  I honestly don't know how they can do it, go to the assembly/convention that is with the feelings they have! I realise Richies pretty young, and probably has an obligation to do so to keep the peace, and he seems pretty keen to score with hot jw chicks so is maximising his chances lol! Anyway, I just couldn't endure it, I'd sit their scoffing and feeling nauseous

  My brother wants to talk to me about why I left the org. He is JW.

  as many of you know i live in holland.. i'm visiting the us now and my brother who is now at the convention.

  in tacoma wa wants to talk to me about the reason why i left the org.. actually i'd like to, but what i'm afraid of is that it will turn into an argument,.

  Hey there Andy, should be an interesting discussion I imagine! The thing is I'd be very surprised if this wasn't intended as a one sided discussion. When he says he wants to talk to you about why you left the org, I doubt very much that he really wants to hear you out. I'd say to him that you're happy to have the discussion but be prepared to accept allot of things that might be difficult to hear, that you won't be talked at, and you're absolutely convinced in your motivations for leaving. And of course make sure you're really prepared with some good positions. Try to word the conversation in such a way that isn't an attack. If you go in with typical "apostate" reasonings he's likely to shut off and not be open to a reasonable discussion.

  WTS and the mass media

  given the extend of the abuse that the wts perpetrates on its members isn't it surprising that they don't get a lot more negative mass media coverage?

  i wonder why that is, is it because they have helpful, powerful connections or because being so rich they can buy them off?

  some extensive publicity in the mass media would cause them serious harm.

  Like IP said, mass media don't do good investigative journalism these days, there's not enough money in it. That is unless they've going to unravell some big scandal. But since we're all so desensitised by what we see on the tv, read in the paper, those good investigative journalism pieces just don't have the lasting effect to instigate change that they one used to. The Transnational Corporations like News Ltd and Fairfax media groups have diversified with their media forums to the point where good investigative journalism isn't at the core anymore. They've huge commercial companies, who've sold out on the public interest to make their millions.

  Hi A, think it's great that you have found a way to write out your feelings. Just hold on to the letter for a while and think about it a little while longer before you send it. Problem is that if your emotions changes, or your mothers health worsens you might just regret having been so honest. Perhaps there is a better time in the future to send this letter?

  I wrote a letter to my mother and sisters a few months back, took me 6months to write it. I know they all received it, I mended one bridge with a sister, but my mother and eldest sister do not plan to contact me. The reason I'm saying this is that you need to examine your motives for writing the letter. Are you writing and secretly hoping for a response, despite the fact that this is highly unlikely? If this is the case then you will most likely only end up more hurt than you already are. You don't need to apologise for feeling the way you do, you have every right to feel bitter and angry at them, but I'm certain that underneath you must really love them. We all know they are delluded on account of their association with the org.

  One final thing, if you start your letter the way you have, there is a good chance the reader won't read on. You have to remember the level of indoctrination and fear that your words will give rise to in your sister. You catch more flies with honey, so my opinion is that you would be better off to appeal to your sister out of love and absolutely frank honesty. This way she will realise that you haven't become what the org tells her you have become. I don't think you want to word your letter in such a way that seems as though you are accepting the accusations of the org, this way you are only confirming what she has feared. You need to show her that she is wrong, that you are a wonderful and honest and true person for so many reasons. Frank honesty is the only way. If you really appeal to her heart, this will have a more profound effect.

  I'll post a link of the letter I wrote to my sisters and mother, it's a little long, but you will get an idea of the style that I wrote in. My letter really appealed to one of my more reasonable sisters hearts.

  oh tsunami baby, you really don't be so hard on yourself. Most of my guy friends had a damn tough time at your age to, it's just a bit of an awkward age that's all. You'll grow into yourself, and develop more confidence, and they'll all be lusting after you:) In the meantime you shouldn't judge yourself so greatly by the way you think others see you, perhaps you need to give others a chance to see you for all the good things that you are, before you start assuming that they think the worst. One's thing for sure though, negative people who are really down on themselves aren't exactly a beacon of light for friendship and for love. As was mentioned above, use this time to your advantage to really get to know yourself, to develop your personality and to learn to respect yourself. You won't find happiness from the outside, no person/friend/girlfriend is going to fill the void that you feel within, you have to fill that with confidence and respect for yourself, then you will attract all the right people into your life. So stop beating yourself up matey, you've got nothing to worry about, just takes time, so be patient and you'll get there frog

  let me start by saying that i have the deepest respect for all of you who have left the organization.

  some of us choose to leave in spirit only but remain physically for any number of reasons.

  i have respect for you because youve been able to push through what i know is a terribly dense cloud to get to the point where you see the org for what it really is.. others choose to fade, which in many ways is harder than leaving out right.

  Wow IP, your're all fired up aren't ya! I fully understand why you want to make an impact and statement with your da'ing. I guess it's natural to want to attain some sort of positive out of this otherwise completely destructive process. It's one of those very fragile things though, very rare that a bulk of people are in the same place at the same time where you are at with it. Although I think you should be persistent with it, might need to be patient, wait a couple of weeks/months before you rally enough support for your cause, so don't give up to easily if you don't get a huge response to this thread.

  I agree with six though, in that your stand would have a greater impact if it was more like shock waves one after another in a particular district/circuit.

  Wish I could participate IP, but unfortunately they got me back in 2003...All the best with it matey, and let us know of your progress, and stick with it until you get the backing! frog

  Apportioning blame in the WTS organisation

  the wts is guilty of causing a great deal of suffering to millions of r & f dubs over a period of time at least from rutherford's days.

  if you had to apportion liabilities and punishment for this tremendous amount of evil how would you do it among their hierarchy ranks from gb to cos to elders?

  I used to feel that each of us was equally accountable, that is even though I was raised in the "troof". I've come to feel differently about that though. The GB are most certainly accountable for the structure of the organisation, which shuts its eyes to the many abuses of it's subjugates. Not only do we have covered up sexual abuse, but we have the many thousands of us here who have suffered cruely at the hands of the org. They know about us, but they do nothing to help us. Sure we are all accountable for the decisions we make, and we have to take responsibility, but the WTBTS takes advantage of weak people in a vunerable state of mind. We all know how almost impossible it is to break away from the org when you're in it, you end up all churned up and squeezed out the other end of a very long, painful and unjust process.

  I think we were all victims in our own way, but the GB are most certainly hugely accountable, despite that most of us didn't have any direct contact with them. It's a well oiled machine, and yes they were talking to us directly through their publications, mind control from the platform and their circuit overseers. frog
