DO said:
by googlemagoogle indo said, 20 years ago some 10% of raised young witnesses left "the truth".
i agreed.
50% too many that stay.

Then blamed the family "heads" for not having an effective family "study" and for not "inculcating" the "truth" into their spawn.
This excuse was used when a DO announced a meeting for brothers interested in attending the MT School. No one attended. It's always the family "Heads" fault.

Other Than D'Fing or Disassociating, How Did You Get JWs To Leave U Alone?
by minimus inhow do you keep them from bothering you?

The only ones I want to leave me alone is the Elders. At our last CO visit, the CO and an Elder came to my house for an "encouraging visit" I simply asked the CO questions about "who is our mediator? "Why did the society change the announcement for D/F and D/A persons? Was it because the society doesn't want the congregations to figure out that more are D/A themselves. Why? I mentioned the $700+ million that the society made (was donated to) last year. During his visit he spoke of simplifying our lives. I told him that we have to work hard to keep a home or to have health insurance. We could really simplify if we stopped feeding him and housing him and paying for his health insurance. He gets it all paid for. We do not. After several hours he left. Havn't heard from an elder since.

Elder not calling us "brother or sister" at the book study
by JH ina few months ago, i went to a couple of book studies, and i hadn't set foot there in years, but what stuck me was when the elder called people by their first names when he asked questions at the book study.. instead of saying brother rat, he just called me rat .
instead of saying brother smith, he just said gary, and so on..... .
either the elder was making it more friendly by using our first names in stead of saying brother or sister so and so, or it was a change in the way they operate.. .

When I am required to speak with the Elders in my Hall, I use their first name. So far no negative comments because of it. Some start out with Brother **** but the rest use my first name. They may consider me a brother but they're not brothers to me.

Whats the worst dish you ever served???
by Tez ini am a reasonable cook when i can be bothered (as paulj will hopefully confirm) but often resort to quick and easy methods, packet mixes, tins etc.. whereas my parner is a brilliant cook!!
leave him in the kitchen for a little while and he produces something from scratch that is delicious.
so today i decided to extend my culinary skills!

anything with liver
I love Beef Stroganoff (spelling?) Anyway I called my wife one evening enquiring about supper. She is with friends and they are making "Stroganoff". When I arrive and take my first bite (which by the way was my last) it didn't have beef in it. It was Liver. I didn't know there was anything worse than liver but now I know. Liver Stroganoff.

Would Your Life Change If You Were Suddenly Disfellowshipped?
by minimus inif it did happen, i would be more impacted because jws come to my business, too.
other than that, i think it would have very little effect-----and you????

I could sleep in on weekends guilt-free!
I do that now, but I'm not df'd...yet.
To answer the question though, my life would not change but df'ing could impact my son and future daughter-in-law to a lesser degree and probably to a larger degree with her parents.
Does that make sense?

HUGE QUESTION!
by stillAwitness ini been meaning to figure out the ansewr to this question for like 3 weeks now but been too afraid of course to ask anyone in the congreagtion since my questions tend to be more questionable than a simple inquiry.
anyways a young girl in my hall was announced as "no longer being one of jehovah's wittnesses."??
weird.

Since they only say ' no longer one of Jehovahs Witness" can you still go talk to them since they aren't Df'd. They are just, worldly and you can still talk to worldly you just shouldn't hang out with them. right?? They can't get on to you right? just for talking to a new worldly person?
Sorry, it doesn't work that way. The new JW Rule Book states regarding the announcement that "So-an-so is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses".
"This will alert faithful members of the congregation to stop associating with that person." "Such a person is treated in the same way as a disfellowshipped person."

Who Really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
They, for us, the way of truth pave.
High in the tower these men sit
Feeding us rules that don't seem to fit.
We try to do everything they say
Lest we should ever stumble from "The Way".
To question them is to question God
This allows them to rule with an iron rod.
Broken promises plague us day to day
Yet we listen to each word they say.
They tell us we live in a Spiritual Paradise
Our entire life is such a small price.
We give up our money and families too
To this slave we want to be true.
The Governing Body is surely elite
They expect us to bow at their feet.
Let's look at this with open eyes
Isn't it time we all get wise?
They don't have to work and are always fed
They're treated like princes it's been often said.
Travel, cars, insurance, they get it all
Give more money and time is a constant call.
We go to meetings and work all day
When we're out in service, where are they?
Pioneers and publishers are really "the slave"
To an organization we still want to save.
They speak for God or so they say
Presumptuousness certainly is their way.
The mystique that surrounds them is gone now
With much healing, Christain freedom we can now allow.
A Paradise Earth with them in the lead
What a frightening thought that is indeed.
Submitted for a friend. IBAT

I remember cringe-inducing notices read by elders from the platform instructing sisters who were preparing meals for the CO to "not over do it" and stick to plain nutritious meals, that Jehovah knew what was in their hearts so they did not need to try to impress the CO, etc..
Many years ago I and my wife were "encouraged" by the local BOE to host the CO and his wife for lunch. We had very little financial means but over-extended ourselves to to provide a nice meal for them. Somehow during the meal it was mentioned that we could only afford soup and a toasted-cheese sandwich (they receive much more), the CO's wife stated "Well, if we wanted toasted cheese sandwiches we could have made them ourselves." No humility there.
Never again.
