  JWs and the weird way they say Happy Birthday

  you who don't know -- i'm daed but my mother still sends me very short e-mail about every two months.. this morning she sent me an email that said:.

  25 today.

  it would be sooooo wrong for someone to say -- "happy birthday" .. but its fine to mention that i am 25 today.

  personally, i suffered a great deal in the truth because of independent thinkingthinking like satan.. what about youre experiences?as a witness, did you feel doubts or questions come into your mind and if you dared, .

  I spoke my mind whenever I felt there was something to speak about and was often told that I was wrong because my thoughts were different from those that were preached at the cong. I've heard that again and again over the years. If you have a different viewpoint than the official rules than that must mean that you're wrong.

  What's the difference between humans and animals if there is no God

  I don't believe in a god and I don't think the difference between humans and animals is that big. Science can meanwhile prove that animals are quite intelligent, use tools, come to conclusions and make differing decisions because of that, have feelings, mourn, and so on. That pretty much describes humans, too.

  It always troubled me to think humans are the crown of creation as we were taught. Because I never heard about animals building WMD (as was already said) and destroying the earth for the sake of making (even more) money. Maybe humans are just a malfunction of nature, monsters if you will. So I consider it a strong possibility that humans will become extinct as we are so busy destroying our own foundation of existence. And I'd say, the earth will be a better place without humans. Hopefully it will then be able to regenerate - if mankind leaves anything on this planet that could be regenerated.

  Do you believe in God? oR Jesus?

  so....do any of you believe in some person in the sky floating around called jesus?

  or having a relationship with that person (or god) who is in some other dimension apparantly?

  being a witness, they stressed so much having a relationship with "jehovah" and all that.

  No. I don't owe obedience to a fairy tale. I am therefore fully responsible for myself. I also have all the strenght inside of me, it is not something external that I have to work for or be thankful for.

  Is It Impossible To Reach A Devout JW ???

  i wonder.

  a very typcal witness may see the obvious negatives that jws know they have.

  they might acknowledge that there's often a lack of love, that the elders can be demanding, that "new light" can change long cherished beliefs in an instant.......but still they cling on and resist any sort of intellectual discussion as to why the witnesses are off soooooo many times.....what gives??

  I think a devout JW is not that different to an alcoholic. He has to find out himself that something's wrong. No other person can reach him if he doesn't want to see it himself.

  But I think for a religious person this is even more difficult than for an alcoholic, because it's about a religion and therefore about GOD himself. A person who believes in a god usually feels deep respect towards this god and might therefore probably not dare to question the religion he's in because this could make him feel like questioning god, too, which he doesn't wish to or feels like he doesn't have the right to.

  Also for a religious person his religion is the basement of his life. Who would easily pull the foundation of his life from under himself if he can avoid it?

  So I absolutely understand JWs even if I don't like what I see.

  1. It stopped me from feeling like I was the only one. Suddenly I realised there are so many people out there who are going through similar emotions and thoughts.

  2. Reading other peoples stories and advices helped me gaining insight in myself. That made it easier for me to move on.

  3. Although I grew up in a JW-family this forum taught me a lot of things about the org I didn't know about and didn't see. I also gained deeper understanding about how mind control works and how cults use it to manipulate people. I didn't really think about that subject before but after all this subject turned out to be one of the biggest keys for me.

  Summing it up I have to say a big "THANK YOU" to all who have posted here.
