leolaia,
Some of those things you talked about are not even the Bible! Odes of Solomon was written by a Pharisee! Did you know that? Do you like the Bible more or do you like these apocryphal writings?
The didache is ok, but apart from Greek Scripture Apocrypha, there is not much else. Hebrew Scripture Apocrypha is so much better -- But then again, it's not the Bible. Someone just made it all up!

Bible parts I like
by Cygnus init took me a reading of thomas paine's "age of reason" to see what the craziness in the ot had.
that and many other more contemporary works showed me how jesus was a complete fraud.
but there are stories in the bible that are unmistakably brilliant in their pace, action, and adventure.

The Cross
by I-CH-TH-U-S ini know there has probably been many discussions on this and ive been given answers with some confusing statements from jw's as well as proffessors and i just want it simplified (if that is possible), i want to know if it is possible to prove the crucifixion was on a cross (in simple terms) .
so far my own personal research which involves the biblical aspect combined with the scientific area has led me to believe the cross.
my research: .

Putting aside the scientific analysis for a moment. John 20:25 doesn't prove it's a cross or stake! The nails would have obviously went in his feet as well. Or they would have had "supporting nails," just to make sure he would stand upright on the stake properly -- maybe they had a problem with erecting Jesus' stake!

What was the truth when you joined the Org?
by JH in.
when i joined the jw org.
the truth was that we were separating sheep from goats by preaching door to door.. today this isn't so.. name a few truths that were true back then but are lies today.. .

I came in, I was a little boy when they changed the baptism questions! Org instead of Jesus! :)
But seriously, I am going to say something controversial for a moment and I don't care what any of you think. I wish the Watchtower was right about armageddon coming around the corner, but only about it's arrival. And then see on the Watchtower get judged about what they did as well as ALL the other churches. I think it sucks personally how it's 2005. Terrorist attack on New York (didn't that change everything!!!???), wars in the middle east -- Iraq, Afghanistan... Iran?, globalization... free trade... I think we've gone through enough as human beings throughout the centuries. :( It's been way too long since Christ and now it's the 21st century. :( I think we've let this world go really downhill it's about time the Savior came around. :( -

jgnat,
Last year there was an article on the preaching work, and they even let go the necessity to gather in as much of the harvest as possible. The article intimated it is enough to "spread the seed", or, distribute magazines. -

There's probably nothing wrong with Christmas or Easter -- it's when it gets wrapped up in Christianity that it becomes a problem -- that's the thing that offends me!
Adding Christ + Santa to the equation.
Adding Jesus' death + the Easter Bunny "" ""
It's like me walking down the street professing to be Christian but teaching from the Koran! It doesn't match!! If people loved the Bible so much, they wouuld ONLY talk about Jesus at the memorial at the time of Nisan and get rid of all this blatant materialism and paganism. People only like Christmas because it's money made easy for mega greedy capitalist shopkeepers!
Also even the pronunciation is dropped And Christ sounds like "Chris/Kris." From long "I" to short "I." (I know the reasons because it's always been the accepted way of talking in English to speed up the language and not worry about the syllables, yeah yeah... "mn" instead of "man" at the end of such last names like "Freeman.")
Wedding wings and (probably veils that women wear) on wedding day is pagan origin -- But people don't bat an eye lid at that! The days of the week...
But a wedding is nothing more than a procession for entering and registering up in marriage -- I don't know how they looked in the time of Jesus Christ but Jesus himself went to a wedding, remember!?
I don't remember this European looking guy with a thick bushy white beard who wears a red suit that looks about 60-70 years old having a good laugh with Jesus and Jesus making commandments saying things like "this is my friend, Santa Claus." "If you do not like him nor will I have any love in you nor will you get in the kingdom of God."
People should start talking about Jesus and cut down the Christmas trees. -

Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Peace Sells
What do you mean I don't believe in God?
Talk to him every day
What do you mean I don't support your system?
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean I can't get to work on time?
Got nothing better to do
What do you mean I don't pay my bills?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
If you like metal, you should listen to this song, it's just too good! Surprised to learn that he is a Born Again Christian these days like Danny Haszard! :) -

Why DOESN'T Ray Franz post here?
by AlmostAtheist insilly question.
he wrote the best known ex-jw book.
the title is even known among faithful dubs.. it's hard to imagine that he's not interested in the topic.
