The New Light that burned me
by czarofmischief ini was reading the 1975 thread, and considered posting on it, but since i wasn't born until the carter administration, i don't think i really can comment on it.
i can sympathize, however.. you see, i was raised in the truth.
rarely missed a meeting.

I think I have some idea, but now I need a clearer understanding.
I mean... how can "this generation" be a continous thing? -

I had a couple of JW incidents -- when I was very young in the 1980's up until about 1991-'92... can't remember when. But it was before "this generation 1914" thing in 1914.
I am sorry I am stupid, but I get confused by this JW dogma.... I know I should know better, but we know how illogical their arguments right? But will someone explain to me that it's no specific time period? I kinda got the idea that they still thought 1914 was a crucial date but it was for people who were living before and during this era up until 1919. Am I right?
When you talk about numbers, and then somebody does a reverse equation, by brain switches off because he thinks it's stupid. So someone tell me in plain English, Kindergarten English if you like, what they mean by THIS GENERATION now?
An outsider would think that Jehovah lies sometimes, but Jehovah says in the Scriptures that he cannon lie! -

...Well except for the appendix. I felt I didn't need to!
This book is unbelievable!!!!!!!!! I thank the guy (I think he was from the UK) who suggested that I read it. I tells you everything. My mind has opened up to other possiblities. I don't feel (any longer) of having a bad conscience. Ray explains everything.
But... what I found really disturbing was this review on amazon.com! He reckons it's caused hatred and violence in Russia! Quite honestly, I wish I didn't see all the reviews now. But I love to hear what people say. Anyway here it is:

Used to Promote Violence and Bigotry, June 29, 2001
Reviewer: H. Schmitz (High Point, NC United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Reviewer Kristina Gonzalez claims this book saved her life, yet daily we are receiving reports from those in Russia of the atrocities performed Jehovah's Witnesses, especially in the Georgian province. Interestingly, in order to fuel the cycle of hate and violence against Jehovah's Witnesses there, Ray Franz's polemic "Crisis of Conscience" has been translated into Russian and posted on the internet for free viewing. Franz claims to want to "help" others with his book...but instead it is being used in a most hateful fashion. I hope you can live with yourself Ray. I hope you can sleep at night, knowing your book is helping to destroy lives of your former brothers in Russia and turn the fight for religious freedom back to the dark ages. Frankly, I couldn't live with myself if I was in your shoes. If Kristina thinks Franz book promotes Christian Freedom, the facts speak otherwise. This goes for others also, like Ron Rhodes, James White, Rob Bowman, Walter Martin etc. If you only knew how your writings are being used to incite hatred, you might think twice.

I am sorry, maybe you think I am stupid, but I was really upset after reading this review!!! IT'S SO ARROGANT AND CLOSED MINDED!!! Other people suffer too you know Heinz...
How would you people deal with reviews like this? I am sorry this is another stupid thing to say I know. I am just curious...
I think people would hate JW's anyway! Look what happened to them in Malawi, Germany and Australia. I didn't realize until recently that the JW activity was banned in Australia too. All these events took place long before this book was written.
I don't like this guy. I have looked at his site: http://www.geocities.com/yhwhbible/main.htm... I haven't looked at everything, but I think it's ok, but I have contacted him a couple of times and he is so arrogant!
I think he must of read Crisis of Conscience and couldn't come to terms of how bad they were and are (because he is bloody brain washed) so he just takes it out on those who tell the truth -- like Raymond Franz.
I think the JW's bring about hatred on themselves due to their high leve of arrogance! -

Littletoe,
I have undoubtly written so many things on this thread... and so I don't know if I've repeated myself... but I'll say it again if I haven't already done so... I like the King James version too, but I wouldn't rely on it thought for accuracy, but that's just my opinion. I like many Bibles -- accurate or not. I like the NWT as well. But I think people would hate me for liking that one. :( It's alright if they like the King James, but if I like the NWT they think there is something wrong with you. It's a double-standard. I just hope people like you can love your King James' Authorized Bible... and people like me like the Fred Franz' New World Bible. That's all I care about. I am saying this to you and other people.
And if people think the NWT is inaccuarate, I don't care.
I think it's outrageous how people defend this King James Bible, but have a go at my favorite one.
Everybody has their own thing they like, you know for different reasons. -

I am totally confused about the new "DF and DA" announcements for March 05
by booker-t ini am totally confused by the new way jw's will be kicked out of the wts.
since they no longer will be classified as df or da can i get a refund on my da and no longer be viewed as "satan" by my former jw friends and family.
how will jw's know if someone is df or da if they are announced "no longer one of jw's?

I thought at times (even before I read this post!!!! -- I am sorry to disapoint you people! Please don't hate me) that you were a bit too hard on the WTS changing it's policies.... BUT YEAH!!! I AM SO SICK OF THEM CHANGING THEIR POLICIES ALL THE TIME!!!!!! Why do they have to change things all the time! lol (histerical laughter.)

hi inquirer,
it's ok to disagree, but those prophecies are just not there. just ask a jew why he doesn't think jesus was the messiah.
do a little more research on pseudepigraphic writings. you seem to only know very few of them. i've read that "poor quality" argument in some books about apocrypha, but if you read them for yourself, you'll find out that it's just not true.
and i don't know what's the big deal about jerome. btw he said (and luther repeated) that the catholic deuterocanonica are worth reading and educational.
That Luther was awful! He killed about 100,000 peasants! He didn't like ordinary people demanding more rights even though he thought the Catholic church was corrupt! So, I don't like Martin Luther.
Well, I don't understand why you won't accept the prophecies that were fulfilled?
I think we have serious disagreements, we'll never agree on anything on this sort of subject.
I don't know where you are coming from anymore. An outsider to this conversation would think we are deliberately being blind to the other's "facts." You think you are right, I think I am right. I think I have said all I wanted to say now...
I would never ask a Jew why Jesus is not a Rabbi. I wouldn't be happy with his answer. Once a religion is formed, it's always around in some way or form. The Jews will always believe there Genesis-Malachi part of the Bible only. Most Christians believe in the Genesis-Revelation, some add an additional 10 more books. Sects form, new Christian denominations are formed, but they all evolve around the same basic things, they just highlight different issues that are important to them. So what I am saying even if I proved someone wrong, people would still be stuck in that mould, but at the same time would think I am stuck in my mould unwilling to change. An outsider seeing this we make up his mind on what is right or wrong... you or me? Or he might think none of us right! And that explains the new sect here and there... There's more and more all the time. Anglican non-gays, Anglican gays for instance. -

What Annoys You???????
by minimus inone of my pet peeves is being behind a too slow driver.
it "drives" me crazy!
-
inquirer
As regards to driving: People who overtake you even know they are going in the same direction to you and then you go to a red light and you think "what on earth for."
People who park there cars in busy intersections near the corner.
People who park temporarily in illegal parking zones but then if you want to turn in that lane, they start their car and go and wait and the traffic lights.
In Australia, people don't sweep glass up on the road!
There's lots of things I don't like! I could go on and on! I've only talked about driving!
...I don't like when people shun you even though you don't want to be a JW anymore. -

................!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you talk about Australian JW's.... you'd think we were a pretty laid back bunch, but they are pretty hard core! So treacherous Down Under!!!! Even years ago, they were hardcore and not negotiable....... There's no denying a JW. THEY ARE..... WHAT THEY ARE.... BE AWARE! (looks to left and the right)
Me being on here is living proof!
