The organisation is a self-centred, self-righteous cult which treats any show of dissent - righteous or otherwise - as a threat to its existence. It hires narrow-minded men (elders) via the golden carrot of ego-tickling position to laud it over the congregations and do its dirty work and oversee that its view is ALWAYS held as sacrosanct
Ian, next time dont beat around the bush...tell us what you really feel...
Agree wholeheartedly though

okay, i know this is personal, but i kind of like the annoninimity of the board versus asking my friends who are all also friends with my husband.. my husband went out of the country with a group from work this weekend.
i was supposed to go but had to cancel due to other stuff.
it turned out only 4 ended up going, my husband, a guy, and two women.
I have to agree as a red blooded male that it is possible that this is wholly innocent but the red flags for me is the fact that it wouldnt have been hard to make some other arrangements or to at least force the issue that the room arrangements stayed as planned and to tell his colleague that he would have to tie a knot in it for that evening.
I feel for your situation but I have to admit it would cause me to look twice at the situation...however I hope he is being honest with you and that he is worth the benefit of the doubt on this...its a tough situation.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I cant see them reinstating you to be honest (even though I know that probably isnt really your aim), they would be too concerned in how much you know about WTS sordid history and they would probably do another talk in your local congregation about not associating with apostates and why they should not use the internet.
Good point though; its just shows how hypocritical and self serving the GB are doesnt it?

you may not remember, but i know you very well.
i met you a long time ago when you came to my house with your smiling faces, your neat clothes, and your soft voices, and a bible tucked neatly under your arm.
you told me beautiful stories of a "paradise earth," and a "righteous new system" which would be established shortly.
but when you're at the top is there really anyone leading you astray
Good point; its their own dreams of grandeur and self importance which leads them astray, I dont know how they live with themselves.

some of you may know that my parents and whole family do not have any contact with me, apart from my dad who has provided his mobile number for "family business/emergencies".
i never try to contact them anymore after a negative experience after being beaten up trying to break up a streetfight last november when i called my dad and he hung up as soon as he realised it was me crying on the other end.. .
anyway - i decided that just because they want to forget about me i don't have to be the same anymore and i wanted them to know how happy i was.
Nina I've always thought your parents shunning of you to be so extreme even by JW standards, the fact that you leave the door open for them even in spite of this is remarkable and a credit to you. Lets hope one day they will have a change of heart.
Definately the right thing, the secret is to be not too downhearted if they dont reply in the manner you would like them to.

when i was a kid my dad told me that when you said "amen" at the end of your prayer, that it meant "praise to jehovah".
i was listening to howard stern this morning and they were discussing the death of the pope, and they mentioned that his last word was "amen".
robin(the woman that does the news on the howard stern radio show) asked them what they thought that "amen" meant.
i was taught that it was meant let it be so....or something like that...hallelujah was praise be to god.
