Convention Report - Deliverance At Hand?
by daniel-p inso i just got back from the convention - yes, feel pity on me... i had to attend all three days, spend money on a crappy hotel, sleep in a crappy town, sit on my ass for 8 hours a day, and all just to hear about the same old crap you can read in any watchtower.
i didn't take notes because not only would my head have exploded from the sheer boredom and stupidity, but i would be responsible for all your heads exploding as well.
are there any highlights?

I'm sorry that this try didn't work. But don't stop trying. It sounds like this professional™ really wasn't. I personally believe that hypnotism can work. I've seen it work successfully in severe pain management. I see you as a partial success story. You did cut back dramatically. Did you have a "What's the use" feeling when you lit that first one up again? You'll make it and you will succeed. Don't stop trying.

No Trespassing!! Breaking news for local JW's.
by Mulan inthis week at the book study, at all congregations in the u.s., a letter was read saying if you go to a house or property with a "no trespassing" sign, you must not enter, or knock on the door.
you have to leave immediately.
a sign saying "no solicitors" is too ambiguous, and they are to use their own judgment, and don't have to knock.

Either Time or Newsweek magazine had a cover story in the late 90's. Maybe 1997. On the cover was a picture of a female. Scientists and computer artists compiled a picture taking traits from whites, blacks, and everyone else. The picture was quite appealing to look at.

My parents used the hypnosis method when they decided to quit. It's been over 35 years for them now. You really have to want to quit and for the first couple of months, stay away from 'smoking parties'

What are you doing Memorial Day weekend?
by juni inhopefully it will be a beautiful weekend.
we always get together with our entire family (kids and grandkids) for an all day picnic and fun and then watch the small town parades.
and then this weekend we will be playing "catch-up" with outdoor projects on the house that we couldn't get to because of the rain.

Hasn't killed it yet. Took my IP address from the web site that U/B suggested. Two locator sites located me some 15 to 30 miles away from my real location. I'm not worried. Bring it on WTS.

Are they really just saving themselves?...
by Hecklerboy inwhen i was a teenager my best friends little brother (baby) died because he was refused a blood transfussion.
it really bothered me even though i thought they did the right thing.. now that i'm out i was talking to my wife about it and the whole blood thing and came to the realization that they did it just to save themselves.. think about it.
if you allow your child to have a blood transfusion, who is god going to blame?

That has to be the most sickening feeling there is. Knowing that you let your child die for a cult.
That would drive me insane.
I know of a couple who lost their son in an automobile accident. He had been working all night long and was driving back home. The vehicle the young man was driving crossed the centerline and hit headon another vehicle. The passenger in the other vehicle survived. The driver did not. The parents did not ask to see the accident report. If the son had fallen asleep at the wheel, he would have been responsible (blood-guilty) for the death of the other driver. He also would have been responsible for his own death as he could have pulled over at any time.
The parents decision not to view the accident report, relieved them of the knowledge and so can, in their minds, believe that he will be given a resurrection. (False hope) The WTS has interpreted more scripture than anyone else. I have firm belief that Jehovah will look at the whole situation. Why go insane believing you will never see your son again based just on these false interpretations.
