  An 11 year old being df'd???????????????

  Why would parents allow an 11 to get baptized? Did this kid understand what was happening? I cannot begin to understand how anyone would shun a child, I wonder what kind of impact this must have had on the childs still developing personality? Absolutely cruel. There is no way in hell that 11 year is mature enough to fully comprehend the scope or magnitude of baptisim at that age.

  I remember in my cong there were really young kids getting baptized, one girl at 9 years old. I cannot believe the org alows this to happen, but yet marriage should be held off until "the bloom of youth has passed". Does this make sense?

  i saw very little racism or prejudice in the hall.

  i'm wondering if my experience is isolated.

  Just to add to this I do remember that the white brothers always liked the spanish sisters, so in my cong there were quite a few marriages between white and spanish, from what I remember it was just confined to the spanish sisters hooking up with the white bros, (fyi.. the sisters didn't need green cards)then the sisters would be whisked away to the hubby's english cong. I did recently find out from a chat room friend here on JWD, that is white, and was married to a black person, they were both dubs.

  I don't know about this, I went to a spanish KH growing up.

  But I can tell you that in my cong they always patted themselves on the back as to how JW's of all ethnicities were in harmony. They also would love to point out that the KH's were not racialy divided. They used the ex of a an all "black baptist church" compared with that of an all "white baptist church."

  And to be honest I thought this was a really great quality that the JW's had, then later I read Free Minds.org, about how the GB is racist.

  SEX in it's self is a selfish act.

  You do not need to love in order to have sex and climax, "we" can also pleasure ourselves and reach climax. Do not mistake sex and love as being one emotion.

  From my gay friends I have come to know that you are born gay.

  Barney, how can you expect someone like this to go through there whole life with out sex? If they don't like women fine, there is no need to make a guy man conform to religious veiws that are beyond his control. So do you think these gay men should marry women in order to try to change or save themselves? How tragic that would be for the poor unfortunate woman who ends up in an unhappy & possibly sexless marriage, just to appease others.That Barney is REVOLTING. As far as disease is concerned people should try to be monogamous and use condoms.

  While I don't want to see gay men have sex in my face, they should be allowed to sleep with other men in the privacy of their homes,if that's what floats their boat.

  Classism in America?

  i recently had an experience at school where i felt like the one odd poor class in the room.

  the conversation started with homelessness and then gravitated to poor people in general.

  there were a lot of weird and false assumptions laid out like "those people walk hunched over" and " they" .....well you get the picture.

  Sorry you had to expirience that. Yes there is definitely classism in America.

  I too grew up poor, my grandparents raised me and neither one had an education and spoke english poorly, my g-dad was a janitor and worked his but off, my g-ma never worked a day in her life and wasn't about to. I was made fun of in school for my clothes as they were always hand me downs or I wore the same thing over and over, at the KH there was a very petite sister in her 50's who gave my mother dresses for me, they were awful! OMG the embarrasment I felt at wearing ultra conservative old lady clothes, I felt like such an unattractive idiot. The expirience left me with self esteem issues that have taken a long time to get better. Now I can say that I go out of my way to be very stylish. My husband and I are well off and feel it's important to teach kids about compasion and humility, when he is old enough we will have him do volunteer work with the poor in hopes that he does not grow up to be a snob, and understands we are all human being with feelings regardless of social or educational success.

  Do you feel bad for all the things you did as a JW?

  i do: shunning df/da'ers and others i was told were "weak" or "bad association"telling on fellow dubs to the elderscalling the rc church and being hostile/rude while demanding they remove my name as a parishoneranything and everything i did in field service and informal witnessingintentionally having a distant relationship with my "unbelieving" dad and other relativestelling my relatives i was planning on going to bethel, which broke their hearts (of course i never went, because it was a lie--my mom made me say that sh-t)sitting during the pledge of allegiance/national anthem or during prayers when attending funerals/weddings in other churches (imo it's intentionally disrespectful--obnoxious--why make the point of being in the room and then disrupt--they should just leave the room if they can't be polite)being judgementalparticipating in the kh grapevineobeying my jw whack mother's rules and all the other jw rules, and tolerating mental abuse--i feel guilty for not displaying basic self respect.allowing my mother to continue spanking me until i was 18, again which showed lack of self-respect (lol, on my high school graduation day, she tried to punch me and i held her hands back, said, "you are never going to hit me again.

  • I was always rebellious, so I never shunned anyone.
  • I never told on anyone, although it happened to me several times.(got me into lot's of trouble)
  • Never gossiped as I was never a part of the in crowd at the KH.
  • I did go on field service and hated it, never did a good job at it, so I am sure no one is a JW thanks to me.
  • Never went to other churches.
  • As a young child I did not salute the flag, but as I got older I did salute, <---and I am proud of that.

  My one regret is having learned how to be judgemental, it's a hard habit to break.

  I never bought into the JW's org, as early as 6 years old I knew it was not for me.

  Tough day -- my mom died today

  poor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.

  the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.

  last weekend she actually looked a little better.

  I agree with you, My spouse does recieve conditional love from me, but my son will always have my unconditional love, even if does wrong. That does not mean that I would agree or condone what may have done, just that my love for him is an unbreakable bond that is above all else.

  I wish JW's could see and understand this, If your child is df'd, that's still your child, your flesh in blood, something beautiful that you helped create, how can you turn your back on them and shun them? Possibly never speaking to them again. Why doesn't the WTBS just allow you to speak with your family, they are not strangers from the street or people you only see at the cong of field service. If the org wants to keep the shunning policy (that I despise) in place why not just apply it to non family members? This just shows what an evil corrupt cult this is, that would divide family in order to control you.

  guilt is their main weapon.

  if you feel guilty over something no one might ever know about, the watchtower society has seen to it that even whatever you might have thought of or done in secret will be revealed.......were you ever guilty of a secret sin??

  I agree "secret sin" is just another way the elders exert control on you, if god sees all and you sin then repent, then why bring it up? It's between you and god and if he forgives you then the elders and congregation should respect that, after all it is to god that you owe respect & humility not the cong.

  I have always masterbated and always will and I have never felt guilty for it, dispite what I was taught.
