Actually it just makes more sense. If all you are doing is leaving tracts and barely talking to people there really is no point to carry a bookbag.

New Tract Distribution Question
by startingover ini ran into a jw friend doing the tract work this weekend, and she was carrying the tracts in a folder.
both her and her partner looked like they were out doing a survey because of the way they were holding the folder with no bookbag present.
i just talked to an ex-jw friend in another state, and he said he saw someone in his neighborhood doing the same thing, and didn't think they were jw's because of it, but a tract ended up at their door.. just curious, for those of you in the know, was there some instruction to do this work in this way?

From 1 to 10, What's the JW morale right now?
by JH inif you could give a score from 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest, what do you think is the morale of the average witness right now, considering that not much that they predicted happened by now.. i would give them a 4, considering their new tract that came out recently, that might make them more optimistic that the end is closer..

Overall, about a 6, but 8-9 in my hall where everyone is all goo-goo ga-ga over the "campaign." I forgot that I left some visible in my car yesterday and when I went to the car this morning I thought "This guy looks like a real nutjob."

Any trouble for faders going back and forth; JWD and the KH
by OnTheWayOut indo any people trying to fade out of the organization have any trouble coming to this forum and going to the kingdom hall?.
specific problems might be:.
1. wanting to use acronyms or names from the jwd (jaydub, borg, etc.
-
Tristram
4. Wanting to get too specific on the JWD about personal information that others might
try to clue in on to pinpoint who or where you are located (for paranoid posters like myself). That's me to a "T". My posts are vague to a fault to avoid giving away anything about me that might be picked up on by a sinister lurker. I have said previously that I am an active JW, but beyond that I keep mum. Status in congregation, marital status, area of the world, etc. I keep to myself. Maybe, maybe someday...

"Brothers, sisters are like a pizza"
I've heard the cheesy phrase that sex is like pizza, even when it's bad its still pretty good. Maybe that's what he was getting at?

Can too many meetings be harmful to a person's spirituality?
by JH ini think so.. the watchtower wouldn't agree with me.
too much of anything is counter productive.. it's like eating a good meal, and 5 minutes later ordering the same plate.
you won't feel like eating because your full.

There is always a meeting just like the one you attended right around the corner. That contributes to apathy among the R&F.

What were the best Watchtower years?
by JH induring what period of time did they have some credibility and were they most active and making the most money?.
around here, when i joined back in 1987, there were so many pioneers in the congregation and they were in the field service morning, afternoon and evening.
that lasted about 5 years, then it was a quick and steady decline in field service and a decline in building new halls.

Service talk on changes at Bethel, layoffs, spirit of urgency
by truthseeker inlast week an elder who has served in bethel gave the service meeting talk, which referred to the front page of the sep km (which i don't yet have) on the governing body's letter to all publishers.. he started by saying that "drastic times call for drastic measures" - bethel was going through periods of rapid change.. he referred to a symposium given by brother jaracz and splane last december, where they tried to brush off the layoffs saying everyone had to keep "up with jehovah's celestial chariot".
bethelites were being reassigned to the field, and this would be difficult for them.
some in bethel who were being reassigned had been there 20 or 30 years.

My husband said that the CO said there was a 25% turnover in elders every year and few men available let alone qualified to take their place. Could this be another side "benefit" of casting out the Bethelites?
They also are leaning strongly on MS's lately to step up to the plate and reach out for elder-ship. As far as I can tell, most of the MS's are quite content where they are, if that.

DA by making own announcement at KH
by Alligator Wisdom ina brother would state that he is "no longer a jehovah's witness" after his part on the service meeting.
a sister would state the same after her talk on the tms.
or anyone for that matter can express such after making a comment at the watchtower study.

Go to the "Talk Zipped WAV File."
He has a great way of speaking. Would have liked to hear some of his other talks.

LT,
I've always wondered, were you hustled, escorted out of the hall after your talk?
