It's a great article putting jw extremism in the context of other extremism, and what happened to this individual was totally religious punishment unrelated to any other rationale for homeschooling.

New Loophole Created: You can cheat on your spouse without him/her being able to divorce you

the new "pillowgate" video exposed a loophole in the witnesses´s thinking, showing how dangerous and stupid legalism is.. this loophole is sure to destroy many people´s lives.. 1) they said that two men masturbating at the same time in front of each other does not constitute "porneia".. 2) "porneia" is the only biblical reason for divorce.. 3) from 1) we can also get two women masturbating in front of each other, or a man and a woman masturbating in front of each other, does not constitute "porneia".4) most people would consider masturbating at the same time with another person to be cheating, and a logical reason for divorce.. so this will lead to many witnesses going to the elders and being told that they cannot divorce this person who clearly cheated on them.

then, if this person (the "innocent mate") divorces and marries someone else, then that person would be the one possibly disfellowshipped!the implications of the loophole are so stupid and so damaging!i predict another flip-flop.

"considering things more closely, this is "porneia"... or doubling down on it ("sorry but that is what the biblical limits are") or just fading away into those things that only 1% of jw´s know it´s a rule....

if one of them (man and woman masturbating in front of each other) will stay over night - this will be a biblical reason for divorce.

In Crisis of Conscience, Ray Franz relates the case of a woman who couldn't divorce her husband even though he'd had sex with an animal. That also was not "pornea."

End times "too late for you now" witnessing?

hello there.. i've heard it several times from different people while i was growing up, as well seen some people talk about it here on the forum.

the subject is the jw belief that a time will come before the end where they will change the message that jesus talked about, to one of damnation, where the world will be told something along the lines of "it is too late now".

do any of you have references to jw litterature where they write this?

Disclaimer: I don't believe jesus ever existed, but just to respond to your comment...how do you figure? The bible definitely does say there is a time when it's too late, both in the Old Testament (Noah, Lot, Daniel, Moses, etc.) and in the New Testament.

This article quotes several scriptures that say so.

so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.

now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.

we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

I totally agree with slimboyfat and that is exactly what I do with my relatives and former friends. I contact them if I want to.

You have to understand this in the context of how The Borg treated me, worse than an animal. I have taught myself that I am equally as valuable as other humans and I now act accordingly.

Rule #1: This rule applies to the majority, who been horrible to me. What would it say about my self image if I were to seek a relationship with people who have proven to be bad to me? So they are completely off my list of people I waste my breath on.

Rule #2: This rule also applies to The Horribles. They have made it clear what type of relationship they want to have with me. I will not stoop to chasing after them.

Rule #3: This rule applies to those who have not yet met any criteria to be included in The Horribles Club. They were nice and lost contact with me for various reasons that people lose contact with each other. To them, I have reached out. Most of those don't respond when I reach out, so I follow Rule #2.

I have a special hatred for people who prey upon vulnerable people. We've seen evangelists on this forum do it. We've had posters bilk other posters out of $ (Mouthy). I even started a vigil here for a dying member who (come to find out) didn't exist. Ask anyone who's had cancer how many people try to sell them cures as effective as Miracle Wheat. #45 is proving people can fall for even the most preposterous of claims, so if you're out to scam people, you will succeed if you try hard enough. People suck.

How To Fade Away Cleanly?

this is my first post and hopefully i can get some advice and input.

i have been actively involved with the organization for a little over 10 years now.

i began studying in high school, got baptized and my family fortunately did not.

Does anyone have experiences like this? What were you able to say to the friends to get them to leave you alone without the potential of saying something/acting like an apostate?

I was, sorta. I slowed down and stopped meeting attendance quickly--I don't think I did it gradually. I was a teenager and told my jw mother I refused to participate any longer.

Because she had confiscated all my $, and I was forced to pioneer/own a 4-door car that I couldn't afford/work part time, I couldn't leave the house right away. The elders told her I needed to meet with them, so because I was going to be homeless if I didn't, I did.

I just basically said I don't want to be a jw anymore. They tried to pin sins on me, including apostasy, but they had no evidence. They asked if I believed in the FDS anymore and I said I didn't know. I just kept repeating I won't be attending meetings or FS anymore, and didn't let them put other words into my mouth.

They tried to get me to DA and I said no, I just won't be attending FS and meetings anymore. They dragged on the meeting and I just kept repeating the same basic statement so we had nothing to discuss. They ended the meeting and said I wasn't DFd.

I heard from various dubs for a few months. When they visited my home and work, I said thanks for your concern but I am not interested in discussing this with you. I destroyed all mail without opening it. I moved to another territory to get away from them, which helped.

Since then, I have suspected they DFd me later on. I ask my toxic mother if I am and she has told me both yes and no at different times. Who knows, who cares...it doesn't affect me at all now.

Years later, sometimes I would run into a jw, and they didn't speak to me. That is perfect, because I shun them back. I don't want to be seen interacting with horrible people like that.
