hi there i'm new here, my name is fiona i am not yet a jw and have not started to study yet.
i am very interested in doing so but since i am still new to all this i thought i should attend some meetings first.
i am going to my first one today at the kelvin hall in glasgow, i am quite nervous as i do not know what to expect but also excited at the same time since it could be the beginning of a huge change in my life.
Welcome Fiona (Bug) - I can only echo what others have already posted. Please take care, the teachings of the JW are very attractive - I am sure your appearance at the Kingdom Hall this morning may result in an offer (or 2) of a Bible study - don't get involved too quickly, do what YOU want to, at your own pace.
it could be the beginning of a huge change in my life
<sigh>
i never did become a jw but i did associate with them for a few years by attending meetings, going house to house, and all that fun stuff.
anyway, i have so much in my mind that i cannot possibly say in one post.
basically i saw/heard many things during my association with jw that i just didn't agree with or just made me wonder if they were truly teaching the "truth", which i have recently come to the conclusion that there is no truth.
Welcome adri2 - I look forward to reading your future posts
well - there seems to be so much pondering about what the future holds for dubism - armageddon dates prophesied?
been there, failed to fulfill that - don't think another one would be appropriate - laughable yes, but not appropriate.
how about a re-hash of ancient wt literature?
If this was real imagine how weird it would be. You die in 1913/1914 KNOWING the end is THIS year - and resurrected more than a century later - eeeeek.
back to my book.....

Q.I have risen, and am aware I am different from the other brothers - I died sporting a beard (which I had all my life) and now I have been resurrected into a facially-hairless world -HELP.
A. Although Jehovah approved the wearing of beards from Creation - and indeed for a further 6,000 years, the WTBTS deemed this inappropriate during the last days.

The scary thing is - reading this thread makes me want to get the latest Watchtower
like most on this board, i know the story, have seen the un press release, ect.
but can someone comment on two questions for me?.
who caught them with their hands in the cookie jar?
So they withdrew BECAUSE they were rumbled - disgusting. And what did they ACHIEVE from 9-10 years as members? - if this was any other erligious movement the JW would use it as ammunition, that Jehovah had exposed them via the Observer Newspaper.
i personally feel they will have to "adjust" the fds doctrine.
the tricky thing is that the fds (whoever they are) won't approve this change while they're still alive.
they don't care, they subconsciously feel it's their end anyway and they won't undermine their doctrinal position having lost all corporate power.. so who will send this beam of new light?
A famous "Tower" in Italy was sure to fall because the foundation would not support it anylonger, instead of falling now, many years later is major tourist atraction.
That tower is MAN made, and MAN perdicted it would fall on MAN'S calculations.

BUT if those young ones decide to (after the old ones died shortly) do away with the FDS, 1914
Not possible if God put them there - and if He (God) didn't, then it's all a fantasy.
.
in his own words, on a video interveiw!
.
ColdRedRain - it may help if you give us the gist - as they withdrew FOUR years ago, I assume they have had plenty of time (and rehearsing) to try and limp through this - not a chance!!!

Jehovah?s Witnesses do not make compromises to seek admiration or acceptance.
((am thinking UN - but that's a whole different ballgame)) That's true -they seem to want to ruffle enough feathers in order to be noticed (and THAT serves a purpose).
