  i know i saw a thread on this but can't find it - sorry.. i counted 63 countries with 0% or negative growth reported.

  that is fully 26.8% of all countries in the report.

  there could be more since 29 countries are listed in the 'other countries' line - some of those could be negative also, but they are all clumped and so impossible to know.. baptisms were 262,000. but growth was only about 124,000.

  Look at the bound volumes of the Watchtower and then examine closely the original magazines and see for yourself that the WTBTS has revised them as they see fit and then attempt to destroy or suppress the originals.

  I occassionally look at the Quotes.Watchtower site which I am really grateful for as I don't have access to old publications, as I imagine many don't - but the society has re-hashed its former publications to try and iron out false prophesies any embarrassments? Surely that's deceptive?

  As for the 2004 statistics, I haven't seen a yearbook in many years, and I vaguely remember the reporting of both ''active'' and ''inactive'' publishers - and I was wondering if many of US are boosting THEIR numbers by still being counted as the latter?

  UN Scandal - does anyone know the reason they joined to start with?

  but can someone comment on two questions for me?.

  who caught them with their hands in the cookie jar?

  Sorry - this wouldn't cut and paste so you'll have to make do with the web address - I find it hard that the Society have sent out different excuses when questioned upon this - basically, this letter states :-

  "...YEARS later, UNBEKNOWN to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, the UN published criteria for Association.........After learning of the situation our membership as NGO was withdrawn and the ID card of the writer was returned".

  SO, previously they were yearly agreeing to something that didn't exist??

  ........just looking at the criteria and this struck me too....

  AND I still would like to know what was SO important, what was achieved, that it was worth lying and compromising for?!

  How do THEY count the numbers? As I recall, they used to count inactive publishers (I assume 'faded').....does that mean a lot of US are boosting their numbers?

  New Tactic Used By Society

  ...or not so new-----i'm seeing that they are getting rid of people on false charges.

  to the person, they are going after them and confronting them on whatever it may be but when it comes to official reasons for deletion, they are giving false information.

  this morning, i heard that another elder got deleted for going to a believer/unbeliever's wedding.it was also reported that he was caught "talking to a disfellowshipped person".

  Hmm......am I mistaken (or functioning under "old light"?) but aren't elders ALLOWED to speak with DFed ones?

  I thought that too....and what is this ''deleted''? Is it the same as being asked to ''step down''?

  Governing Body, Blood Guilty Because of Enforcing "No Blood Transfussions"

  what do you think will there every be court cases in any countries(not just usa) because the wt will df people for taking a blood transfussion?.

  since it is a disfellowshipping offence, and since the governing body is responsible for determining what is a disfellowshipping offense for all of jws around the world,,do you think they care a heavy blood guilt for all the "thousands" of witnesses that have already died because they refused blood?.

  it will be interesting to see what develops as far as court cases in the future and as more and more jw get deprogramed the repercussions this will cause for the already reproachable governing body.

  IF ONLY! - but I suppose at the end of the day, it's the INDIVIDUAL that is choosing (on ''moral rules'' given to them) - so in reality, the decision is the person's.

  gotcha - am beginning to suspect you may have a gay daughter - what I think the WORSE thing would be is that she should live a lie for fear of shunning / hatred etc - imagine repressing feelings that are NATURAL to you just because of OTHERS' opinions and prejudices? IF you live in a close knit family group / social group (as you imply) and your daughter, knowing this, has been brave and confident enough to ''come out'', she deserves support as it must have been even more difficult for her to do so - and frankly, my opinion - SOD what anyone else may think!

  Serves me right!

  i gave blood for the first time some 18 months ago, i did it on impulse one day on the way home from work so stupidly i'd not eaten.

  felt fine after and returned home where i started to feel faint and was sick so asked a relative (a jw) to phone me in ill for my pub job.

  their response was 'serves you right for giving blood'.
