kid-A (But everyone else can read it of course! :) ),
to everyone and kid-A,
sore thumb... Not all of it was a waste of time. Some of the people I met (not many) were good. Some were literally quite nice. Some of the book studies and Watchtowers were informative, Daniel and Isaiah's Prophecy (I wasn't a JW at that time, but books like that I enjoyed reading) and help me to have a basic appreciation for God. Maybe the people around me were sour grapes, but the information from those books I liked. To me, I am the opposite in opinions about the Awake! magazine -- I find it incredibly boring. The Awake is my "Watchtower" magazine. I know, I know, I am the sore thumb bloke. But that's just how I am.
It's very exhausting! It's obvious the JW's were set up by middle class Americans!

Calculate the number of days you gave to the watchtower....
by kid-A ini spent 26 years in the borg, having been born in.
i conservatively estimated devoting a total of 8 hours/week in terms.
of preparing and attending meetings and threw in "assembly" and "convention" time to the equation.

None so far. Usually I get very impatient when I try to rationalize with people. I have a friend that I am working on that seems hopeful. Fingers crossed! :)

Are You In a Cult and Want Out?
by lonelysheep inare you in a cult and want out?
do you feel you're involved in a cult?
did you join a group or community because you believed in its values only to feel you've been deceived?

Maybe there are people who are in a cult like the JW's where those in control use theocratic warfare ™®© as a way to control the rank and file, but don't want to come on Dr Phil because of the baby chairs! :D lol They hope there's a little less patronizing way to tell our problems with others. :D

How long did it take you to get over it?
by AK - Jeff inone of the posters here - before i knew she was a poster here - in fact before i knew of this site at all, sent me an email early on in my exit.
she likened the whole leaving thing with grieving over a dead loved one - said it took most about two years to work thru all the phases of that loss - denial, anger, etc.. i think she had it about right - that's about how long it took me.
but without jwd it would have been longer.

These days I am more concerned of how to survive in this very competitive global economy.

LittleToe,
A couple of months. However there are occasions when it breaks back into my life through my family. Unfortunately it always will. Meanwhile I attempt to just shrug it off and get on with the business of living!
Yay! That's the way to do it! :) I think it's normal that you think about it from time to time. Because it's apart of your history. People will always think bad things like 9/11. :( PARTICULARY IF YOU LIVE IN NY!!!! -

I may have said this before but I like my NIV Women's devotional bible better than the NWT that I have which I keep in my garage...if I had a firepit I'd probably burn it.

Do you only like your edition of the NIV because it's devotional towards women? The Bible is for everyone: man, woman, child. Just my 5 cents.
How you feel about the NWT is how I feel about the English Standard Version and the New International Version... -

It would be good if the general public had more diverse opinions.
*Trinitarian Churches, unitarian churches, as well as those who believe in Jesus and Jehovah as the same, but not the trinity (can't remember the word.)
*Those who love the NWT -- JW's, and other Christians alike.
*Those who love the NAB -- Not many people say this one for some reason.
*Those who love to use God's name whether it would be those who prefer Yahweh or those who prefer Jehovah.
*Those who love the NIV. Those who love the KJV... that's obvious WE HEAR THESE PEOPLE LOUD AND CLEAR EVERYDAY! :) LOL
There are far too many people who are Catholic or Anglican or trinitarian. A little religious diversity would be far more interesting! :)
