  Would a Father really destroy His children for disobeying and arrogance?

  If I were a father I could never do something so hateful as killing my children for the crime of disobedience. Never!

  But JW do so by refusing blood for their kids to save the childs life. How many JW kids have died of that? Is that any better or any different?

  It makes me incredibly angry to know that my parents would have easily sacrificed me on Gods "no blood-altar"! I am so lucky to have never needed blood when I was underaged because my own parents would have killed me without thinking twice!

  ok what are some of the strangest prayers you said amen to.

  not the hole preyer but some stuff you thought at the time.

  First of all I want to state that I always liked the "free style" form of JW prayers. If I would still pray I would go on doing it that way.

  In answer to the question:

  By reading your coments I remembered too that every prayer ended with the quote "in the name of Jesus" or likewise. So I was wondering: Why do JW have to send their prayers via Jesus and at the same time they say Jesus was the mediator only of the 144.000? To me this doesn't seem to make any sense.

  seems like the mags, the km's, the books are all recycled information from the 1980's.. seems like they thought the end would come in the late 80's based on all the armageddon articles (i seem to remember lots of those in those years).. once we hit the 90's, the some ol recycled information, it's like groundhog day.

  seems like the wt writers are cuttin and pastin.

  why doesn't jehovah bless his people with the greatest writers of all time for the biggest event of all time?

  Why should the WTS put hard work into creating new visions? The old dried up ones still work. My parents are still absolutely zealous. For them "powdered milk" seems to be enough. "Fresh milk" would probably cause constipation.

  can anyone guess what this is a"thrilling" book is about.....the end is "here" (tm)...so be good so you can make it to the other side of armageddon per the wt, maybe...all the bs that fits in 192 pages...a copy and paste job for sure.... proandcon

  How Do I Get Rid of these Thoughts?

  though i no longer think like a witness i still think "that is what i would think if i was still a witness".. everytime i see a birthday party or christmas on tv i think "ohh, if i was a jw i would think they were pagan, and not really having fun.".

  when i speak to someone at work and they say they got drunk or wasted on the weekend i think "oooh, if i was a jw i would be offended by that, but i don't really care anymore.".

  i would much prefer to be able to take life for what it is, not constantly compare what it was with what it is and what i am thinking it will be.. any suggestions on how to erase the ridiculous notions that were drummed into me from birth?

  Good idea, AuldSoul!

  jwfacts, whenever I had such thoughts popping up they were almost automatically followed by the thought: "Thank god I'm free!" or "Isn't it great to be out of it?". That often included a relaxed smile (sometimes a big grin). I suppose you could say it was a bit like "Count your blessings!"

  How little I knew about REAL life!

  But in my limited role, I notice that I can walk a city block in a couple minutes that used to take me all morning.

  What Things Do You Find Interesting About Jehovah's Witnesses?

  there's a lot that i find intriguing about the witnesses.

  i'm amazed that a jw can ignore what is obvious regarding their own hypocrisy.

  they know that only jws are supposed to make it into the great tribulation yet if they are asked, "what about the babies or the billions that never heard the truth?

  I am impressed by the incredible amount of power the org has over the r&f.

  I am impressed by how far people are willing to go for something they believe in.

  I am impressed by the coldheartedness a person can impress who claims to be christian.

  The result of this is that few JWs really experience many highly emotional states

  With constant reminders that the end is near, the world is dangerous and soon to be destroyed and the only place of safety is within God's "ark", the WTS, most JWs are very flat in their emotional responses .

  You got it, Lady Lee! I couldn't have said it any better. Control a persons emotions and you control that person. And - even worse - if you do that long and good enough the person will begin to control others and himself likewise. After some time you don't have to do much anymore, it works anyway.

  Maybe not everything bad will change into something good but looking back on my life so far I must state that it weren't the good things that had the biggest impact on me but the pain that I've gone through. I've learned the most from my suffering and how I overcame it. It taught me what is of importancet in my life and what not. As the old saying goes: "No pain no gain!"

  I can also see this happening on a bigger scale: When things go wrong - like when we have a drought in Africa or a tsunami in Asia - that's when people start to give it an eye and try to solve the problem. If everything was fine with us and our environment all the time then mankind had no reason to move forward and learn. Life would be really boring without a reason to seek improvement, wouldn't it?
