I think the ending of this relationship was as warped and twisted as the relationship that had existed for the previous four years. Maybe they deserved each other....don't you think?
Either way, it still made me feel sad. A relationship that just might have worked in a different era, was possibly ruined by todays views that 'sex really is nothing'. Sadly, like life, it seems to have become cheapened. Many peoples existences are now sadder and colder because of it.
Love from Gill ........ still feeling sad that a couple of people could be so shallow in the first place and both lack backbone to act with dignity to others in ther lives!

I am not entirely sure whether 'they deserved each other' as he was blissfully unaware of his girlfriends behaviour; betrayal can turn someone who previously might have been extremely loving and caring into someone bitter without it being a reflection upon how he previously behaved towards her. Had there been problems in the relationship surely he wouldnt have considered proposing; another point is that if she wasnt happy then she shouldve left and then pursued whatever liaisons she wished to have elsewhere.

I have been there and understand completely how someone might feel in such circumstances and whilst I agree it is sad, it does tend to make me appreciate the fabulous relationship I am in and the level of honesty we have with each other.

despite all the shunning crap - or perhaps because of it - i feel less inclined to take positive action against the watchtower these days.

perhaps it's just a temporary malaise or maybe it's that the organisation i looked up to for so long now seems small, petty and trivial and frankly i just don't want to waste my time and energy on it.. what do you think..

The WTBTS 'wound me up' for the majority of my life so far, now I want some fun being 'bad' and having a bit of 'wind up' time of my own.
I have become a lot calmer and more calculated towards the WTBTS. It rarely brings me out in a rage now, infact it just makes me laugh a lot, and I think that is why I am hooked on chatting here and forcing people who have shunned me for years into talking to me.

Its cheaper than therapy and no doubt a damn sight more satisfying too!

For me, on a personal level, I'm satisfied that the WTS was defeated in 1995 when they published what amounted to a retraction of the 1914 doctrine.

Excellent point, this massive goalpost shift just hammered home every nail in the WTS coffin in my view - I was already bordering on inactive when this new light was shed, the news only confirmed previously what I originally thought would happen. DB74

I listened to the whole thing. I thought it more sad than funny. I think that if she had any idea her 'boyfriend' of four years was ready to commit she might not have done the deed (under the influence of alcohol and four years of apparent indifference from the twerp she had been sleeping with).

This really isnt the issue, the facts were that she had been caught being unfaithful (and she didnt deny it), if she wasnt happy and hypothetically felt her partner was indifferent then she should have gotten out of the relationship. Alcohol also is no excuse!

What I find is dismaying is that a great deal of laughter comes from hearing stories of how women get their revenge on cheating men but when the shoe is on the other foot, it attracts criticism and sympathy for the woman who did the cheating - WTF?

I would probably be the first to raise concerns when women are treated inconsistently and unfairly and so when the opposite is true and there appears to be double standards, I cannot help but call it how I see it.

a stay at home dad posted on craig's list that he was looking for platonic email correspondance with a lady, someone to talk about life with, insights into relationships, a reason to turn on the computer in the morning et cetera....... my fiance occasionally finds herself seeking relationships with select people online and getting into soulful conversations with them.

she feels that people can be their truest selves in these moments.

to share the quirks of life with random fellow americans is somehow thrilling to her.

I have no doubt that there are exceptions to the rule and that there are genuine people behind their screens however the internet provides a forum for people to hide, for people to pretend to be what they are not and to ultimately deceive. This presents a real danger and we should be careful.

The question should in your case be, whether your husband, wife, partner would mind you having such a platonic friendship normally; if you speak to your online friend everyday, would your husband, wife, partner mind if they came over for coffee everyday, particularly when your husband, wife, partner wasn't present? Would your husband, wife, partner mind if you went over to your internet friends house everyday without your husband, wife, partner being there too?

I am not for one minute suggesting that platonic friendships are wrong and that your respective husband wife partner should go everywhere with you, but where such relationships exclude the other partner, involve confiding in your marital problems, and involve intense feelings for each other, then its simply wrong.

Affairs are not just physical and or sexual they can also be emotional too; if there is an emotional attachment to that person which excludes your husband, wife, partner whether it be over the internet or otherwise - its infidelity - simple!

do jws suffer from foot and mouth?

the reason i ask this, is whenever i see them in the street, they seem to have lost the ability to speak and immediately look down at some problem they are having with their feet.

has anyone else noticed this, is it a medical problem and whats more, can it cured?.

No but most elders wives are mad cows!!

If they try to ignore me, always shout 'Hello' kindly and smile at them. It throws them in a big way. There's a JW window cleaner I run into regularly on a Friday! My husband is always telling me off for forcing this Elder to say 'Hello' to me, because I smile and wave, and call to him. The poor bloke has even tried hiding his head in his bucket, but no one can resist a pretty face with a smile on it, especially when that smile is directed at them, and them only!
Last Friday, I was told 'If you don't leave him alone, he's going to fall off his ladder one day trying to avoid you!' Husband gets a bit annoyed sometimes!
However, one grabs ones entertainment where one can!
Today, I trapped on JW trying to avoid me on a central reservation. She's been unwell and I went gently with her. She's avoided me for four years now so I did lots of smiling, and told her how well we all were and very happy. Then I turned my attention to her health problems and gave her a little advice on that which she said she would follow up. She was 'rescued' by a passing JW who called to her from across the road. The 'rescuer' attempted to ignore me, but I didn't allow that and she quickly caved in and waved back!
Did I tell you we have a JW post man now! I never used to bother going to the door when the post man came, I just let him post the letters. When I get time, I open the door, smile and say 'thank you'. I've known him since he was about 12, and he knows he 'shouldn't' really be saying 'hello' to me, but the poor bloke is trapped! I'm sure he was trying to sneak up the path yesterday and post the letters silently, but my parrot always starts sqwauking when she hears him!
There are always the JWs that will not ignore anyone of course! These are worth cultivating as you can tell them how well you and your family are, and are doing, and also so normal human kindness to as any normal person would.
I don't allow the local JWs to have foot and mouth anymore!

Thats too funny although I think you purposefully hang around places you know you will come into contact with JWs- its obvious, you even have your parrot trained.

i used to be here a real lot.

now i make about 15 posts , if that,.

per day and read a few other threads that interest me.

If I am in the office I have a window open constantly - the window speaks to me, draws me in and should I think of doing anything other than reading or posting I get a shooting sensation through the top of my head and behind my eyes. The withdrawals are a nightmare to cope with, I get paranoid when I am away from my desk and wish that I could take my laptop to the bathroom with me when I need the loo!

When I am away from the office, I frantically engineer ways in which I can get back to my office just to check JWD and check for PMs (not that I get many ~*hint*~ ). I hate being in court as I do not have internet access and sometimes when I am bored and a judge finds it necessary to ask me a question I sometimes involuntarily respond 'I am not an apostate, I am a free man'; the judiciary dont know what the feck I mean but hey, its all part of the psychosis of addiction.

I average about 5 post a day and rising - the counselling hasnt helped any, the withdrawals get worse and the voices get louder!

recently, my mom was threatened by the elders to stop associating with me or else.

i guess she feared i was becoming an "apostate".

'I love you'

yesterday, i came to the realisation, that nobody has ever said these words to me, least not that i can remember, which was a temporarily devastating moment for me.

this began with my father.

spotting him in front of the tv in his favourite chair, i walked over and came out with the words 'i love you' it felt very weird, because i think it may be the first time i've ever said these words myself, but i'm going to blame my upbringing on this.
