My Dad
by Crumpet injust a wee update on my current tentative drawing out of my family.
i sent a letter, which not coincidentally was timed to arrive on fathers day weekend just gone.
its the first letter i've sent in 8 years to my family and whilst i was careful to avoid any mention of religion i did talk about how happy i was generally and mentioned how nice it is that i see so much of my inlaws who despite living 800 miles away make regular visit to us at least 3 or 4 times a year.

Glad you used unplanned instead of unwanted. My first kid was unplanned and yes it was a struggle especially given our young ages at the time. We decided that staying together for the sake of the child was not a valid reason but nor was separating. I was stuck in the dead end job and my partner, now wife, had to give up any hope of further education. We moved 300 miles away from our families so we could afford to rent a house instead of a single room, we would have been able to get help from our parents I'm sure but we didn't want to start our family life dependant on others. We've struggled, there were times when what we now consider to be every day items luxuries. A lot of help both emotional and financial has come form both sets of parents. All the sacrifices are worth it in the end, my wife will be completing her degree next year, I haven't made it to company director but my job is enjoyable and on Saturday and Sunday mornings my kids slob around in their PJ's watching cartoons on the telly.

I hate all soaps with a passion bar one, Home and Away, and strike me hansom if it isn't all down to Alf Stuart and his colourful ozzie colloquialisms, the flaming galar.

needs some opinions & advices
by cookiegirlie ini've read some posts here and i could see that you were helping each other so i thought i could post & maybe get some answers :-).
i've known the jws since i was little my mom was going to the kingdom hall but then we stopped cos our life was too complicated and we didn't have time for that thought we kept studying at home with a jw as i got older ( teen years ) i hated the study book but never told my mom or anybody i didn't wanted to hurt my mom i love her so much!.
a few years ago i finally told my mom that i hated to read thoses books because i get so bored & that i wasn't interested in it , i do believe in jehovah's and jesus' existence thought but i so hate what the org ask us to do like don't dress like that , go to meetings .... first reaction i got from my mom was so you wanna die but then after a long talk she understood , no matter what i'll love her forever.

Hi cookiegirlie and welcome,
Have a good read of the site and you'll not only get the answers but more of those questions they just can't answer. The book reading, threats of death, disapproving looks and oppression of women is all about control nothing about god. They are more concerned in you sell books, donating money and converting others to do the same. Keep asking away both here and at home, the witnesses hate an enquiring mind.

Speaking slowly "for the sisters"
by Grace ini was looking at the long list of jw "don'ts" and "can'ts" someone posted here and i was reminded of a talk at the service meeting an elder gave once.
it was from one of the most elementary of publications (aren't they all???
) and the elder on the platform said, "i'll speak slowly for the sisters.

The strength of spirit shown by the women on this forum I wonder how any of them could have been dubs for a day let alone most of their lives.

Every single item of clothing I wore in the 80's. Every iridescent shirt, every jacket with fancy lining rolled up to my armpits, every pair of puffy trousers, every winkle tipped shoe.
