Is it just me or all the posts turning into books?
by wyorobert ini'll admit i enjoy reading the long posts of new members.. it does seem like everything is getting to the point where it takes the entire evening to read the posts.
has anyone else noticed this?
i will admit to being guilty in the past, but promise to edit in the future..

Yeah, I think most of it has to do with people being passionate about a certain subject. They start out with the idea in their head and then just ramble.
I don't like long post as long as they are well written and not just copied and pasted. Oh and the exception are with the experiences, the more details the better. LOL

Using Christianity as a badge...
by garyneal infirst a little backdrop.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnbxlknavwo.
now, my wife says that people who exit the witness religion should just walk away and speak not of them anymore.
also in the case of myself, i should just leave it alone and let her do her thing.

I think talking politics and religion at work is a bad idea. I've been asked at work a couple of times about my religion and I answer that I'm an atheist and do not discuss anything further. That goes for sharing any other details of your personal life, it's not a good idea.
But outside of work I do not keep it a secret if it comes up. Some like to have a full discussion, some just leave it at that. My family has everything from JW's to Mormons. So at reunions sometimes they ask me and I warn them about opening that door... I get to have a good time messing with their heads. LOL
Now when it comes to dating, that's where it does get a bit difficult. Specially if the woman is a church going person. I clarify that at the beginning. Because I have had bad experiences where later in the relationship it becomes a problem. Now that I think about it... I haven't dated a girl who was completely an atheist, where are they? Am I looking at the wrong places? lol
Bottom line is that everybody judges at some level, even atheists. We are not free of that human condition. Some people like wear that "badge", my only advice is to be careful where you were it.

I am out of here
by Aussie Oz inthis place has become far to jw ish for my liking.. free expression and rights to make reply are shut down by those who hold the key.. this forum is turning into an uber christian outreach program with those who take umbridge to them getting locked and deleted threads.
it would perhaps not be so bad if the moderators actually communicated to people such as myself rather than cold cutting.
they complain when we make a public outcry and tell us it belongs in a private message, yet cannot see 'the straw in their own eye' and do not use the private messages to communicate why they have done what they do.

Aussie,
I understand. Many people here do not understand completely what freedom of speech is.
The MOD's can do whatever they want to under the user agreement.
I have only been here on and off but hope to see more of your posts.

The Wine Thread.
by Open mind inif you enjoy a glass of vino now and then, tell us what you like and how your tastes got to where they are now.
wine snobs & non-snobs alike welcome!.
my intro to the world of wine was my jw parents buying a huge screw-top bottle of paul masson or gallo red or white, having half a glass, and sticking it out on the back porch thinking that wine stayed good like that.

I like red wine once in a while. The cheapest will do. Although if I drink too much of it in the morning I get red spots all over and I can see all my veins of my face. It's like the wine is still flowing, lol.
Give me a two beers and two shots of Goldshlager and I'm good!

What to do when a job makes you unhappy?
by moshe ini started a new job last month- just 3 miles down the street.
i am the maintenance coordinator at a 42 room assisted living community i was pretty excited to get hired as i had been trying to get a job in that field for over two years since i retired from my primary occupation in 2008. my father lived in one of these communites for a couple years before he passed away and so do my inlaws right now.
however, after a couple weeks i am not so happy here.

I think the job you want is a bit hard to get even when the economy is good. Most maintenance jobs that only require electrical skills are large commercial buildings. Most of the time when a building gets done the owner will ask the electrical company that built that building if anyone is interested in maintenance.
Have you looked for a job in am electrical warehouse? You can start out at the counter and work you're way up to salesperson. Just a thought.

Jehovah, the Ineffective Creator!
by zgborn into hear jehovah's witnesses tell the story, their god is a lousy creator.
consider, from the very beginning of time, he has had his intentions thwarted at every turn.
he intended to have a world filled with loving human worshippers, but from the garden of eden forward, he has not gotten what he wanted.

Okay, how about the plants? Plants are the most effecient living thing in the planet. It can take light from the sun and turn it into energy.
Why not create a human being that efficient?

Well don't wonder if they have the right story because they don't.
When faced with the challenge that the creator you believe in is flawed, many people just say that his ways are higher than ours. That he has his purpose. Instread of thinking about these flaws people just say that and move on.
We need more critical thinking.
