The way they see it, your're going to be dead at Armageddon anyway. They might have to wait until you're officially dead to move into your house, but they can pick your pockets now. I wish I could be so lucky and have some JW relatives to put up for a weekend. What fun I would have with them.

i've got some questions about district conventions and circuit assemblies.
are j/w's required to attend them?
what if they can't afford to go?
I started going to assemblies in 1972. In those days they were still having them in outdoor stadiums for the most part. Almost every year we would hear of some heat related tragedy. One year at our assembly a 4 week old baby girl died from heat stroke- all because of the -"just had to make the assembly at all costs- can't miss out on the new light", mentality in those days. I feel very sad right now, wondering what might have been for that little girl , if her parents had just listened to their own good judgement and stayed home from the assembly that year. Of course , the recently minted JW's see nothing of the past 4 generations of wasted lives, broken homes and lies and deaths that can be attributed to following the WT's false teachings. Never let them forget, that is our job, our burden.

their slogan will be- "there's are some things money can't buy, for everything else there's watchtowercard" they could make millions on credit card fee kickbacks.
i just need a good logo for this new credit card-hmm- any ideas everyone?
You're right ,Think- why stop at credit cards. Branch into insurance for the brothers, too. Instead of the Geico gecko, what could they use that would appeal to the brothers?

...so said my dear 'ol mom after her and my dad made reservations for this year's district convention and realized that another hotel on the lodging list had a cheaper rate.
she figured that calling up the previous hotel to cancel was against the society's rules counsel listed in the km about making reservations.
so she spends the next 20 minutes looking all over the house for the km to make sure there are no rules against cancelling a reservation already made with a hotel since "we don't want to bring on reproach on jehovah's name.
Does the Society get a "cut" of the room rates from the Hotel? They find hotels that will give them a fee for getting 50-100 rooms booked by the brothers for the conventions. Makes sense to me.

this is a continuation of a discussion i've had with abaddon.
we were at loggerheads in the beginning but i'm coming round to his way of thinking to a certain extent.
i still haven't given up my belief in an intelligent creator but at the same time there is evidence for evolution which cannot be discounted.
I said: All people argue about is creation- why not the destructive process of extinction? If you believe that the creation of life and the evolving process are directed by a Creator, then is not G-d also responsible for the the natural events that have caused 95% of all prior living creatures to go extinct? You can't have one without the other.
I am still waiting for an intelligent design advocate to explain, if G-d is responsible for the extinction events which opened the way for new species to populate the Earth.
If G-d is responsible, then why go to all the trouble to design intermediate species, just to clear the slate and start over-again and again? Doesn't G-d know what he wants? It would be logical to assume then, that present Man is just another intermediate species-soon to be replaced by a different model as soon as the next extinction event has occurred- with the help of G-d,right?
If the answer is, No " He is not resonsible for the extinction events- it's all random chance" , then wouldn't that take G-d out of the design loop?
If G-d does not intervene to stop natural destructive events like, volcanism, ice ages, asteroid/comet impacts, super nova gamma ray bombardments, solar flares-, magnetic field reversals,climate change, plate movemenst, etc- all of which destroy life- then I believe it's not likely He influences the final results of a planet's life forms.
Based on past history ,couldn't mankind be just another intermediate species?

I am relaxing in my Lay-z-boy recliner, online with a laptop. Our dog , Sparky, is lying right next to me. He is a 12lb silky terrier- he looks like an overgrown Yorkie . We got him as a puppy for our 6 year old daughter a year ago. Since I am home 24/7 right now he has been my pal a lot. I even take him for visits to a nursing home. The residents love giving him a hug and getting a lick back from him.

a few months ago, a danish newspaper printed a set of cartoons about mohammad, the most important prophet of the moslem religion.
a few weeks ago, a small norwegian newspaper followed, and also printed the drawings.
moslems all over the moslem world are now rallying against both the newspapers and the danish and norwegian governments, which they hold responsible for this.
We have lots of Jewish comedians, but everyone seems to agree: Muslims have no sense of humor!

so on rare occasions i get the brilliant idea that online dating is worth a shot.
i'm in the psych program at school, 90% of which is female, and since i work and am in school almost all the time i tend to only rarely run into single guys my age.. so this guy invited me to his company's yearly party sat.
- he actually works for this huge online retailer, so lots of techy people and what not, good drinks, whatever.
I had this explained to me once- men and women marry to fulfill these basic needs:
love, sex, procreation/family, material security & companionship. If a couple needs all 5 , they will have a strong marriage- if it's a 2nd marriage and they already have kids, you're down to 4. If both have really good jobs/bank acct's, you're down to 3. At some point if you are single long enough sex goes out the window,too. Now you are left with love and companionship. Many men never need anything but sex and some companionship- they don't need to get married, yet. Good luck.
