I thought the King of the North was going to Battle the King of the South and the Untited Nations was going to do something, like, ah- damn I forgot. Gotta be prepared for Armageddon- the slave class knows all about this stuff I've been told.

by Mary inmy elderly dub aunt (who's the biggest whiner the world has ever seen) came over tonight to first of all, whine about how her neighbour shuts her kitchen cupboard doors in the most annoying way possible and her dog barks and what was she supposed to do about it?
anyway, as soon as these monumental problems were solved, she informed me that at the bookstudy the other night, the conductor told everyone to "stay after the prayer" as he had 'something important to announce.
" naturally everyone did this, all the while wondering if the red phone at patterson was in direct contact with jehovah himself as the study was being conducted.

Perhaps, some of these appointed GB underlings have started to revolt against their taskmasters. A purge of the house of Jehoovah is going to be needed I fear, to get rid of all the independent minded ones- or electroshock therapy- your choice.

Same old WT stuff- set up a strawman arguement and then knock it down with their weak scholarship. If Jehoovah is such a grand creator, then why are 90% of all the creatures that ever existed extinct? How many species must God create to find the perfect model? They never mention this, do they? Fact is that we only exist because of a previous total extinction event wiped out most land based animal life- a meteor impact perhaps. Whatever it was, big mean T-Rex and his cousins were incinerated and man eventually has taken over as top predator in the last 50,000 years or so. In all likelyhood at some date in the future man will meet his total extinction event and be replaced by a different creature from Jehoovah's grand creation. Maybe next time, an insectoid race will do a better job with planet Earth.

Is questioning at the bookstudy still allowed?
by yaddayadda ini remember when i was a kid it wasn't unusual for someone to ask a question of the conductor during the bookstudy.
not that often but occasionally.
in my most recent years as a dub i can't recall anyone ever asking any questions.

I found our adopted daughter's grandmother in Ekaterinburg, Russia using the internet. All I had to go on was her birthmother's death certificate. The family had no telephone either. Finding this family should be easy for you. Try looking them up on one of the High School websites- like Classmates.com or Reunion.

'Time', not a constant in the Universe!
by Outaservice inwhen i was a good ole jw, going out in service, counting my 'time', i noticed something strange.. i could drive to one side of the county, make a back-call, and then drive clear through town as slow as i could and then out of town to the other side of the county to make another back-call.
the total time it took to do this was about 6 minutes.. if i was not out in service and was trying to rush, say to a movie, it took at least 45 minutes to get through town alone!
what causes this phenomenon?.

Time does go slow in field service- everyone makes a call to start the clock- then we did the return visits and we hoped somebody got into a long conversation or better yet invited inside while the rest of of sat in the car. With luck you got your two hours in and never actually talked to anyone- placements were mags left at a not-at-home. What a waste of a Saturday morning.

i had high speed cable internet for $53 a month with videotron and i just dropped it to their lowest cable speed for $29 a month.. now i can buy an extra case of beer a month .

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

My family weren't JW's they were farmers. I don't have the memories of summer fun, little league ball, fishing, camping, etc. that most kids had. I do remember lot's of farm work. Today, I guess it's not kosher to use your kids for manual labor. Even today as an adult I find it hard to relax or have a pass time like golf. I guess that's an oxymoron- most people I know who play golf are fustrated!

Am I the only one who does not remember the name of any CO or DO? I was a JW for about 16 years and Elder and MS- but I honestly don't remember the names of any of those guys- guess I have totally moved on. Apparently, none of them made any impression on me.
