Heya insomniac...if you haven't seen episode 3 and you want to hold on to your Darth Vader fantacies, then you'd probably better not. Not so sexy anymore when you realise what's actually left of poor ol' Darth that goes into that suit!

Earthquake statistics?
by ringo5 inhas there ever been any so-called evidence brought forth by the wtbs that there has been an increase in earthquakes since 1914??
.
inquiring minds would like to know..

With greater population densities, better media coverage, and better equipment for detecting and recording earthquakes, it seems likely that yes, we will hear of more earthquakes in these 'last days'. More reports of earthquakes doesn't necessarily mean more earthquakes.
Jeffro, you got in before me and made my point (although I'd likely have said in 4 lines what you've said in 2;).
Prior to urbanisation we were all living in relatively spatial agrarian societies, boundary less regions where the effects of intense earthquakes would have had less of an impact. And of course technological advances, which allow seismologists to report on even the slightest tremors, does give the appearance of more earthquakes. But the essence is that the scripture says there would be more 'reports' of wars, and earthquakes, doesn't suggest either would be more prolific (although clearly wars have become more intense and extensive). We live in an information age of transnational media corps who have the means to deliver instantaneous reporting. frog

These are all great, thanks for sharing guys:) We all felt the same way didn't we, if only I'd have known that back then, so I didn't have to make myself feel guilt for being generally disinterested and apathetic to it all. The last meeting I went to when I was fading was a TMS, I made my exit during half-time, and never went back to that cong. I remember one night after that I got all ready, was going to be late, there's something about dragging your feet when you abhore the very idea of going. I got there, almost pulled up, but decided to keep on driving. 18months later I attempted to go back to meeting at a different cong in a different state. I realised after a few meetings that the same types of people go everywhere, just slightly different depressed looking faces. How good was the freedom afterwards, knowing that you never have to attend another meeting again and injest all that tripe, the best feeling is when you get over the guilt of feeling like you should be somewhere Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. No more guilt, just sheer relief and joy:)))...it's nice to remeniss about the eurphoria of coming out of the borg. froglett

Seriously though guys, how much did the 'my book of bible stories' mess with you head as a youngster?? It wasn't till a few years ago that I realised just how much so. Seriously though, because they're animated, but close to lifelike those pictures burned permanently into your psyche from the moment your parents started reading them to you at your bedside as a youngster. When I think back to particular "bible stories" I automatically assimilate to those jw 'artists impressions', same goes of course for 'armageddon' portrayals. Gees we were indoctrinated weren't we?? frog

Ran into a guy from my JD the other day...
by Frog inhey guys, after my post uni exam blues on saturday morning (i was having a bad morning as it was) i walked out of building and who should i run into but one of the guys from the jd committee that ousted me back in may 03!...he was also my last b/study conductor.
i've moved states, and a fair way from the cong i was in back then, but apparently this guy has also moved here and is studying law at my university!
...since then (since saturday) i have run into him on 2 seperate occassions, including when i jumped off the bus this morning coming to university grrrrrr.

thanks jb:)...I agree, it's an unusual choice for a dub to study law? I have managed to establish that he is still very much in the org though. I gather he must be studying with a veiw of putting it to use in the borg?? It's a 5 year degree minimum, pretty long committment for a dub elder to make considering the end is just around the corner, or is it straight ahead these days?!?...I can't keep up;) froglett

There is a discrepancy between Ms. Jones and Mr. Jones' lifestyle and the belief system
The article didn't expand on this apparent lifestyle discrepancy mentioned in the above, however I'm sure that if the rituals of the WIKKA faith were in any way seriously harmful, that custody of the child would be taken away from the parents. If the facts reported are reasonably accurate, I doubt this ruling can survive an appeal.
