Care to back up that statement with some proof?

ok, lets have a discussion about where we all came from, evolution or creation?
(or whatever you beleive in of course) every one put down there main reasons, along with reasonable facts and backup as to why.. .
hopefully this doesnt start to many arguments, lol.. .

i was looking at a list today, of countries that have nuclear weapons.
i always think of the united states, russia, france and china.
what shocked me, were pakistan, and india also have nuclear weapons.
Maybe we should be totaly democratic about this and grant the right for every human to have a nuclear weapon.

hello all who may read this, i am in the midst of writing a story, and a character who has appeared in the story is a jehovah's witness... i am attempting to gain a better understanding of the religion and its practitioners so as to present witnesses in a fair light... i am of no religious affiliation, but i assume that anything that a person believes is valid as long as they have put it through much consideration and thoughtfulness...
) of you are ex-witnesses, but i would like to know about what first attracted you to the religion to begin with... was it just passed down in your family, or did you make a conscious choice to become a witness?
if so, for what reasons?
Phil, you've hit on a very good discussion point with your post. Basically, apart from being an entrepreneur, Russell was an over enthusiastic bible prophecy seeker who's writings got out of control. Then Rutherford took the helm to create the foundation of the church of the 'Watchtower'. I don't believe that Russell originally thought of creating a religion only for ego, but believed, or at least wanted to believe, what he wrote. After he died, the rest is history.

our new circuit overseer was telling us yesterday that we should be careful that we use scriptures in context, and should always be ready to explain the verse in context if the householder queries our interpretation.
because some people have claimed that jehovah's witnesses take verses out of context!
well it strikes me that the society does not set a very good example for the publishers in this regard.
Daniel chapter 2. A fulfilled prophecy writen after the fact, to be fulfilled again.

in the thread begun by our very own circus strongman, the amazing dan lurie, i had wondered about the deployment of the airbag and the smell that amazing reported made him think the car was on fire.
a smell so string and convincing that he was highly motivated to exit the vehicle, which he did by literally tearing the door off it's hinges and throwing it across the road.
adrenaline and gamma-irradiated circus strongman muscles make a potent combination!.
"a gun shot that went off right in my face!"
Friend of Mr Cheney are we? I hope you apologised.

i have been reading the bible with a new perspective for some time, i guess i identify with drew s from a lot of his comments sound like what i think.
i have been thinking about what i read without the wt influence and i would like to get ya'll's input on this scripture.. .
revelation 20 1-6. to me it seems to indicate that satan will be bound "first" then the ressurection of those to rule with christ for a thousand years.. also.
Leolaia, thanks for the reply.

Fascinating stuff Leolaia, thanks for your reply. Can I ask, as regards to "rumors about a devastating return of Nero", where could I find more information.

as a jw i was always taught "you must go on the ministry" ( taught as a "command" of jesus to be applied to everyone - or you wouldnt be doing gods will and therefore he could not be pleased with you ) and many other things, "do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together etc" as an example you must get to the meetings or you are inactive in gods eyes.
however after reading jesus words basically saying accept jesus as gods son and love your neighbour, i began wondering more and more whether the ministry is a necessity for many people.
i personally never minded the ministry except when i found i was spreading mans deception and lies.
It depends if you follow Christ or Paul. Christ removed ALL of the old mosaic laws and gave his followers two new laws. Paul then added a bunch more later.

Maybe the writer of Revelation was writing metaphorically about contemporary issues. Maybe, if he had written in a literal way, he would have been killed. For me this is the easiest explanation.
That or the guy was tripping his head off or interestingly schizophrenic.

as i looked at the adam and eve story again, i realized the something is wrong with the story.
jehovah offers the pair all the fruits in the garden of eden save the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.
there's a problem though, why would there be a fruit for that if bad supposedly wasn't around at that point yet?
