated and babtized.
I didn't feel a void as much as a pit in my stomach that came from knowing I was doing the wrong thing by obeying my jw mother.
Seriously, though, I always felt a void the entire time I was a dub.
last tuesday my jw nephew 26 yrs old, got df'd.
seems his jw father (my brother) and mother came home and caught him having sex, with a guy!!

...is this is biological sister and your biological brother sleeping together? I know you are using the titles in the dub sense, but then you say the word my before it, and it makes me wonder if you mean biological in addition to "spiritual" siblings.
