How do you think the society would react if...

Mother in law told off for speaking to her daughter
by chuckyy inmy wife and i disassociated 3 months ago and my wifes mother is still a jw....but.....she still sees us regularly.
today, a 'clipboard' elder went down to see her.
he has been her book study overseer for a year and has never once gone to see her even though her husband is dying.

last year, a friend of minewas disfellowsiped. she was only 19 but her parents asked her to leave the house. she had to pay for her studies, for a room, for food... i found that totally disgusting. she drove mad, and return to the KH. then, her parents were agree to see her again. she had not change, she was still the same girl before being disfellowsiped, while being disfellowshiped, and after. but her parents did love her only when she was "a good christian". that's really great that your mother-in law is this way, and continues to see you!!

the JW approach to sexual abuse
by spopeislandstyle ini was molested by a brother in my congregation when i was nine years old.
when i told my mother she went directly to a family friend and respected elder to seek advise.
a couple days later, he and another elder made a visit to our home and questioned me for hours.

welcome on the board spopeislandstyle! thanks for sharing this with us, i suppose it was not easy. i'm sure you're not alone in this case as sexual abuses in congragations is one of the famous subjects that are studied on ex-JWs'sites. don't be afraid of talking about that with us, if it can help you to live this!!!

my funny mother...
by mrsjones5 intold me that she had sent me a package of candies and cookies.
i got one of the packages today.
it consist of two small boxes, one with a red bucket of candy with a red heart on the front with a caption that says "wishing you a happy valentine's day!

my best friend who's JW always gives me something for my birthday. she never does that on the D-day of course (it would be too enormous) but on the week!

Just got back from my birthday dinner.
by Undecided inmy family took me out to dinner for my birthday(69th) and it was really great.
i could feel the love they had for me.
it made me feel like i was appreciated and my life wasn't wasted.

Diary of a nobody
by New Worldly Translation inhi, i'm new to these forums so i thought i would share some experiences of when i was a jw.. i was born in 1976 into a staunch jw family.
my grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc were all jw's going back to the 1950's.
when i was a child my parents, like a lot of jw parents, didn't let me have worldly friends.

ok ... to me it's not totally related to jw life actually, i'm here because i'm used now to chat with people (you know like you go into a cafe and share wathever you want with whoever as this board is very rich and full for immediat interaction), support them, get some support ... i just like that ... also of course it's very interesting at the same time to follow some news and get information that i might spit back to my familly in time to wake them up .... what about you ?
