later, after the flood waters recede, god promises never to do it again because man's heart is evil.
Hasn't modern history recorded human moral crimes on a scale that dwarfs the crimes of ancient men? Why has G-d failed to intervene in modern times? Did he really do so in the past? Where was G-d when millions of Jews were being eterminated in WWII ?

The knowledge of good and evil is what separates us from the animals. Some modern Jewish thought on the garden of Eden -it's actually a story of when pre-humans crossed the mental void from animal instinct to modern man- with a moral conscience , self awareness, fear, greed and knowledge of death. In many ways the life of an animal is uncomplicated . Are we better off as a modern homo sapiens? G-d warned there would be painful consequences.

by "aliens" let's assume beings capable of making moral choices, having intellect, emotion, and a will (angels, who are extra-terrestrials, also fit into this category, but this answer will deal with three-dimensional, physical beings).

College has become a money drain on the youth today. Fifty years ago businesses provided the main training for it's employees and because of that they had a vested interest in retaining it's workers. It makes more sense to hire a newly minted college graduate, use his skills for 5-10 years and then replace them with a new college graduate . While corporations have modernized and lowered prices, colleges have not been able (wanted) to reduce the cost of their product. The need to keep tenured professors paid has kept universities from endorsing alternative education schemes,ie. - internet classes for starters, unless they can still obtain full prices for the courses. The $50,000 cost of college for your kids might be better spent on a good business or starter retirement trust fund.

When I looked in a mirror and saw this on my arse-
i will say that the "evidence" for a drastic change in mankinds history (end of the world, the great day of god the almighty, what ever you want to call it) seems likely when doing a survey of where mankind is a the current point in time.
nuclear weapons, wars, technology, globalization, and ecological destruction all seem to point towards a place that mankind has never been before.
mankind is unquestionably in a position differant from any point in human history.
The drastic "End" to human civilization as we know it will happen. How? Famine, pandemic disease, depletion of resources, terrorist attack (dirty-radioactive/biological bomb), drastic climate shift- start of next ice age, direct hit by comet/asteroid= life extinction event,polar magnetic field reversal=no protection from gamma/solar UV radiation for 200 yrs, super volcano erupts(Yellowstone USA, others), for starters. All of these are natural events that have a high probability of occuring in the next 1- 1000 years. Any of these events could mean the end of global civilized life as we know it.
this is a continuation of a discussion i've had with abaddon.
we were at loggerheads in the beginning but i'm coming round to his way of thinking to a certain extent.
i still haven't given up my belief in an intelligent creator but at the same time there is evidence for evolution which cannot be discounted.
All people argue about is creation- why not the destructive process of extinction? If you believe that the creation of life and the evolving process are directed by a Creator, then is not G-d also responsible for the the natural events that have caused 95% of all prior living creatures to go extinct? You can't have one without the other. It is almost a forgone conclusion that some future event will wipe out the human species- who will become the top predator after we go extinct? Now you have to wonder what is G-d's purpose in creating a myriad different species and life types, just to replace them with new designs - over and over again? What was wrong with the Neanderthals? They didn't destroy the ecosytem as modern humans have. I am sure primitive worship was just as valuable to G-d as our worship today. Why would G-d favor one erect ape creature over another? Maybe, it is all just random chance after all. The implications are too scary for religionists.

hey everybody.
sorry for not getting these up sooner.
here are the notes for the second day of the assembly program.
My wife and I put our six year old daughter to bed at at 8pm- no exceptions during the week. When my two grown children were that age 20 years ago they were being dragged to the KH on tuesdays and thursday nights. Sometimes these gradeschool age children did not get to bed until after 10pm beause of those KH meetings. For an organization that is supposed to value familes it's no wonder their children have problems. All this constant study of WT literature is just a bunch of kaka and keeps the JW from admitting to himself the real truth-"I am not happy" & " I want to leave".

If you use paypal , be aware that some have been victimized by it. Do a google search to see how to protect yourself. I both sell and buy. I really like my paypal credit-debit card. I can easily spend the money from my Ebay sales.

i hated service, hated getting up early, hated wearing dresses/skirts,hated bugging people early on the weekend, hated "preparing" for service (all i did was read the little blurb on the inside of the awake lol) hated being grouped with elder ihatecoffeebreaks and sister letsdoonemoredooreventhoughits12.......one day brother ihatecoffeebreaks asked me why my time was dropping in service and i said "because i hate service" ( i mean i was taught to be honest right?
I really hoped that nobody was home. I always tried to talk my partner to split up and do opposite sides of the street so I could just fake knocking on the doors. I was pretty lucky - I only had a couple short Bible studies. My best candidate for the JW club ended up getting arrested and put in prison. He saved himself from a life of real oppression!
