I had the pleasure of his visit to my plant about 4 years ago. He told us what a great job we were doing- cost, quality and output was great. A year later 'Ol Dieter and his hatchet man CFO , Wolfgang Bernhard announced that the Company was closing our plant and shipping our work to Brazil and Germany. Take a good look at this picture- do these Germans look like they could screw you or not? Having a Company paid sabbatical is great, so I'm not complaining too loudly about sitting home. Guess what- a year after they closed us the engine blocks they outsourced are costing Chrysler 2x more than Chrysler Foundry was making them for. So much for Wolfgang's 100 million a year predicted cost savings from outsourcing our product.

Rejecting God or rejecting religion?
by kojo ini have read many posts on here and on other websites from people who were brought up or became immersed in a particular religion or belief system, who later ,often because of bad experiences with their religion, went to the opposite extreme of not believing in god at all.
this often puzzles me because i wonder if people who reject a belief in god because of the hypocrisies they experienced in their former belief really are rejecting god or just a man-made organization which claims to be god's spokesman and has shown to be anything but.. i was raised in a presbyterian church which is about as traditional and conservative as you can get and my image of god was molded by that belief.
i saw the services and people there as dead basically.

I realize He is still in control and very much real and alive for those who wish to know Him.
In control of what?- Where was God when a tsunami killed 250,000 innocent people on the Indian Ocean on December 26th a few years ago?
Has God intervened to change the course of any disaster , war, plague, ice age, asteroid collision, magnetic pole reversal, etc? Was God alive for our hunter gatherer ancestors? How about Neanderthal man? Was God alive for men in the past? - 6000 years ago, 20,000, 100,000? We live on a planet that is probably one of a kind for a million light years in any direction and yet, in a million years or less humans , if they are still alive as a species will probably fall back to an earlier primative time to survive the changes in earths climate and the effects of numerous natural extinction events and global wars.
In any event, the Sun will grow hotter and hotter and eventually burn all the water and atmosphere off this planet killing every living thing. God will not intervene to stop any extinction event- if he had intervened to stop the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs, then we wouldn't be here today as a species- the top predator of this planet. God can't and won't stop these catastrophes. Which brings us to this conclusion. Jesus, if he was the Son Of God, wouldn't promise something that God can't deliver- protection from harm and death in the natural course of life- a disaster is waiting for any one of us- hurricane, tornado, killer virus, accidents, etc. Jesus promised to come back and save mankind- but that is not how God works. Everyone else can have comfort in their own personal belief as long as it does no harm to another person. (sorry JWs). Religion by my defintion, is a belief system to explain the unexplainable. Nothing more. Man can hope for a life after death, but if our hunter gatherers and neanderthal ancestors have not crossed over , then it is unlikely that heaven awaits us,either. I doubt this post agrees with many and that's OK, by me. I am not out to convert anyone.

by sammielee24 injust an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.
you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.
it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

I believe that Hawaii has a State health insurance plan that covers everyone, but then it's a long swim from the Mexican border to Hawaii. Not having to deal with millions of illegal immigrants swamping public hospitals allows Hawaii to make a Statewide healthcare plan work.

How do the elders deal with a very poor brother or sister?
by JH inlets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.
what do the elders do?
a) tell them that the organization is not a place to beg but to preach, to give and not to receive.

We lost our home to a fire in 1982. What help did we get from the KH?- none. A relative let us stay in their house while they were wintering in Texas and local churches donated clothes , toys, etc. We would come back to the house from a KH meeting and find donated stuff inside the porch. I asked my wife why were the churches were showing unselfish love and at the KH did nothing to help us get back on our feet. I think in my subconscious, I knew it wasn't God's organization.

thinkin of goin back
by searching4truth ini was df bout a year back and have since been enlightened by a life long friend.
i am leaning toward returning anyway but mostly for familyand friends.
i recognize the hypocrisy of this move but also don't feel that i should be subject to there authority and in my current state i am.

If you go back and later leave on your own terms, then most likely you will be called an apostate by the Elders. Don't expect to have any conversations with your family when that happens. I would leave things as they are.

Back in 1989 I handbilled an entire community - The local JW's took my wife's side in our marital dispute ( I had quit JW''s a year prior) The local Elders helped hide my kids and wife for 10days from me. I handbilled the community asking for their help in locating my kids who were being hidden with the help of the Elders at the local KH. Of course next week when they tried to do the door-to door work people just shoved that handbill at them and asked if it they were hiding my kids. Talk about a community reaction. The JW's had to have know I was looking for my kids- That prior Sunday I stood across the street with a bullhorn and asked every JW entering the KH if they were hiding my kids. Lots of red faces- no answers. The elders were afraid to call the police on me, too. So yes, I did make them look bad in the eyes of the community. Most people when done wrong by the KH and the Elders just keep quiet and take it. Bad public PR is a powerful weapon and they know it.

How many here have left the org because of this board?
by mrsjones5 ini ask this question because saki said this in another topic:and i would assume that a lot of people on this board left due to this board alone "proving" the lies of the wts.
so, it this true or false?
or is this mostly true or mostly false?

Todays JW's have it easy. Back in the 80's when I left you had to be sneaky to get info- rent a PO box in another city, go to libraries in other cities to avoid being recognized, etc.. I used to have a JW helpline- my ph# had the last four numbers of 1975. I never helped anyone get out that I know of . It was a JW-nagline more than anything.

Ever wonder if an old friend turned apostate?
by beautifulisfree ini often wonder if my old witness friends from my past are still in the 'truth' (god i hope not)?
i know this site is pretty popular amongst ex-witnesses.
and since most of us have 'fake names'...we could be talking to someone that we already know.

I knew a few JW's who were considered weak when I left in 1988. I suspect that half of them have faded out of the Org. (my ex-wife included) They weren't too weak to remember to shun me though, at the time. I doubt any JW's from the Lutz,Fl , Danville , Watseca, Georgetown or Rossville,Illinois Congs. are posters here. But if so, Howdy.

Why does god allow suffering?
by GBSJG ini always had trouble with answering that question.
if there is a god why is there so much suffering?
so i looked up the offical explanation of the wts in the bible teach book chapter 11 paragraph 12 says: let us consider an illustration.

Stop worrying about the small stuff. God has his hands full trying to stop an asteroid collision. Unfortunately, the last time ,big bad T-Rex and his kin paid the price for not doing what God wanted. Let that be a lesson to the Human Race.

JW says Jehovah's People aren't Brainwashed
by Honesty inwell from what i understand a cult is something that expects you to follow some man.
you must give up your individual thought processes and just go with what you are told to think.
this way you are released from individual responsibility.
-
moshe
There are many degrees of brainwashing. Getting out of the JW system of thought control does not give you freedom, if you still depend on others to do your thinking. Many former JW's have switched to a Christian church or some quasi Jesus faith without any real research- it just feels good to them. Each person has to be responsible for his own actions, if there is ever a judgement day before a supreme God. But, personally, I have had no direct contact from God and have no more direct knowledge of who God is, than a hunter gather knew 10,000 years ago.We know what God isn't today, but are no closer to who he is. Religion is for the most part beneficial to society and Governments in the prevention of anarchy and the protection of rich peoples estates from the poor.
peace,
Moshe
