Go to college. One of my biggest regrets in life is listening to well meaning brothers who convinced me that handling a microphone was a higher calling than a degree. Its a fact of life that you need some further education to even get your foot in the door, much less be a success.

JWs who were actually cool

we always talk about the crazy j-dub fundy types, but i knew some cool jws (co, do, bethelites, pio) during my time.

this is kind of a "where are they now" post along with acknowledginig some jws who were cool and down-to-earth.

as with most "cool" and good people in the borg, most of them are either not jws anymore (burned out) or are not "serving" in responsible positions (funny how that works, isn't it).

"Lyn Newton - Elder in Phoenix, AZ He always had his own opinion about how things should be, was very daring when it came to the internet (JW related stuff) and didn't care what anyone thought about it. Could hold conversations about just about anything and he had a viewpoint, he liked to talk. He's no longer an elder and has alot to say about how the org operates. His wife is "odd" but they make it work. His son and I didn't see eye to eye. He was the perfect JW kid. Now I think he's in the military and I know he's df'd. "

Faux Dubs

does anyone have any idea of how many dubs there are wandering around the kh that don't really believe it is the truth?

i would think a lot but is there any way of knowing what the percent would be?

i have seen cases where the husband didn't believe and the wife didn't believe but they kept their true feelings to themselves for years out of fear.

Told my nonJW brother-in-law I'm done with the JW thing

i am slowly ramping up the wheels of apostacy and have begun telling a few people to help brace the fallout of me telling my wife.

i have many relatives that aren't jws - both on my side and on my wife's side.

i've already told my dad (who was never a jw - to which i am eternally grateful), and some nonjw business people that i am also friends with.. my wife's brother was never a jw.

Nice thoughts about potential changes (its what I would ideally hope for to save my sanity) but I don't see it happening. If anything things are becoming more strict, stern and legalistic.

Speaking of the old H20, does anyone remember a poster named Nicodemus? I think he was an elder at the time that always had some good insights. Nicodemus, if you are out there, pm me.

Logans....believe me, they (we?) are out there. Debating whether its a "class" or not just seems like semantics to me.

I'd post more, but still am a bit trepidatious about possibly being found out. Maybe I'll be bolder in the future.
