What is their excuse?
by bagpuss ini've recently been looking at examples of how the wts misquote sources to support their theories,often omitting large portions of a quote.. one that made me angry was a quote in the reasoning book on page 89 under the subject of cross.
here is the quote,the omitted parts highlighted.. "the greek word for cross, stauros, properly signified a stake, an upright pole, or a piece of paling, on which anything might be hung, or which might be used in impaling (fencing in) a piece of ground.
but a modification was introduced as the dominion and usages of rome extended themselves through greek speaking countries.

JWs at My Door - and the Answer to a Prayer
by hemp lover inthis happened almost three years ago, but since i always enjoy reading about other people's jw encounters, i thought i'd finally share one of my own.. i lived in an apartment for four years following my disfellowshipping and no one had ever come to my door, not even so much as a shepherding visit.

) i had lurked on this board for a while, but was put off by the anger and negativity of some people and so i didn't stay long.

I'm not sure your correct on this. Last night I downed I few jars at the pub, and woke up in bed this morning. I have No recolection of moving through space or time from the pub to bed. My only conclusion is that darn bar tender's using her teleporter on me again.

i was indoctrinated as a child so i never got a chance to ever use sound reason and judgement toword the validity of the society's claims.
but anywho i was thinking the other day about certain things that are obvious red flags and far fetched claims that the org makes.

Only if you're a Witness. If you're a Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Lutheran, Anglican, Adventist etc. then you are told to question their church's teachings using any materials you want. Only in this religion is it denied.
Mary, JDubs are adventists, show them their histroy, whats the cogs turn, and wait for the excuses.

I've been asked to speak about JW's
by Junction-Guy ini started talking with my barber about a month ago about jw's and he is a young guy and involved with his church youth group.
he has now asked me to come to his church and speak about jw's, i am so excited about this and cant wait.
i have alot of preparation work to do beforehand, and im also gonna try to show some videos to the group.

the elders are pulling the "2 witness rule" out of their arses to protect the guy.
he was 22 at the time.

I LOVE Sunday mornings!
by nicolaou inin the week i have to get up at 5:15 and go to work while the rest of my family are gently snoring in their warm and toasty beds - not fair.
on saturdays the mornings are usually a bit noisy with teenage kids and their friends coming and going, mobiles ringing and the sound of spongebob coming from my little girls room.. but sundays.
