Am i correct?
by angel eyes inthis is just an obsevation from me...ok i dont mean to annoy anyone but is it true or just me?.
i feel that ones raised in the truth are so much better of than us who came in from the world.
i say that because they have family who are witnesses too.

Comments from an elder judt returning from Elders' School
by Room 215 ina good friend and long-time elder just back from patterson, asked me what i thought is he most prevalent problem elders are facing today....told him i had no idea.... he said "pornography" by far the most vexing problem for them... hard to believe, no?.

It's pretty clear that porn, and sex in general is a deep seated problem with the GB.
It is my experience that those who attemp to put controls and guilt on others are the ones guilty of what they consider offensive or even evil.

Angel eyes, as an essentially born-in (2yrs old) with a father who became head elder in my area, I had many adult newbies tell me just how 'fortunate' I was to have the wonderful JW family I had and did not have to find the "truth" on my own as they did.
holy%^&*!! they had no idea what they were saying! and this was when i was no more than 10yrs old. I was inwardly appaled at their blindness.
Some do get 'get out of jail free cards' within the org due to family ties, I have one sister and 'elder' brother for proof.
Shouldn't that throw a large red flag?? Wake up!

Landlord steals security deposit
by besty inhas anybody got any success stories about recovering this sort of debt?.
does anyone know of any companies that would buy the debt?.
i have already contacted an attorney so am familiar with the legal/court route - i'm interested in alternatives..

Besty, speaking as a landlord in CA, what proof do you have that the landlord should not keep all or a portion of the security deposit? Typically a voluntary walkthrough to assess damage vs wear and tear before your exit is offered and may be refused by yourself. Did you do that?
If a Landlord/Tenant checklist and pictorial record prior to your move-in can be supplied by your landlord, things should be straight and acceptable.
Did you do a Landlord/Tenant checlist of the condition prior to move-in or shortly before move-out? Do you have any sort of written or pictorial records?

Was There a Fictional Work Helped You Realize the Truth About the (T)ruth?
by BabaYaga inthe pen really can be mightier than the sword, and even fiction often carries much weight and powerful messages.. did you read a book or watch a movie that made you think?
did an "entertaining" work plant a seed of doubt?.
the first one i can remember making a definate comparison to the witnesses in my mind was ray bradbury's martian chronicles.

i am an avid reader and have read most all the books mentioned so far and watched the movies. yes, they are all eye opening.
from about the 8th grade, movies and the many books i read depicting some form of unconditional love made me realize it did not exist in the jw world and least of all it didn't exist in my family.

My "Disassociation Trio"
by DT inat about the time i learned the truth about the "truth" and disassociated, i started to compose a trio for piano, violin and cello.
it served as both a distraction and an outlet for my emotions at the time.
i finished two movements and was working on a third that eventually evolved into an entirely separate piece.

thank you. i enjoyed it very much. especially the layers. the tone reminds me very much of the piano music i would play when letting the emotions just flow when i was a kid and very unhappy with family and the organization as a whole. at the time i was playing piano at the kh. the time i spent at the piano composing my own, like you, was the most healing and satisfying. although sad, they were heartfelt. do not stop.

i understand what you are saying, mr. flipper, and know only too well the reasons it takes some so long to leave (that was me from abt age 10-27). but, at some point shouldn't self preservation kick in? how about for those who believe in a loving god to trust he/she knows you are a good person? that all things will work out? but if you get caught up in the paranoia of rejection, a person will never gain happiness and freedom. it all comes with a price tag in the world of humanity. yes, i am adamant on this. the only people who get respect from others, whether they agree with you or not is only if that person makes a clean stand.
it's all hard, extremely hard on many levels, but otherwise a life just spins in circles, much like the jw reasoning.

nj -- thank you again.
sometimes more than encouragement and understanding is needed to make a change in our and our children's life's direction. sometimes emotional encouragement and understanding only allows the requesting receiver to simply stay stagnant, thinking, 'well, i'm right and they are wrong, so now i feel better'. but that encouragement and understanding is not as productive as the well wishers wish. it often takes a "hey, get up off your butt and do something positive about it!"
that's what it took for me. acting on what my gut feeling told me was right and to hell with rest of it and what others may think!
What's the old addage? God helps those who help themselves.
i do understand the need to rant and rave, as i am doing now, but action is needed as well.
my best to all...
