it's january 27, and we already have more snow than we get in a season, and traditionally march is our heaviest month for snowfall.

i just had an interesting experience today.
i ran into an old ex-friend that had just been released from prison.
he was sentenced for selling pot to the highschool girls he coached for soccer and for sleeping with underage girls.
own parent will talk with this man and accept him, but shun their own daughter.
No mother should abandon their child, it is obscene. Your parents have been brainwashed into a twisted way of reasoning and a false reality.
Sorry you are going through this.

just want to share in case you haven't seen this movie yet !.
got my son home since yesterday night and he brought the movie.
who is actually a pertinent political funy movie (as only britishs can come up with) .
Life of Brian was really funny. My favorite scene was when the clerk was dividing the people in line at the Great Coliseum into death and life groups and taking each person's word for which group they had been assigned.
Funny.

... in california that wanted to commit suicide by getting his vehicle in the way of an on-coming train?
the coward/idiot/nut/moron, changed his mind when he saw the train coming towards him and jumped out of the vehicle.
as a result, several people lost their life and about 100 or so were seriously injured.. what a coward!!!!!!!!!!
I too was appalled when I read this. The individual apparently went off his nut for a bit, and did something really, really stupid and he?s probably in shock over what he did.
People in that state of mind are temporarily insane and I would not be at all surprised if he gets off on that ground and goes into a mental ward for a couple years and is released.
I also would not be surprised to find that he actually wanted to hurt people and it was never a real suicide attempt and he made it up to try to cover his ass.
My heart goes out to everyone injured/killed and their families. Whether or not he meant to do any harm, his actions were abominable.

this is dave, stealing one of gina's topics.. please send your positive thoughts to gina, one of her birds died today.
she has several birds, a yellow-nape amazon (big parrot), an african gray (snuggle bird), a starling (saved as a fledgling), two cockatiels (think largish yellow parakeets), and two doves.
cheeko was a green-cheek amazon, a smallish parrot.
Sorry for your loss, Gina. (((Gina)))

some big fat liar made sumthin up again!
looky here what i went and found in the bible!
remember that little dove that desended down on jesus right after he was baptised by john?
So, when two Bible writers tell contradictory stories, it means that it must really have happened.
I'll have to remember that one for the next time my son tells me one thing and the teacher says something different. Only question I have is which one to pick as closer to the truth, or do I just pick something in the middle?
If the later is the case then the baptism should read as follows:
"Jesus got up from being baptized, and had a latte and croissant before leisurely walking off to the wilderness. Oh, and the pigeon got the leftovers from the croissant."

They've been grasping at straws and cookin' the books for years; what'cha surprised 'bout? lol I'd be cheesed off if they were pestering my students too, though.

who said god had to be nice to anyone?
i was just reading gumby's thread on 'a big old lie' he'd found in the bible.. as far as i got reading, folks were discussing jehovah killing everyone most of the time and i suppose threatening to do again in the future, according to the wtbts.
but why do we expect god to be nice to people?
Sorry, I'm a little late coming into this. To answer your first question though, I don't expect the God of the Old Testament to be nice at all. From what I read, he has a penchant for slaughter over the slightest transgression, and even if the transgression was meant to serve him. Example: 2 Samuel 6:6-7 Jean
i have found that while i can remember my childhood from ages 3-5, i can't remember much after that until i was 17 or so.
my mom came into the jws when i was 3, and i remember celebrating our last christmas.
it was a small christmas tree on the end table and it had a present for each of us (2 kids).
Hi, CG.
For me, it was not a matter of being able to remember my childhood, but more one of looking at my experiences through a new filter.
For example, until recently, I thought my parents were right for allowing my 3rd grade teacher to call me communist and other things which were hurtful and then stick me in a cardboard box for the entire first period for weeks on end because I would not salute the flag.
I was upset at the time, but learned to bury those feelings since the congregation seemed to back my parents inaction, and I came to believe that I was not being loyal to Jehovah for feeling that those things should not have happened to me.
Now, I look back and remember those things and am occasionally enraged by what my parents allowed in the name of the Witnesses. For me, it is a matter of a new perspective, and having to re-work my way through things on an emotional level. It can really hurt at times, especially when I cannot ask them questions since my disfellowshipping 11 years ago.
Do you experience these same feelings?
Jean
