I can't believe they shunned me...

have any of you ever feel abandoned by "friends" because you dont associate (congregate) with them anymore?

there is a couple of 'friends' that i haven't talked to for about a year, (because i dont go to the meetings).

i dont have anything against them or the congregation.

Smokey, I have gone throught the same thing as you. I am not D.A 'ed or D.F'ed but all of my former witness friends have nothing to do with me. Around the time I stopped going to meetings an elder told them I wasnt good association and they stopped all contact with me. My best friend got married and didnt even tell me about it. I run into some of my old JW friends from time to time around town and they are always talk to me and act if everything is cool between us. I used to hold onto alot of anger and resentment towards them, but I gave that up and realized they haven't broken free from their conditioning.

Buddha says Anger is like a hot coal that is waiting to be thrown, but it's the person who is holding it that gets hurt the most.

Or as the wise Yoda once said "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering"

Cave diving in Mexico -- pics

here are some pics of my dive in an underground cave system in mexico.

they drive you out into the jungle a ways and you go down a ladder 30 feet underground.

there you find yourself on a platform in a cave filled with crystal clear water.

Thats awesome. I am going to Cancun in 2 days, do they have caves like that around there? If so how experienced do you have to be to dive them?

What does your desktop wallpaper look like?

there are so many to choose from over the net.

i usually use the basic wallpapers that windows xp provide.. i love using "azul" wallpaper to remind me of the summer, since our summers don't last long.. .

this time of year i turn to the "autumn" wallpaper with the nice colored leaves.. .

After my un-DF'ing, I have sent a letter to everyone in my hall.

in the final installment of my story, i am done with my local congregation now.

in the past month, i have been df'd, un-df'd attended a meeting where i shook everyones hand and smiled ... and now i have sent everyone in the hall this letter, roughly 60 addresses:.

open letter to the north congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

The elders are sure going to look like A**holes when they disfellowship you again. Some members will overlook your letter and just go along with what the elders tell them to think. Hopefully some of the people who got your letter are going to think what the F**K, why are they disfellowshipping him for this? If anything you get to set the story straight and some people will see through the WTS lies.

This reminds me of the scene from Half Baked when the spanish kid quits his job at the burger shack. " F*ck you, F*ck you, F*ck you, not you your pretty cool and F*ck you. Peace, I'm out of here"

SHOULD I PIONEER OR COLLEGE?

do you think the wt has become more lenient or stricter over the year?.

i am 21 and i remember just 4 years ago going to college was looked at as something negative.

girls my age, we had plans to be ft pioneers and become secretaries.

During high school I figured the end was so close there was no need for college. I'm 28 years old now and I'm almost 1/2 done with my bachelors degree. Regardless of what path of studies you choose it will be well worth it. College not only helps get you farther in the business world, it helps open your mind to new ideas. College has helped be refine my critical thinking skills and decision making. It's much harder now that I am older with a full-time job, new wife and a kid but it's worth the extra work.

In a few years your pioneer friends will be still be waiting on the end while you are living a life that you have created for yourself.

Describe your first thoughts upon hearing the 1914 generation 'new light'

we all remember where we were and what we were thinking during highly significant events....(e.g.

9-11, jfk, etc)..... if you can recall, what were the first thoughts racing through your mind as you sat at the 1995 d.c. at the infamous 1914 generation change announcement, was it "the final nail in the coffin of your wts beliefs or did you engage in mental gymnastics to try to assimilate the "fresh meat in due season" lol....... i was in such shock at this announcement, i think my mind just blanked out for 10 minutes followed by: "ok, this really is it for me......they have duped us all along", i then immediately started thinking of my 90 year old jw grandmother sitting in the stadium, and what must have been going through her mind......

I was 18 at the time and already starting to have doubts as to whether this could be the only "true religion". It wasnt so much the initial annoucement that struck me as odd ( I dont even remember when I first hear it) but the follow up articles and discussions that followed it. I couldnt understand how one second I was suppose to believe that the end would be as soon as the 144,000 had died off and then the next minute I was suppose to believe that I might actually live a long life and still die during "this wicked system of things". I put off college and rushed into marriage at 18 so that I would be in good standing at the kingdom hall. It's what I felt I had to do, since the end was guaranteed to happened any day now. That "new light" enabled me to see the way out of the BORG and the truth about the Watchtower.

for sunday, it had to do with the annointed and malachi 3:17 being applicable in a modern day fulfillment and also for the great crowd, the question went something liek this "in principal, how is the great crowd part of the prophecy of malachi 3:17?

well when opportunity knocks you had better open the door, so i says well turn here to rev 7:14 she of course had to read it too, so i told her there is no great crowd, has the great tribulation happened?

Leolaia, I wasnt refering to anyone in general during my first posts. I just don't understand peoples thinking when it comes to do with the Bible as the inspired word of God. So many people base their way of life on this book and then act like it is the only way to believe. How can someone base their entire life on a book that is outdated and full of unprovable events. For some people it works and that's great, but since leaving the borg, I have come to realize the ego involved in someones belief system. Thats what it boils down to for me, most people dont want to see the Bible as just a book because it will destory their ego. Thats why so many people stay in their religions and or cults. The fear of being wrong is a powerful one and many people are not willing to be wrong when it comes to their belief system.

What makes the Christian Bible right and all other bibles wrong? Where is the proof that the Christian Bible is more inspired than the Koran, Kabbalah, The Book of Mormon, Bhagavad-Gita, or the Torah? Each set of people that follow these various Bibles, believe just as strongly that their book is the inspired bible. What makes them wrong and Christian’s right? In my opinion believing that the Christian Bible is the only inspired word of god is just as narrow minded as believing JW's are the only chosen people. Just because the bible says it's gods word doesn’t mean that it is the word of god. The Watchtower also says it is inspired by god, but that doesn’t mean that it is inspired by god.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful to others beliefs but it drives me crazy when people take the bible so literally, especially books like Revelations that it filled with symbolism. The bible has been translated over and over again for hundreds of years. Most of us have heard of the story passing game. You line up 10 people and tell the first one a simple story. By the end of the line, the story is never the same and in many cases totally different. How can the bible be thought of any differently. If an almighty GOD wanted his story told, don’t you think he would do it clearly and in a manner that all could understand. Personally I find it impossible that the Bible that is read by Christians is anywhere near how it was originally written. With that in mind, how can any logical person base their faith and their lives on stories that are incorrect?

If there is no proof that the Bible is the inspired word of GOD, why do people so whole heartily accept the things written in it as fact? In my humble opinion the Bible is a nice book filled with stories about good and evil. There is no doubt that the bible does contain a lot accurate historical information but to accept the mythical parts as fact and the “Truth” show a lack of critical thinking skills.
