Shunning....done with a spirit of love or with a spirit of hate???

i went to take my daughter to school today and right at the end of her line was a jw with her child.

seeing as i had to take my child to her line, i had to stand very close to her.

i seen her out of the corner of my eye looking at me.

They are doing it out of fear of you and your family. Remember, rank and file are not told what you da'd for. For all they know you are an ax murderer.

It was not until I was out of the cult and made contact with other df'd people and started finding out what they were df'd for that I found out that my fears were unfounded. Here are some of the reasons I found;

caught with a joint

caught looking at an anti jw site

caught going to the police to report an abusive mate

re-married without the blessings of the elders

routinly broke cerfew (15 year old)

wore a dress that was too short and then told the elders to shove it when they complained (16 yr old)

allowed daughter to have a blood transfusion to save her life

questioned the doctrine of the 1975 fiasco

could not give up the tobacco

would not shun a child

etc., etc., etc.,

I always thought they were evil people and deserved to be taught a lesson, now I know better. I wish you could just say f*** you to those losers and walk away for good, but wish you well in whatever you decide to do. Feel really bad for your little one... (((hugs)))

INCUBUS

i have been dealing with one for the past few years.

not constantly, but about once every three months.

for those that don't know, an incubus is a demonic presence that only bothers women when they sleep.

It hasn't happened since I left the JWs.

ditto here....

I figure that it is because they flood you with so much fear of demons that you suffer in silence rather than get the medical attention that you really need.

Injustice of the elders

i am so angry tonight.

there is an elder and his wife who have upset so many with cruel/biting comments.

one family of 14 moved away because of them.

This same elder /his family told my wife that it was better for his 5 yr old not to associate too much with my 5 yr old because my 5 yr old is disabled and too much association could hinder his childs development...he even told his kid not to play with mine in school. His family also informed my little girl that she had a heart problem....

What an a**hole. what possible reason could someone have for doing this other than being outright sadistic and of lesser than average intelligence. Maybe you should have your family avoid him and state that you are conserned with associating with his family due to the established medical fact that stupidity is contageous...

<Sorry, doing this to the child is what really set me off this morning...>

Having an affair acceptable in your religion?

this woman, clarise, who lives in hayward, california is a strong beliver of jehovahs witness.

because she needs to go door to door to spread words of your religion, she only works 3 days a week.

that is fine.

This is a frustrating post for me.

I had a little trouble with this one too, Peggy. Then I realized that I was reacting to the wrong thing; this isn't about religion, it's about a woman stalking another woman's husband.

If this was me, I'd be in that womans face so fast it'd make her head spin. Don't think she'd be getting up too fast either.

How I felt I lived my life

to the lowest common denominator; if there was even one ignorant soul who believed long hair or an earring on a man meant they were homosexual, or a beard made one a "filthy commie" like fidel castro, we had to groom ourselves to impress that slack-jawed yokel.

i actually heard these reasons come out of an elder's mouth even though we were in an area that was pretty progressive for the 70's, college town and all.

glad to be living my life for me, duffy of the "gettin' my next piercing and first tattoo in two weeks" class

Yeah, they are pretty controlling lot. Some of the older literature pictures adam in a crew cut! hahaha

If it's any consolation, duffy, I love the look of long hair on men. You should see my hubby's; below his shoulders and blonde to boot! Yummm

We both have out tattoos picked out and are just saving the money to have them done.

How I broke away

Thank you for sharing. I completely understand what you were going through. It was when I began to dig deeper that my faith in the organization crumbled too. They keep you soo focused on their material, that most don't find or make the time to do their own research, so they believe what they are told. I started to research deeper after I was baptized, and married because I wanted to put away doubts.

You know what I found though.

Congratulations on 'making sure of all things' The truth does make you free.

Did you do K P at a Summer Convention??

remember when we had those large conventions and you volunteered for k p work.

i can't remember how many bushels of potatoes and onions i peeled over the years.

it was alot of fun when we had a group doing it and all the while missing out on all the spiritual food.

One of the few really good memories as a witness was doing this at the assemblies. I loved it and was kind of sad when they quit preparing hot food and went instead to chicken sandwiches, hoagies, and danish... Still think of this sometimes as I peel the spuds for my families dinner.

Who here went to Pioneer School?

Somewhere in all that I met a young pioneer stud who, after two years and countless episodes of throwing up the food he bought me, married me and took me away from all that. And we are still living happily ever after, especially since we're no longer pioneers.

Ah-Ha! It happened in Pioneer school too!

So glad you found happiness.

How did you feel about "apostates" when you were a devout JW?

when i was a devout jw i would literally look at "apostates" picketing the assemblies and want to spit at them because i hated them that much and felt that they were of satan.

i remember one time i saw an "apostate" walking from the assembly and a friend of mine an myself were actually talking about confronting him and telling him off.

i just cannot believe how much i hated "apostates" when i was a jw.

Felt fear and hatred for outsiders when a jw. Only learned the meaning of loving my fellowman after leaving the witnesses and studying the bible on my own. They make me mad in their blindness and lack of empathy for others, but I feel sorry for them and do not hate them in general.
