  Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?

  lately, it seems to be that people are on edge and are forgetting common courtesy in their posts.

  people have told me that they were thinking of un-subscribing or at least taking a long break from the board due to people who take their negative opinion of the subject or opinion being discussed, and turn it into a personal attack.. what is happening here?

  any idea why this sudden spike in overbearing rude people posting here?

  Actually I was one who did mention that there seemed to be a great deal more negativity lately but not for the petty reasons I see you guys lobbing fireballs at each other.

  The "More drama" in the previously referenced post could have been viewed in several different ways, I didn't view it in the context implied here, but more along the lines of there is always something going on...which there is. But I digress, that's not my place to read too much into someone elses post.

  When I said it, I was referring to the fact that there have been a great deal more people that seem to be here to argue and incite agressive responses than are here to help or share experiences, or even have a little civilized, intellectually stimulating discussion. It is not my place to say they should or should not be allowed to do so. But I did definately state that I thought I may take a little break from the forum due to MY opinions of it's influence on ME.

  apostate literature - i have read the lot.

  you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.

  and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.

  But I am still not a convinced apostate. I still think Jehovah's Witnesses might have the truth - is there something wrong with me?

  Something just struck me. If you really have been reading all of these posts, including my own, how do you come to the conclusion that JW's have the truth? Does that mean that every single post you have read can be deconstructed, finding a point where some of these people have brought their issues upon themselves?

  The point is not to earn a label of apostate. It is to learn whether you were told everything. If Jehovah's Witnesses have The Truth under patent, why don't all the pieces fit? How can there be tens of thousands of people who can ask questions the Faithful and Discreet Slave cannot answer? If they can answer it, how can they refuse to answer any question with the response "that's an apostate question"? How can any question in and of itself be apostate?

  Who was the Faithful and Discreet Slave before the late 1800's? Ask them that one.

  Of course there is much more to the story than even that, I'm starting to feel funny backing up my arguements with Biblical information for my own reasons, but hey, if that's going to be the rulebook, I'll go by it for the sake of arguement. How true can something be if you can stump it with it's own rulebook?

  Thinking back

  my bookstudy was at an elders house that lived a bit out of the city.

  a small road with only his house and another.

  the other house was the first you passed.....unsightly....trashed cars.......broken down bicycles............not trashy, but not like the bit of paradise at the elder house.. i remember the elder telling us how the man had become ill and lost his job working for the waterworks department, a city job, with little wages.

  They lived there quit some time without electricity. It was getting to be colder weather and I remember inquiring if they got power. I can't remember now ----the reply. but I remember seeing plastic over the windows.

  But for the life of me...........how did all us witnesses pass by there week after week knowing they were without power and not take up a collection to help them?

  The people that did this to our family, probably saved my life. Just one more thing that helped me make up my mind.

  Perception is reality. By my perception, "the truth" is nothing I want to be a part of, period. If your perception is different...that is all you have to go on.

  Problem remembering my childhood

  i have a big problem remembering my childhood.

  it gets quite frustrating sometimes.

  every so often i get a flashback to a memory but only by triggers, usually smell.

  I actually posted about this back when I first came online. I had a lot of gaps, and I can only assume they were side effects from the brainwashing process from my father i.e. I couldn't have REALLY seen what I thought I saw could I?

  I have found the more I find out about my past and ask about specific memories, the more gaps are starting to fill in. I would suggest (NOTE I AM NOT A DOCTOR) getting with any people you can talk to about your past and start asking questions about specific memories. Something as simple as remembering a face or a group of words, or even a smell like you said can open a lot of doors, sometimes all at once.

  I would advise you do be careful and make sure you are somewhere (physically) you feel safe when going down these roads...can be very unnerving when the memories come rushing back.

  Do kingdom halls tend to have few windows? If so why?

  i was looking at some pics of khs and i remembered something i'd noticed while dusting my feet off outside a jw hall - very few windows.

  is that a policy or was i just at the back of the building...?

  i went down to the local 7/11 a few miles from my house to by some 7/11 stuff.

  as i was standing at the counter i glanced out at my car to see a little cheerleader wannabe girl leaning against it.

  she was drinking a slushy type drink talking to her bubble gum little chicky buddies in her mom's new lincoln navigator next to my car.

  You can have a combination of brains and beauty you know.

  The whole problem is when someone thinks they have so much of the beauty part they forget to work on the brains part. I have to agree with Dave's statement about people whose looks define who they are, they make a choice somewhere in their lives that they need nothing more.

  Then you have the Xenas who are the exceptions...

  they're the ones saying they've been appointed by god based on what they were doing back around 1914-1919.

  The past always matters, you have to know where you were to judge your progress in anything, the WTS is no different. From examining it we clearly see a pattern of mistakes and false predictions, as well as a lack of accountability. They do not even acknowledge their mistakes.

  There is no such thing as "NEW LIGHT".
