My friends husband just a quad by-pass and is not doing to well. They live 2,000 miles away and I would like to find a fitting quote to send in a card.

Uplifting and positive, yet reflective their time togeather and of what may come.

They are Roman Catholic and heve been togeather for 50 years.

so i asked my jw friend, if her younger sister chose to date/marry a man who was not jw, would she shun her like i have read here?

she responded by saying that her sis would never do that....... .

i responded by asking again....what if she did?

I responded by asking again....What if she did? Would you never speak to her again?

She shrugged her shoulders.....then said she cannot change what she believes.

I asked if the bible told her that, she said yes....in several places.

Can anyone cite where they get this from?
Can someone show me where the bible says you should shun your own siblings?

What about deprograming from the inside???? I have to admit that I have a new found morbid fasination with JDubs and the WTS after meeting several through work. I have actually considered asking for a "study" and possably going to meetings just to see what its like. I wonder if I did this, how long I could last????

I have a 25y/o coworker who seems to fit the typical mold of a JW: Born in 25 years ago. Father is an elder. Cant think for self. Very smart but uneducated. Arrogant yet no self confidance. For some stupid reason I want to take this person under my wing and get them to "see the light". Not bring them to my (or any) religion, just help them to think for themselves. How would someone get started in this venture? (Yes I know, I'm an idiot)

i got into a debate with 2 other friends (one a mormon and the other jw, i'm rc) about the blood transfusion issue.

the jw friend cited: genesis 9:4,16 leviticus 7:26,27 & 17:14 acts 15:28,29 & 21:25

i cannot for the life of me see how anyone can read those and honestly beleve that what was ment was to reject blood to save life!

Both myself and my Mormon friend beleve that it refers to the ritualistic sacrifice/offering of blood common in those times. As I'm sure many here already know, we recived a blank stare and shruging sholders when we tried to get our JW friend to communicate how they can think it to mean anything else. I asked if she would let her newborn baby die for the lack of giving her own blood to it, and she simply kept saying God forbid it. I asked if she would breast feed and she said yes, I explained that breast milk contains blood (Blank stare) I asked if she ate meat, she said yes, I said it contains blood (Blank stare) [B]Can anyone help with some SIMPLE items I can use to try and take this discussion deeper, from the hipocracy of the WTC on this issue as well as the actual facts concerning what is written? Is there anything anyone can think of that is written that actually goes against what they beleve when saving a life? My Mormon friend thinks there is something in the Bible that talks about this and actually refutes JW belief and is trying to find it tonight.[/B]
