*They would have to get rid of paedophiles.
*Stop records on people (personal ones, not field service ones.)
*The would have to apologize for their UN involvement and other bad wrongs like guessing when the end will come -- no one knows!!!! But they guessed heaps of times! This is unscriptural surely!
*They would have to be more "easy going" and have genuine love for brother and sister. One time when me and these other Witnesses were at this restaurant and I felt really full. And I said "Boy! I feel like Santa Clause at the moment!" I really did feel that full. But the elder went really quiet when I said that and frowned at me a bit! Take it easy mate! I always think of that scirpture about having "love amongst yourselves!" So they aren't Jesus' disciples!!!!!
*No heirarchy -- only should be done to "guide the flock" in a loving way, literally.
*They should try to help people in lots of ways: marriages, girlfriends, shelter, employment.
*Change the songs from time to time! Make it vibrant or something! Do like what the 7th days do! I remember going to that church a couple of times. They are pretty similar to Witnesses!
So things like that. But the chances of these things happening is dancing with Britney Spears!

Is the need to be in a religion a personality trait....................
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inlike the idea that alcoholics have a particular gene, certain mannerisms we inherit from parents or grand-parents, red hair is a recessive gene etc.
is religion inherited as a life style or emotional dependency?????????????????
is it low self-esteem and the need for others to decide what is right and wrong, how to live and even die???????.

BLISSISIGNORANCE, I think a number of factors can influence it.
If you are poor you are more likely to be religious. If you are rich you don't care about it because you already got everything.
Some people are drawn to it more than others because of personality, yes.
You have to "hear" something before you accept it and go to that church. Unfortunately a lot of people on here "heard" about the JW org. and have been hurt by them a lot, like me. Unfortunately for me too, a lot of their doctrines are fact. Some people are a cynic at heart and would be saved by not falling in the trap of ogranization religion like the JW's.
There are lots of people I know and in the media you think to yourself that person would never be religious because they are too sporty, too wealthy, too cynical or what have you. -

OldSoul is Temporarily Offline
by jst2laws inoldsoul asked me to start a thread to let you know he will be offline for a short time.
he did not know if it would be a few days or a week or so.
he very much regrets this sudden absence considering he has made many friends in a short time and may have left a discussion or two in suspension.

I knew about this site ages ago. And I always thought it was a good site. There's always an interesting discussion here and there. Always.
Before I had my doubts about joining. I thought "well they are apostate like," "maybe it's too negative." I was dealing with the Witnesses last year for the 2nd time (I might talk to you about the story one day!!) and that was when I was "cautious" about joining.
But now that I don't go the Kingdom hall, I recently thought to myself "blow it. I'll join up! I may not agree with everything that's posted, but they sure have some interesting conversations!!!" So I joined!
I haven't come across a message board like this where it's really deep conversation! I hope it's always like this! -

(This question does not include the field service one. The little introduction and then the preaching after it.)
When I went, I thought the most useless meeting was that Kingdom Ministry meeting. Where they have the mock door-to-door preaching on stage (roll eyes.) And they have those service announcements that don't mean much. I used to giggle at those because they are too specific about everything.
The "kingdom ministry" meeting is just one pathetic little talk after another... And you full to sleep when someone reads from the Bible! It was so stupid because a lot of them sounded amateurish! They should give real opinions to try to help them! That's why I liked Simon Cowell of American Idol. He helped people, he explained all on this British talk show Parkinson. He is actually a very well-reasoned person. Very logical. Very honest. Good bloke.
But what do you people think? Do you agree? Do you think they should have abolished this meeting always?
I always thought they should have merged the meetings at least. Half hour Sunday talk, instead of 1 hour. .5 hour Watchtower study... and perhaps have a book study on that too... just a glance or something.
I remember with the "kingdom ministry" meeting, they use to use that gay (it can also mean awful to some people like me) little room for people who were new or young giving those typical "encouragement talks" or something. And then I went back their last year and it's all done in the "big room" now. Doesn't take the boredom away anymore than before! -

i think the KJV is great, especially the Skeptics Annotated Bible (SAB).

That's just someone's stupid moral opinion of what the Bible should be like! The problem with this guy is, he comes from the "non-religious" point of view.
It's a bit like if someone passed you a book on poetry and you were into car mechanics. You wouldn't think much of the poetry therein! -

How come other people criticize me for liking the NWT? If I had said that about the NWT, people would have grilled me. :(
I think people should overly critical of any shock statment like the one blabbermouth made! -

It's got so many errors in it. It has this verse where someone "p'd against the wall!" I think it says it in Isaiah. It mentions all these weird animals like cocatrices and unicorns as well!

I like it, but don't think it's perfect. Saying it's perfect (when you read my above post) is an insult!
