Yes they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. In stead of following the scriptural requirements for recommending/appointing/whatever a brother to a position of elder, the current BOE looks for individuals who will be a Company Man™. Ones who have their own ideas on how the congregation would work better with more joy, these ones are dismissed as having independant ideas.

Loss of Elders
by metatron inlarge numbers of jw congregations are going to be trouble long before they lose their last elder to death or resignation.. most congregations i know have at least one - and often several - elders who can barely function at all, due to illness, old age.
or just plain inability to accomplish anything.
the society seems loathe to remove these men, despite their 'elder in name only'.

Are they really just saving themselves?...
by Hecklerboy inwhen i was a teenager my best friends little brother (baby) died because he was refused a blood transfussion.
it really bothered me even though i thought they did the right thing.. now that i'm out i was talking to my wife about it and the whole blood thing and came to the realization that they did it just to save themselves.. think about it.
if you allow your child to have a blood transfusion, who is god going to blame?

The parents really are choosing not for the child, but for themselves.
So here is my question. What if? and please don't slam me for this. I don't believe it but. What if the blood policy is correct and the parents, in making that hard decision, show their loyalty to Jehovah. Knowing that He will resurrect the child. They are placing the best care for the child in God's hands. Are they not thinking about the childs best interest? This is all based on the blood policy being correct.
There is always a little bit if us (the parents) in every choice we make concerning our children. Is it selfishness that we let the doctors operate on the child? Yes. We don't want to lose that personal connection between ourselves and the future. We all know that we are going to die but having children allows us to know in our minds that there will be a future.
On the day when one of our grown children decided to move away, oh I wanted to be selfish. I helped him move knowing that it was best for him. And he has mentally grown since he moved. But I am selfish. I would have preferred he stay closer. I now think that selfishness is a relative term.

Well if you had just followed the elders counsel you wouldn't be in this situation. You wouldn't require any special single parent classes and such.
Sorry, just had to say it. It's what we would have heard from and of the friends™.

Witnesses can read this article in its separate parts, but not whole.
They fractionated this just for the Dubs.

Ongoing Saga; Privacy Commission, WTS and my attempt to get personal files
by jwfacts ini posted a while ago that i had asked the aust bethel for my personal records under the privacy act 1988. bethel refused.
i then lodged a complaint with the privacy commission.
bethel signed a stat dec that they are not covered by the privacy act, and so the case was closed.

They have then attempted to list Financial Records Standards in showing that there is a distinction between operating and non operating income.
Does that mean that they have profit and non-profit income?

Can you be disfellowshipped for eBaying?
by jwfacts ini have been busy on ebay the last couple of weeks, and am finding it really addictive.
i know a lot of jws that go crazy using ebay all the time.. i have worked out why ebay is so popular.
for buyers it combines the shopping addiction many have with the element of buying things on special.. selling on ebay is gambling.

I don't quite see the similarity between auctions/ebay and the disfellowshipping actions necessary™ because of gambling. While it is true that the seller is taking a chance at losing or making a profit, so is a (normal) business person. A business pays for space for the business maybe in a mall. Utilities, payroll and receiving of product are all costs associated with running the store. What you don't know is if anyone wants to buy your product today. It is a gamble. While back I went accross an intersection on a green light. Made it through without incident. Took care of some necessary business and was driving back. At that very same intersection, the light turns green, cars on the other street stopped. I continued on across the intersection and some kid decides to go through the intersection on red, through my car with his truck. Life is a gamble. We can look both ways and still get hit.
If you can share some scriptures that would help the local ecclesia in determining my ebay fate. I would appreciate it. Thanks
