i know her, she wouldn't repeat anything like this if she hadn't heard it from the kingdom hall or a circuit overseer.. anything to this?.
But in conmany diehard loyalists, many have said "It would not suprise me if the Society move out of Brooklyn altogether in the future - it would be safer for Bethelites not having to travel the subway to their congregations late at night, it would free up money to be spent on the worldwide work, and it is much nicer in upstate New York."
Boy, that's gonna make all the faithful JW's stuck in NYC feel real good. "Sorry, suckas! We're outta here!"

any former/current elders especially.
i am currently an elder and basically miss at least one meeting a week and never go out in service on sundays and seldom on saturdays.
I'm not an elder, but from my experience/ observations, you can muddle through for years. Show up at the meeting for service and then make "shepherding calls." It helps if you have a like-minded elder friend, like my father did when I was younger. I always got to go with him on these calls and basically spent the morning goofing off in the car with my friend.
Most elders are too busy, worn out, exhausted to worry about what you are doing. Unless you have some real zealot, you can get by doing what you're doing for a long time. The only issue may be giving your assigned parts, as most elders/ servants hate picking up the slack for that.

for some reason (read they are afraid that exiting jws will use them to "stumble" other bros.) my new congo will not issue the normal member list with names, addies, numbers and congo appointments; the same list that everyone uses to call their jw buddies over for a booze party.. i was switched to this new congo two or so years ago and since have heard of two other congos that have stopped distributing lists.
since i have only inquired of two congoes, i ass-ume that the distribution of "friends" personal info is now forbidden?.
please comment all you current members/faders.
We have a list that is given to anyone in the hall who wants it. This has never been an issue as far as I can recall.

i have not been to a meeting for some years now so i would not know if it has been said ,but have the witnesses actually been told straight out not to read the harry potter books?
i ask this because my in-laws have seen me reading them and now think i am into evil stuff because i have them .
so is it just them or is this what is now taught in the orginization?
As for LOTR however, I have not heard of pressure to not read or watch. In fact, I know several JWs who were excited about the movies coming out and went to see them at the theater.
Ditto for this area. Many JW's were at the LOTR movie's on opening night and are avid fans of the books. I personally preferred the Harry Potter movies, which were incongruously labeled "demonic" by the LOTR fans. Go figure.

they both were staring at the book, i noticed the car was spewing steam and coolant.
Heh heh. I thought "broken down JW" was referring to the general weariness and malaise among the rank and file.
in looking through the watchtowers most recent study publication 'what does the bible really teach' i noticed something that makes the book quite different from all other jw publications that have come before it.
all of the previous publications used to get 'interested ones' to become jehovah's witnesses made it perfectly clear who the faithful slave was.
this is a core teaching of the jws as all of us know.

Moshe, I am respectfully curious: On what do you base this assumption? I can tell you from the inside that the Slave doctrine is at the forefront like never before, in the WT and in comments, talks and prayers. If anything, I see an escalation of the idea, no evidence that it will be dropped. T
