Starting a collection of the Inexplicable JW Doctrines...

i am starting a collection of jw doctrines and practices that have no basis in the scriptures and (preferably) that the scriptures or secular history directly contradicts.

this isn''t a thread for arguing with scholar is he drops by.

i want as comprehensive a set as possible as part of a project i am working on, so even if you aren't sure of one, please toss it in the mix.

Wow you are feeling ambitious today!

Well one that always stuck in my craw was their boneheaded idea that nobody can understand the scriptures without them. To support this they use the story of the Ethiopian eunich who fatefully said, "how could I understand unless someone told me."

Of course when this happened the New Testament had not been written, and it would have been impossible for him to know of Christ's fulfillment of Isaiah unless someone actually told him. If this happened today the Ethiopian eunich could simply pick up a Bible, even a NWT, and find out who Jesus was.

Is that one, or is that more of an example of taking a verse out of context.

Ok, well now that I got you all agreeable...

How about we all take it upon ourselves to help police the boards. Wait how about we help "watch over the flock". Or maybe even "give encouragement".

No but seriously. If you see somebody laying into some unsuspecting JW who walks in here, maybe send them a friendly PM with a link to this thread just to remind them what this place is for. We are here to heal, and to vent our frustrations. But we also have a higher purpose and opportunity here.

And remember, nothing sticks it to the WT like helping to free a trapped mind.

(every time I inoculate someone from the tower, or help someone exit I put a notch in my Bible!)

Quotes Mirror Sites: Attempt at Making a Single Place to Report Sites

Eventually they are going to mess with the wrong cat, it will go to court, and it won't matter anymore because they will lose. How the hell can it be a copyright infringement to display the crap that they run around trying to give to people in their pajamas on saturday mornings!

Actually that is really funny. I have always been the same way.

But then after seeing about 40 or 50 of these doofus' coming through here, I noticed that everyonce in awhile some total rookie manages to get somebody out. The truth of the matter, is that sometimes the jw is dating them because they are already having doubts. All the rookie has to do is give them a little nudge.

So recently we got another one, and instead I posted this. (actually this is a repost that Lady Lee asked me to do for the best of section) I didn't pull any punches, I let her know how hard this all is. But who knows. Maybe she can do some good.

I just noticed Im a Jedi Master.

Well at least I am not 40 yet.

I will always be here, I will never leave the WT alone, but I guess every time I pass one of these mile markers with my wife still trapped in the tower I can't help but wonder how friggin long it's gonna take. Will I make supreme one before she leaves. Will I have 20K posts? It has been a long year!

The first XJW I ever ran across on the 'net was Alan Feuerbacher. I was not a JW, (Couldn't accept the blood thang) but I still had a, "JW's are 90% right" attitude.

Yep that was me also.

I was getting a little anxious about my wife getting baptized though. I wanted to hear what "the other side had to say". I ran into Don Cameron on some yahoo forum, and bought his book (Captives of a Concept). That guy sent me emails back and forth for months. He was real cool also. He didn't rant and rave about how the JW were a cult. We just talked about the stuff that didn't make sense to me.

When I tried to talk to my wife about some of it, that was when I realized to my horror the extent she had been brainwashed.

He spent the next couple months after that helping me to keep my cool until I wandered into this place. I'll always be indebted to that guy.

I guess that is what I am talking about. We who know better owe it to those who don't.

Yeah the heads up on the "Have you prepared your child to die for the cult" article in the KM was a Jehovah-send.

She came home and I said, "so what did you guys talk about tonight?", knowing damn well what sort of crap she heard and how she feels about it.

I especially love seeing the letters to the elders posted immediately. How that must irritate the Bethel nose-pickers to see that their elder ranks are so fully infiltrated with apostates.
