by SickofLies inthis time they really did call the police on me lol!
they backed out though, they called, then canceled the call after a while and the police never came to charge me with recording them, pitty really.. http://www.quad-central.com/~dan2007.
there is the link, i was unable to edit the audio file like i usually do to take out the blank spaces and amplify the volume, so if someone could do that with the wav file on the server that would be great!.

It's funny they threaten to call the police WHO USE GUNS AND NIGHTSTICKS ON PEOPLE (or capsicum spray, they do that in Australia now...)
The guy on the left wanted to knock your block off man! The other elders should have pulled him away to prevent potential violence. You could have had him charged if he was going to punch you in the face! They didn't act Christian... I don't they could have used a bit of Bible counselling for setting matters straight rather than go at you like maniacs. I am surprised of how similar that looks to my old Kingdom Hall even though I am in Australia. I've forgotten how how boring the old shacks look! Just my 5 cents. -

Do the Original books of the Bible still exist?
by Gill ini was talking about a born again neighbour of ours on my topic on 'is j k rowling a witch?
' today.. one thing, during our discussion that she brought out was that she had actually seen first hand the original books of the bible.
i told her that the whole, unconditional, originally written scrolls books as first put down, 'pen to paper' as it was no longer existed.. she said she had seen them herself in israel and hence 'knew for certain that these bible books are from god!'.

NO WAY IN THE WORLD DO THE ORIGINALS EXIST. The closest thing you call to as an original is what Leolaia was talking about -- a fragment from Gospel John.
(I would love to have a time machine and take a look at the originals though!) :) -

If the New Testament included only the Gospels.....
by Spectrum in.... what would christianity be like today had the rest of the nt been rejected or turned into apocrypha?
was christ's teaching enough to give momentum to this religion beyond the first christians?
or did christ's teaching need augmenting with pauline doctrines?

It's amazing how many times people debate New Testament Scripture, but never the OT books! Why are the OT books alway all so sacred, and that the Jews were so good at keeping the canon and there can be only 39 books in their part of the Bible. If most Jews were Christian at first, surely a historian can track down what books they used and match up the writings... And they did got the canon "sealed" a few centuries after, but before it was sealed they had a pretty good idea of what books were canonical and what wasn't. The Muratorian fragment helps, which was translated from a Greek original in 170 AD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muratorian_fragment
The Muratorian fragment is a copy of perhaps the oldest known list of the books of the New Testament. The fragment lacks its beginning and ending, and is a 7th century Latin manuscript, which internal cues identify as a translation from a Greek original from around 170. People back then like the ante-nicene fathers may have had shoddy beliefs, but had a basic understanding of canon, even though there was a few books they accepted that were non canon... But how many writings were there back then? And many did they disgard as heretical gnosticism? Heaps! Not that I don't read Apocryphal books, I think they contain interesting information. No wonder we have the canon today, the Catholic Church (one of those times I would agree with them) didn't hide any NT books. ...They don't think the NT is inspired, but leave that for another day.... -

Dang! I thought for sure he'd left the WTS!
by Confession inokay, so i just woke up from my watchtower life coma on september 15, 2004. in july of 2005 i moved 2300 miles away to southern california in an attempt to fade.
i haven't communicated with any of my former jw friends... but i thought this one old friend was sure to be safe.... years ago when i was an elder, he used to find all sorts of stuff about jws on the internet--and (as we were very close) he'd ask me about it.
he'd been an ms for awhile, then eventually began drifting back.

How did you cope?
by Zico inwhen you found out that this religion probably wasn't the one true religion like you had believed probably for a large portion of your life, or maybe even all of it, how did you react?
my whole life belongs to the society.
all my friends are witnesses, my family are witnesses, even my job is dedicated to the society.

Even if something seemed true like what I thought about the JW's, YOU SHOULD ASK GOD. Just like you have people who help you with financing, mortgages, technical support for computers, Internet researching... -- Just like praying to God as an expert, ask the "trade" experts first!

This is a bit off topic, but if the JW's didn't treat us like crap, we'd never know how bad it was -- unless you leave for doctrinal reasons. So I am glad they treated me like crap, it was a blessing in disguise! Funny thing with me, I prayed to God about everything, BUT NEVER PRAYED TO GOD IF THIS WAS THE RIGHT RELIGION!!!! How sad was that! I even had Mormons come around my door and THEY ASKED ME TO PRAY IF THEIR (MORMON) RELIGION WAS TRUE! HOW SAD IS THAT -- NEVER DID I PRAY REGARDING MY OWN RELIGION! God didn't tell me that the Mormon religion was true and I went to a couple of their meetings out of curiosity, because being new to Sydney, I never heard of this <expletive> before.
