14, then for some reason it stopped. My lil bro was 16 and bigger and stronger than my pa before he realised that dad didn't have it over him anymore. My sisters and my room that we shared was covered in strap marks from where dad had flung, missed and hit the wall!...oh the memories...

Even though I know I don't really belong on this thread, I have to say what I've said before...and that is that I admire all you UBM's so very much for what you go through. I myself could have never gone through the transitional stages of leaving the org and experimenting with new trains of thought while giving maintaince to a marriage to a BM. It's difficult enough to go through all the motions of learning to let go of an unsustainable belief system without having to work on a marriage that becomes gradually more and more unsustainable because of it. When you allow yourself to become open to alternatives, it's difficult to imagine that those closest to you aren't at the same place you are with it.
While there are a handful of partnerships amongst friends and family that I admire and respect because of what they have between eachother, I believe what what they have is a very rare thing, and shouldn't be promoted as something attainable for everyone. My honest belief is that it's unnatural for humans to choose a partner to mate for life with. We've tried to use notions of morality and ethics to bind people together exclusively and indefinitely for centuries now, but now that's all coming undone.

Australian music.
by avishai ini love australian rock.
cruel sea, beasts of bourbon, nick cave, the church, dave graney, midnight oil, hell, even early inxs (don't change is one of the best songs ever written) and even some kiwi stuff, like split enz/crowded house.
so, for the ozzies on this board, what is it about oz that gives the music it's distinct sound.

Yep, John Butler Trio Rock, they've got a great folk thing going on. I'm real surprised they've made it to the UK:)

I think most practicing dubs get off on the idea of their unique take on doctrine. I'm no theologian, but if I were convinced that bible was accurate and had practicle and current application, I would have to say that it's a fine line between interpreting the written word as heavenly or earthly paradise. To me it makes little difference, since I believe not in either. Paradise is now, and here. To me to believe otherwise is just a creative (and harmful) way of dealing with those things in this life of over which we have little control, it's about reducing anxiety, and wanting to believe that there is ultimate justice for those that do wrong. It also helps back up human chauvanist thinking, thinking that proports that humans are the ultimate purpose of the universe, and all that we have here was put here for us, not rather that all the trillions of living things on this earth each make meaning in their own unique way.

Benefits of being a Dub as a child
by pratt1 in.
i can't think of many benefits of growing up a a dub but i do remember that i always viewed the other dub kids as brorthers and sisters and they became my support system amongst the "worldly people".
i remember going into a new neighhood or a new school and knowing that once i met the dub kids there, i would automatically have friends and i would not be alone.. this was especially comforting to me because i was an only child, and many times i entered into a new school not knowing anyone and sometimes being the only black kid in the class, my dub peers made me feel welcome and accepted me into the circle immediately.. for many years i feel special to be part of this worldwide brotherhood, and i am sure it is the reason why now i am inafriad of changes and/or new surroundings.. did you have similar experiences?.

being a dub kid was bloody hard work, and don't we all know it! Hard to think of an upside, but you gotta laugh in the end. Best memory of bein a dub kid was in grade-3 going up to the front of the class the day before 'Australia Day' or ANZAC day (can't remember which), to tell my hairy old bag of a teacher that I wouldn't be coming to school the next day because of the focus on nationalistic celebrations (I was great with big words at 7 when my folks put em in my mouth;), cause my folks told me I had to!! So what does my old hairy bag of a teach do?? well the only thing she can do of course, parade me in front of the class and make an example of me, saying that if anyone like frog doesn't turn up to school for patriotic celebrations that she'll send the police over to get us, and there's no use hiding under the bed! And do you think that the 3 other dub kids in my classroom got up and stood up for me, no flippinn way, and that's instant dub friends for ya;)

comes from a literal interpretation of scriptures like when Jebus told that dude when they were up on the X that "you will be with me in paradise", or, "the meek shall inherit the earth".
I assume it must've been Russell, or one of the early scripture benders? I'm assuming that the jdubs are the only org that "holds out hope" for an "earthly paradise"? What about the Latter Day's, I've a feeling they may have a similar take, but would have to look it up, and they came on the scene first did they not?
