I am so angry tonight. There is an elder and his wife who have upset so many with cruel/biting comments. One family of 14 moved away because of them. My wife and I disassociated ourselves because of their cruelty, and another brother/sister are going to move away because of them. Nothing has been done about them, because of the remaining 5 elders, 4 are in their social clique....he is still up there giving talks....so self righteous and I just honestly want to do something physical...like beat him to a pulp....please help me!!!!!!!

were you more 'materialistic' when you were a witness???
by chuckyy init was my experience when a jw that many focussed their lives around...having good holidays...having nice cars (some with private plates)...having perfect houses etc etc.
it all seemed very materialistic to me.
totally the opposite to what was being preached from the platform.

It was my experience when a JW that many focussed their lives around...having good holidays...having nice cars (some with private plates)...having perfect houses etc etc. It all seemed very materialistic to me. Totally the opposite to what was being preached from the platform. The justification always seemed to be:
'Its not having money thats bad...but the love of money.'
That scripture was very frequently used in order, I suspect, of easing consciences. Thing was, I too got embroiled in it, thinking my house wasn't up to standard...that I needed a nicer car etc. I was never like that before I was a JW and have not felt that way since.
Is it just me ??? Was this just my cong???? Or have you had similar experiences too????

Evil...evil...evil.
I am just so angry and so sorry that you and your precious little girl are going thru this. I am going thru the same with my little 5 yr old daughter. My wife and I decided to disassociate following some cruel remarks made about my little girls disability and since then, we are shunned by former friends etc...every day in our small town. Our little girl has realised now what is happening. It is truly evil...it just highlights how shallow the so called 'love' within the JW religion really is. I truly hope that it gets better for you...it will take time...but it will get better.

Jw view of resurrection: will it be you who is resurrected???
by chuckyy ini have always had a problem even when a jw with the wtbs view on the bodily resurrection.
if your body is destroyed following death, and there is no soul, what then is being resurrected???.
?.....its a new body and only a recording of your thoughts that was in gods memory that is put into this new body......how can it truly be the same person???

congregational cliques
by chuckyy init was my experience during my 13 yrs as a jw that congregations usually had a social clique.
in other words, there would be a group of people in a congregation that would only associate (and sometimes only go out on field service too) with people within that social clique.
if you were in the clique, fine.

If you were in the clique, fine. If not, you would be virtually excluded from everything. I have seen people so hurt by this that they even leave the org
Was this sort of thing happening in your congs??? Have you had first hand experience of this????

High rates of depression in Org.
by chuckyy ini noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

An almost uncontrollable anger
by chuckyy ini seem to have had a drastic personality change since i disassociated myself.
i have gone from a relatively calm human being to someone who is full of anger and sometimes what feels like an overwhelming rage because of shunning.
how do you deal with those emotions??

I really feel for you.
My 6 year old has an ongoing heart condition that will shortly result in several ops. Its so terrifying to have an ill child....there is just nothing that you can do about it as a parent....But you will cope and you will stay strong. Be positive although its difficult and please, please, let us know how it goes.
much love

Am I or am I not a Dub?
by upside/down ini've heard in comments here that after 6 months of being "inactive", you're no longer counted and/or taken off "the rolls".
to what degree?
locally or at hq too or both?.
-
chuckyy
Hi there.
I was once an elder and, yes, after 6 months of not engaging in field service, you are classed as inactive BUT you are still classed as a witness and you would not need to rebaptize or rededicate. hope this helps a little.

144000 how can the numbers be right
by chuckyy init suddenly hit me the other day while i was reading about the early christian martyrs:.
if thousands upon thousands of early christians were martyred by romans, how could just 144000 be anointed, as all early christians were anointed.
this as well as the fact that there have been 10's of thousands of anointed in the last century or so.

Surely the numbers don't add up do they??????
