  GET INTOUCH WITH YOUR FAMILY DAY

  there has been a number of discussions lately about not just accepting being shunned by family so i was thinking why not set aside a yearly day to get in touch with family...send a card,text,email to parents and siblings etc not saying anything controversial...just being nice..saying we miss them we love them and anytime they want to meet or write or visit they would be more than welcome..it other words dont treat them like they treat you..do you think that it is a good idea...if so reply here but also spread the word.....if this has been suggested before please excuse me...im new to the world.

  lets make it 10th of may every year...dont think there are any other holidays on that date

  tijkimo i think you're on to something there...although it'll have to wait for next year for me, they just got my "sort of" DA letter...was a couple of years in the making.

  perhaps this too defies your intention, but if we are going to make it a universally standard ex-WT observance why don't we make some sort of a statement by having some sort of universal format, and get as many in on it as possible. Not using it as a way to further vent hurt, but as a way to extend that idea of unconditional love...perhaps I'm thinking too big here? either way I'd be happy to hear what you summise the feedback to be:-)

  this won't measure anywhere near upside/down's post!! when I was a 16 a late 20's MS came on strong to me for months despite my polite refusals, he eventually cornored me and pulled some very intimate moves on me...but he got to the elders first and pinned it on me, I'd been baptised for just a couple of months and somehow?? found my way on to "restrictions". The whole humiliating incident was relayed to my father, and cause I'd got myself into some mildly amusing trouble before it was assumed to be true...I gave up pretty easily though just happy that I was rid of the sleezy jerk.

  Question for those who used to be "anointed"

  i was a pretty zealous witness back in my day.

  i went out after every privilege i could get my hands on.

  however i never once thought that i was of the "anointed.

  sorry zz was never one of the annointed myself, but as a kid I did attempt a bite at the unleavened bread! This is a question I'm sure we will all be curious to hear the answers too. The member of the "annointed" I was closest to was a friend of my fathers, when I was a kid I thought his calling might have been genetic, his parents and grandfather were all of the same calling you see?!...then I thought perhaps it was cause he wished to escape his 6 young kids leaving his poor young wife behind to deal with em! Honestly though, I was always astonished about the way those two kept reproducing like they had forever ahead of them or something, I always wondered how that poor woman felt expecting that ultimately she would be abandoned by him, what about the kids how must they have felt?? Pretty screwed up family situation really. Oh and another member of the "annointed" we were close to as a family had recently been dis'd for adultery...so it seems there might now be a position vacant, get your Resume's up to date peoples!! v

  ARE YOU STRANGE TOO ???

  i knew i was a little odd, when i noticed it was only me who seemed to read magazines, starting at the back and working my way to the front.. but the other day, i realized when on this forum, that i always start at the bottom of the page of topics and work my way up to the top!!!!!!!!!.

  i know strange but true.

  have any of you got a strange foilble?.

  ...do you mean like "watching the world" and those encouraging mini biogs from long-term loyal gillead members!...do they still even have those bits? Has been a little while since I picked up a WT or Awake!, let alone got to the back of it!

  as for quirks, too many to name here...but one that comes to mind is not walking on the cracks (not a supersticious thing, more a neurotic kinda thing) in the pavement, and only taking one step if possible into each square, that is unless it's a physical impossibility!

  Making contact with family

  some of you may know that my parents and whole family do not have any contact with me, apart from my dad who has provided his mobile number for "family business/emergencies".

  i never try to contact them anymore after a negative experience after being beaten up trying to break up a streetfight last november when i called my dad and he hung up as soon as he realised it was me crying on the other end.. .

  anyway - i decided that just because they want to forget about me i don't have to be the same anymore and i wanted them to know how happy i was.

  Wow crummpet, you sound very much like my cousin and her family. She's still really suffering with the harsh way her family had dealt with her after being dis'd. She often falls into the trap of running to them for support when life gets hard, which it often does, and is a perfectly natural reaction for a person. Both our parents are more or less waiting for us to crash and burn so they can say 'I told you so'. I get the feeling that with my cousin that in her feeling this need to save face with her family that she isn't really dealing with her pain, and is merely covering it over to give her family the appearance that she has moved on, when she clearly hasn't. They of course believe that her unhappiness is directly related to her leaving the org, not the real reason of having been abandoned by the people she loves. Your fam should be there for you in good times and bad, so it's good, even if only instigated by you, that they get a sense of the good times as well.

  oh yes DB, the classic "local needs" talk...

  excellent angle OFC. Even if it doesn't make it under wiper blades, on to fuel bowsers, or get openened at the other end, it has certainly had a profound effect here...our eyes are opened

  i am going to the library in a day or two to pick up the book "crisis of conscience" they got in for me because i have read everyones opinions on the book....... i am not sure what to expect when i read it.......

  Haven't read 'Crisis of Conscience' although sometime ago I read an overview of it, perhaps I will. As mentioned to OrangeFatCat (in a message sent direct to him), I suppose I hadn't really given enough thought to the fact that now that I no longer believe the WTB&TS are set in their place by God, that this in turn means that I believe the members of the Governing Body are infact self-appointed, and as such have greater culpability for the directions of the org as a whole. I tended to think of them as misguided individuals, but when you're at the top is there really anyone leading you astray?

  True Fatcat about the Governing Body having a greater responsibility, but are they really any different from anyone else in the faith professing to have the truth by teaching others at whatever level they find themselves? elder, ms, pioneer, publisher...when you see them as individuals as we once were it is difficult to place such heavy blame, when you see them collectively it is a different matter, so who is in fact responsible for structure of the org, how far back do we go to figure that out? perhaps we could blame god himself, if he in fact even exists, for allowing such a false misrepresentation of truth?
